The school anniversary was approaching, and Class Five's teacher, Zhang Ping, tasked the class monitor, Wen Xiaoxiao, with leading the rehearsal for a play, "Snow White." During a class meeting, Zhang Ping announced that each class was required to present a performance for the school's 88th anniversary celebration. Geng Geng, observing the discussions and daydreaming of herself as Snow White with Yu Huai as her Prince, decided to join the production.

Lu Xinghe, known for his artistic flair, suggested performing "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves," mentioning he had previously adapted the script. Geng Geng thought it sounded like a good idea. Yu Huai was eventually, somewhat reluctantly, included in the cast as an indispensable member of the class. Jian Dan and Geng Geng also volunteered to participate. However, gossip had already begun circulating that Lu Xinghe was pursuing Geng Geng, an artistically inclined friend of hers.

Geng Geng, concerned about the rumors, specifically asked Lu Xinghe to keep his distance for two weeks, requesting that he refrain from overly sentimental gestures. Lu Xinghe, unfazed by the gossip, agreed to her request. The casting was announced with Han Xu as the Prince and Wen Xiaoxiao as the Queen. To everyone's surprise, Xu Yanliang was cast as the Princess, a decision Wen Xiaoxiao attributed to Zhang Ping. Despite the initial odd casting, rehearsals for the play began.

While Geng Geng found the collaborative activity enjoyable, Yu Huai viewed it as merely "boring formalism" and "a bedtime story," expressing a general reluctance to participate. Their physics teacher, Zhang Feng, held a contrasting view to Zhang Ping. Zhang Feng prioritized academic achievement above all else, while Zhang Ping believed in fostering a more diverse high school experience beyond just studying.

Zhang Feng interrupted a rehearsal session, sternly reminding the students that their primary duty was to study, especially with mid-term exams approaching. Geng Geng, however, remained dedicated to the play. She diligently rehearsed her lines at home, even imagining conversations with a magic mirror about whether boys liked her. During one rehearsal, she proposed an insightful modification to the Queen's lines, which Wen Xiaoxiao praised, noting Geng Geng's unexpected talent for drama.

Geng Geng admitted she was simply happy for a temporary escape from her textbooks. Her mother, hearing her practicing, playfully guessed she was rehearsing "Snow White" after Geng Geng described the plot as "a woman fainting in the woods and being dragged into a dark cabin by seven men." Geng Geng had also called her mother, expressing her longing and receiving a new phone card with pre-paid credit, which allowed her to stay in touch more easily.

Following the mid-term exams, Class Five achieved unusually high scores in the last two physics questions, drawing the attention of Director Pan. He found this suspicious, as Zhenhua Middle School had no history of large-scale cheating. He immediately ordered Zhang Ping to investigate the students' activities leading up to the exam. Reviewing the school's surveillance footage, Director Pan spotted Geng Geng acting suspiciously outside Zhang Ping's office before the exam.

He concluded that she had cheated, which led to Zhang Ping's demotion as class teacher. The students of Class Five, fiercely loyal to Zhang Ping, were dismayed and decided to collectively approach Director Pan to clear their teacher's name and ensure his reinstatement. On the day of the anniversary celebration, Geng Geng encountered a senior student, Luo Zhi, who inquired about her "desk mate with the tiger tooth" (Yu Huai).

Geng Geng later observed Luo Zhi watching student representative Sheng Huainan's speech with clear admiration. Just before Class Five's performance of "Snow White," Geng Geng was overcome with nervousness and developed uncontrollable hiccups. Her classmates frantically attempted various remedies, including startling her and making her hold her breath, but to no avail. Finally, a classmate offered her an apple, which surprisingly cured her hiccups.

This relief was short-lived, however, as it was discovered that the apple Geng Geng ate was actually the crucial prop for the play. As Class Five's "Snow White" began, the audience struggled to hear the actors' lines. When it came time for the Queen, played by Wen Xiaoxiao, to present the poisoned apple to Snow White, played by Geng Geng, Yu Huai ingeniously improvised.

He stepped forward, declaring himself "the little apple," and mimed being the fruit, earning laughter and applause from the audience and saving the scene. The play continued with the Prince, played by Han Xu, finding Snow White and reviving her with a kiss. Backstage after the performance, Yu Huai commented to Geng Geng that the "behind-the-scenes story" was far more interesting. He then playfully admitted that he genuinely enjoyed sitting next to her.

Geng Geng teased him about his perceived popularity, to which Yu Huai playfully retorted, asking if she wanted him to admit she loved him. Their exchange continued lightheartedly, with Yu Huai reaffirming his confidence in being universally liked.
