Unique Lady Season 3 Episode 6 Recap
> Unique Lady Season 3 Recap
Earlier, Zhong Wumei playfully addressed Lin Luojing as "Female Doctor," remarking on her resemblance to his consort. He teased her, asking her to compensate him for the bitter taste of his medicine. Lin Luojing, surprised, asked how she could, to which he replied, "You're sweet." After this lighthearted moment, Yu, an operative loyal to Prince Jing Yuan, reported that her arrangements were complete. She informed him that Wen Ru Yu had successfully convinced Zhong Wumei and his companions to return.
She also revealed that the grand chancellor's forces had attempted to assassinate Lin Luojing and Zhong Wumei in Nan Yan, and while they were almost caught, they managed to escape. Prince Jing Yuan, angered by the grand chancellor's perceived incompetence, instructed Yu to continue with their plan and eliminate anyone who showed signs of rebellion. Zhong Wumei then secretly visited the Emperor, who was suffering from a chronic cough.
Zhong Wumei expressed concern, but the Emperor dismissed his offer to find more doctors, stating that even the Immortal Doctor in Sheng Jing was helpless. The Emperor revealed the court was in turmoil and Sheng Jing was in constant danger. He urged Zhong Wumei to consider ascending the throne, explaining that with Qi Yu ready to act and the King of Bei Yu displeased by Zhong Wumei's neglect of Wen Ru Yu, only his succession could restore stability.
The Emperor further revealed that Lin Feiyu, after escaping from the death cell, had sought refuge with the King of Bei Yu, which he believed was a definite plot. He warned that if Lin Feiyu exploited Zhong Wumei's elopement, it would sever the alliance between Sheng Jing and Bei Yu. Zhong Wumei, however, hesitated, expressing his unwillingness to abandon Lin Luojing and suggesting Prince Jing Yuan as a more suitable heir due to his capabilities and the Emperor's trust.
The Emperor then clarified that Prince Jing Yuan's title was both a reward for his father's sacrifices and a warning to the Jin clan that power should not be used to harm innocents. Zhong Wumei pondered the Emperor's words, realizing the deeper meaning behind the warning and suspecting Prince Jing Yuan's true identity was more complex. He worried that his involvement in court politics would again endanger Lin Luojing. Lin Luojing prepared a candlelight dinner to surprise Zhong Wumei.
She greeted him excitedly, asking about her appearance and his late return. Before he could fully explain, Zhong Wumei suddenly fainted. When he eventually woke up, he was disoriented and did not recognize Lin Luojing. He demanded to know who she was and why she was in his room, even ordering Zhang Ji to remove the "stranger."
Zhang Ji informed him that she was his consort, but Zhong Wumei insisted his consort was Wen Ru Yu, leaving Lin Luojing stunned and silently lamenting the classic amnesia trope unfolding before her. An Imperial Doctor was called to examine Zhong Wumei. Lin Luojing anxiously questioned the doctor, who diagnosed Zhong Wumei with a rare, exotic poison he had never encountered.
He explained that it was likely a recurrence of the Qing Flower Poison, which, combined with the recent journey, had overwhelmed his body and caused him to lose all memories related to Lin Luojing. Lin Luojing silently wondered why the poison had returned, as the Immortal Doctor had supposedly cured it, leaving him only with weakness. She then asked how long the amnesia would last and what could be done, fearing he might never remember her.
Zhang Ji interjected, urging the doctor to focus on writing a prescription for Zhong Wumei's immediate recovery. After the doctor left with Zhang Ji, Wen Ru Yu tended to Zhong Wumei, telling him to rest. Zhong Wumei reassured her that he was fine. Xi Que, upset, questioned Zhong Wumei for holding Wen Ru Yu's hand in front of Lin Luojing. Wen Ru Yu’s maid, Shan, immediately slapped Xi Que.
Lin Luojing retaliated by slapping Shan, asserting that no one was to lay a hand on her servant. Zhong Wumei, witnessing the altercation, sternly rebuked Lin Luojing for her rudeness within the mansion. He then questioned her identity and manners. Shan seized the opportunity to portray Lin Luojing as Zhong Wumei's "deposed consort" who was jealous of his relationship with Wen Ru Yu.
Lin Luojing angrily refuted these claims, but Zhong Wumei, swayed by Shan's words and his amnesia, commanded Zhang Ji to remove Lin Luojing from the premises. Distraught, Lin Luojing sat in the courtyard, drinking to ease her sorrow. Her maids tried to console her, reminding her that drinking would harm her health.
