Mai Chengzao packed up and left the law firm. Maomao called him over to help assemble fitness equipment. Mai Chengzao left his things at the door and easily assembled the treadmill. Maomao asked him to supervise his running and weight loss, and Mai Chengzao happily agreed. After leaving Maomao’s house, Mai Chengzao carried a large box home and happened to see a courier on the street. He began to consider becoming a deliveryman.

Mai Chenghuan was short on cash, so she searched online for a cost-effective renovation team. Xue Li came to her proactively and recommended a good one. Mai Chenghuan was naturally very grateful. Yao Zhiming flattered Madam Chen by introducing her to a client, hinting that she should thank Mai Chenghuan. Madam Chen immediately understood. Yao Zhiming happened to be there to sign the lease renewal, so Manager Zhang had the three of them take a photo together. Mai Chenghuan guessed that Yao Zhiming contributed to the banner and thanked him. Zhu Baoqiao suddenly called Mai Chenghuan for help. That’s when Mai Chenghuan found out that Xin Zhishan had suffered a stroke and was in emergency care. She initially didn’t want to get involved and was asked to call the Xin family instead.

Yao Zhiming reminded her not to meddle. Zhu Baoqiao had no money to pay for the surgery and was too afraid to call the Xin family. She kept calling Mai Chenghuan, who eventually gave in and called Xin Jialiang. Mai Chenghuan wanted to return the bank card to Xin Zhishan. She and Manager Zhang asked for leave and headed to the hospital. Yao Zhiming advised against it, but she insisted. So, Yao Zhiming drove her to the hospital.

The doctor asked Xin Zhishan’s family to sign the surgery consent form. When Zhu Baoqiao saw Mai Chenghuan, she made an excuse and fled. Mai Chenghuan called Xin Jialiang, who asked her to sign the form. Yao Zhiming came to stop her but was too late. He blamed her for getting involved, but Mai Chenghuan couldn’t just watch someone die. Xin Jialiang and Xin Jiali came shortly after. Zhu Baoqiao came quietly to ask about Xin Zhishan’s condition.

Xin Jiali caught her and insisted on settling the score. Seeing no way out, Zhu Baoqiao revealed she was pregnant with Xin Zhishan’s child. Chen Dejing fainted from shock. Xin Jiali, heavily pregnant, rushed forward to fight Zhu Baoqiao. Mai Chenghuan tried to stop them, but Xin Jiali turned her anger on her and began hitting her. Yao Zhiming did his best to shield Mai Chenghuan.

Unable to endure it anymore, Mai Chenghuan returned the bank card Xin Zhishan had given to silence her, then pulled Yao Zhiming away. Yao Zhiming praised her for how she handled everything that day. Mai Chenghuan invited him to dinner to thank him. After dinner, Yao Zhiming drove her home and suggested she take a day off tomorrow. But Mai Chenghuan was reluctant to miss out on the 1,500-yuan perfect attendance bonus.

Yao Zhiming dropped her off, and Zhang Peisheng called him to urge progress on the Xing'anli project. Thanks to the full efforts of the medical staff, Xin Zhishan was finally out of danger. Xin Jialiang tried to persuade Chen Dejing to visit him, but she refused. Xin Zhishan heard everything from inside the room. Xin Jialiang and Xin Jiali came in to see him. Xin Zhishan called Mai Chenghuan to thank her.

He acknowledged that had she not signed the consent form in time, he might not have survived. He admitted that his whole family had misjudged her and kept apologizing. He wanted to give her a large red envelope, but she politely declined. After work, Mai Chenghuan went to visit Maomao, who blamed her for getting involved with the Xin family’s business. She said she couldn’t ignore someone in need. Maomao gave her a beautiful necklace, which she loved.

Xin Jiali saw Chen Dejing crying alone in the living room and urged Xin Jialiang to reconcile with Mai Chenghuan to win back Xin Zhishan’s heart; otherwise, the family would fall apart. Liu Wanyu heard from neighbors that the nearby alley was about to be demolished, but their own alley wouldn’t be for now, and she felt deeply disheartened. Mai Chenghuan bought a lot of things and ran into Mai Chengzao at the door. He also carried a load of daily necessities. Not wanting her to worry, he kept his job loss a secret.
