Lan Wangji immediately decided to send a message to his brother, Lan Xichen, warning him to be vigilant. Their path led them to the Jiang clan ancestral hall.
Wei Wuxian hesitated, but ultimately followed Lan Wangji inside to pay respects to Jiang Fengmian, Yu Ziyuan, and Jiang Yanli. To his and Lan Wangji's astonishment, the sword, long sealed to all others, slid effortlessly from its sheath. Wen Ning then revealed the shocking truth: the golden core now circulating spiritual power within Jiang Cheng's body was Wei Wuxian's. That was why Suibian had recognized him.
Jiang Cheng erupted in a furious denial, screaming that his golden core had been repaired by Baoshan Wanderer. Wen Ning calmly recounted the day Jiang Cheng ascended the mountain blindfolded, describing the path and the sounds, confirming it was not Baoshan Wanderer's secluded abode but a deserted mountain in Yiling.

However, Wei Wuxian had insisted, saying that even if he failed, he had other paths, but Jiang Cheng, who cared so much about his cultivation, would be utterly ruined if he remained a mere ordinary person. He then took the boy back to Gusu and raised him, deliberately keeping his past hidden so Wen Yuan could live a happy life without the burden of painful memories. Soon after, Wei Wuxian finally regained consciousness.
Lan Wangji, honoring his promise to Wen Ning, did not reveal that Jiang Cheng now knew about the core transfer. Wei Wuxian gazed blankly at the surrounding lotus lake, a faint smile gracing his lips as he imagined Jiang Yanli sitting at the boat's bow, calling to him to eat lotus seeds.