She cried, lamenting that Zhong Wumei, who had sworn eternal love and loyalty, had so easily forgotten her, bewitched by Wen Ru Yu, and was now unable to discern right from wrong. One of her maids suggested that perhaps if she drank enough, Zhong Wumei might remember her upon waking.
Her maids then encouraged her, reminding her of the doctor's prognosis that Zhong Wumei would recover and that with their help, he would surely regain his memories, especially given his deep love for her. Lin Luojing recognized this as a test of their love and resolved to get herself together, determined not to lose to Wen Ru Yu. Yu, one of Lin Luojing's maids, proposed activating Zhong Wumei's "physical memories," an idea Xi Que had also heard of.
Lin Luojing recalled a similar concept from television, where familiar experiences could stimulate the brain and help restore memories. Meanwhile, Wen Ru Yu, pleased that Zhong Wumei had completely forgotten Lin Luojing, confided in her maid Shan that his sudden amnesia felt almost too coincidental. Shan reassured her, claiming it was proof that Zhong Wumei had been bewitched by Lin Luojing before and was now truly awake, implying even God was helping Wen Ru Yu.
She emphasized that Wen Ru Yu and Zhong Wumei were the true couple. Later, Wen Ru Yu conversed with an unseen individual, confirming that their plan was proceeding smoothly. The individual noted that the drug administered to Zhong Wumei was accelerating the poison in his system. Wen Ru Yu clarified that their ultimate goal was to control him, and with the second dose of the drug, they would simply wait and reap the benefits.
Separately, two men, seemingly unaware of the true plot, discussed Lin Luojing, expressing skepticism about the claim that she had "lost her mind" and that medicine could cure such a condition. Lin Luojing's first attempt to jog Zhong Wumei's memory was to perform a familiar dance. He watched with an expressionless face, then walked past her, dismissing her actions as "indecent." Undeterred, she later tried to get his attention by deliberately falling into him.
He called her a "stupid woman," a familiar term of endearment, which briefly filled her with hope, but he quickly reverted to anger, accusing her of being frivolous and wondering why he ever married someone so "indecent." Wen Ru Yu arrived, calmly urging Zhong Wumei to ignore Lin Luojing and rest. Zhong Wumei praised Wen Ru Yu's thoughtfulness and left with her, further disheartening Lin Luojing. Lin Luojing retreated to her room, locking herself in and refusing food or drink.
Her maids tried to persuade her to eat. When Zhang Ji arrived, he explained to Lin Luojing that Wen Ru Yu was constantly by Zhong Wumei's side, preventing him from speaking the truth. He urged Lin Luojing to remain strong against Wen Ru Yu’s influence and suggested seeking Master Jiang's help, but he was reportedly away. Lin Luojing then decided to try invoking "physical memories" using old items and shared experiences.
She donned a dress that had once belonged to Zhong Wumei's mother, hoping to trigger his recollections. Instead, he was furious, demanding she remove it and asking how she dared to wear his mother’s esteemed garment. Lin Luojing pointed out that he had given it to her, but he couldn't remember. She resolved to help him remember their past. She then offered him candied hawthorn, reminding him of their night market visit where he had eagerly bought many for her.
Next, she presented stinky tofu, recalling how he couldn't stop eating it after his first taste, despite its initial smell. She asked if these memories sparked any recognition or headaches, but he felt nothing. Her next attempt involved a sky lantern, reminding him of Wen Xiang Lou's Beauty Contest where he won her back. This triggered a brief, angry flashback in Zhong Wumei's mind, where he called her "stupid woman" and "savage," but he still didn't fully remember her.
Finally, she showed him an erotic book she used to hide under her pillow, reminding him how he had discovered it after their wedding and enjoyed reading it too. Zhong Wumei reacted with outrage, dismissing her actions as "nonsense" and accusing her of being "casual and frivolous," even teaching Zhang Ji and Xi Que to deceive him to gain his attention.
He condemned her for reading "erotic books" and shamelessly discussing them, calling her actions "utterly indecent," "shameless," and "so dirty." Lin Luojing, unable to endure his scorn, confronted him, asking what constituted "decency" if it meant allowing him to remain deceived and unable to distinguish right from wrong. She acknowledged his ancient upbringing and closed-mindedness but asserted that it did not justify his disrespect and discrimination against women.
She passionately defended her choices, including reading such books and visiting Wen Xiang Lou, proclaiming the concept of gender equality and stating that "women can shoulder half the world." She reminded him that he was the one who had pursued her and promised to love her exclusively. She then defiantly questioned his authority to act like a demanding prince, calling him a "bossy, cold-blooded, heartless savage." Zhong Wumei, shocked, asked if she dared to scold him, to which Lin Luojing boldly replied, "I do! So what?"
