Yao Zhiming earnestly learned how to make crucian carp with tofu from Liu Wanyu. He wanted to cook it himself for Mai Chenghuan. Yao Zhiming was meticulous in his preparation, and Mai Chenghuan cheered him on from the side. Mai Chengzao made thorough preparations in advance. He stated the facts in court and presented strong evidence. Even Luo Mingli, who was serving as Song Huaimin's defense lawyer, was speechless. Mai Chengzao helped Mao Mao win back custody of Ding Ding.

Mao Mao was overjoyed and full of praise for Mai Chengzao. While Yao Zhiming was cooking in the kitchen, Liu Wanyu sat on the sofa chatting with Mai Laitian. They thought of Mai Chengzao, and Liu Wanyu called him to ask him to come home for dinner over the weekend and urged him to find a girlfriend soon. Yao Renfu suspected that Zhang Peisheng was behind all this and secretly recorded their conversation. He even returned the bribe to Secretary Zou. Secretary Zou threatened him, scaring Yao Renfu into silence. Yao Renfu grew increasingly uneasy. He wanted to message Yao Zhiming and tell him about Secretary Zou’s request for the reception pass.

Suddenly, there was a power outage in the hotel room. Yao Renfu guessed it was Zhang Peisheng’s doing and rushed downstairs to investigate. The hotel staff were in chaos. Mai Chenghuan called Zhang Ziyu and learned she had already picked up the delegation and was heading to the hotel. Mai Chenghuan asked Zhang Ziyu to find a way to delay them. She instructed Butler Cui to call for technicians to repair the power lines.

Unable to bear seeing Mai Chenghuan in a difficult position, Yao Renfu stepped forward to reveal the truth. The power outage had been deliberately caused. Mai Chenghuan immediately sent people to investigate any strangers at Xing’anli Hotel with a blue lanyard reception pass. Yao Renfu played the recording of his call with Secretary Zou, and only then did Mai Chenghuan realize that the whole thing had been orchestrated by Zhang Peisheng.

Since the electrical damage was severe, it would take at least an hour to fix, but Zhang Ziyu could only stall the delegation at the Bund for fifteen minutes. Filled with guilt, Yao Renfu repeatedly apologized to Mai Chenghuan. She chose not to pursue the matter further and still treated him like family. Zhang Ziyu brought the delegation to Xing’anli Hotel and led them directly to the lawn. Yao Renfu introduced them to the history of Xing’anli and offered them wine. His explanation was articulate and engaging, and the guests listened attentively. The power was finally restored. Butler Cui reported to Mai Chenghuan at once. She instructed Duoduo to help the guests check in. She praised Yao Renfu highly.

Upon hearing what happened, Yao Zhiming came to confront Yao Renfu and yelled at him. Mai Chenghuan arrived in time to defend Yao Renfu and dragged Yao Zhiming along to confront Zhang Peisheng. Mai Chenghuan went directly to Zhang Peisheng’s office and exposed his role in orchestrating the previous food poisoning incident, his use of Yao Renfu to obtain the hotel’s reception pass, and his hiring of people to sabotage the power lines.

Yao Zhiming arrived with the police to arrest Zhang Peisheng. Although Zhang Peisheng refused to confess, the police had irrefutable evidence. Zhang Peisheng had no choice but to surrender. Yao Zhiming, under orders from his superiors, took over all of Zhang Peisheng’s duties. Mai Chenghuan urged Yao Zhiming to apologize to Yao Renfu. It was thanks to Yao Renfu’s confession that the truth came to light. She accompanied Yao Zhiming to look for Yao Renfu, but found the room empty.

Yao Zhiming called him, but Yao Renfu didn’t answer. Only when Mai Chenghuan called did he finally pick up. After learning the matter had been resolved, he breathed a sigh of relief. Yao Zhiming offered to pick him up, but Yao Renfu, overwhelmed with emotion, insisted on returning to the hotel on his own. As Yao Renfu was crossing the street, he was hit by a speeding car and thrown into the air.

Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, they could not save him. When Yao Zhiming and Mai Chenghuan rushed to the hospital, Yao Renfu had already passed away. Yao Zhiming was devastated and went straight to Yao Renfu’s room, while Mai Chenghuan stayed behind to handle the necessary formalities. In Yao Renfu’s room, Yao Zhiming saw two bottles of Moutai on the table.

Yao Renfu had spent all his money on them, intending to share a drink with Yao Zhiming. Now, however, they were forever separated. Mai Chenghuan came to find Yao Zhiming at the hotel, but he had locked himself in the room, silently crying. Mai Chenghuan waited patiently in the hallway. Liu Wanyu and Mai Laitian arrived early in the morning and saw Mai Chenghuan dozing in the corridor.

Liu Wanyu, worried that Yao Zhiming might do something foolish, banged on the door. There was no response. Mai Chenghuan used a key to open the door. Yao Zhiming was leaning by the bed, speechless. Liu Wanyu and Mai Laitian took turns comforting him and even offered to fast with him. Seeing how haggard Yao Zhiming had become overnight, Mai Chenghuan felt heartbroken.
