Storm Eye Episode 30 Recap
> Storm Eye Recap
An Jing informed Ma Junhai that Fu Dayong was suspected of not only smuggling but also forging mining documents, and requested his cooperation in the arrest by personally escorting the truck with a monitoring device. At that moment, Ma Junhai received a call from Fu Dayong, and he was instructed to answer on speaker. Fu Dayong urged Ma Junhai to quickly prepare the truck convoy, stating he had all the goods ready and they needed to be shipped that day.
Ma Junhai feigned a delay, promising to contact the drivers, then ended the call. Ma Junhai expressed his disbelief to An Jing and Department Chief Song, explaining that Fu Dayong, whom he had known for over ten years, possessed an inexhaustible gold mine and, despite his love for money, would never risk his life with smuggling. He also wondered when National Security had started investigating Fu Dayong.
Ma Junhai recalled that only Ma Shang knew about Fu Dayong's request for him to deliver goods. An Jing advised him not to overthink it, promising everything would become clear after Fu Dayong's arrest. Still, Ma Junhai worried that Ma Shang might have committed a crime and pleaded with An Jing to help his son, fearing he was on a dangerous path. Just then, Ma Shang entered the room, surprising his father.
An Jing revealed that Ma Shang was a National Security agent. Ma Shang and his father spoke privately. Ma Junhai was upset, learning Ma Shang had been in National Security for ten years and had kept it a secret while his parents worried constantly. Ma Shang explained that his work involved special circumstances related to an ongoing case, and asked his father not to tell his mother, knowing her tendency to share information.
He then playfully suggested buying his father a new car to make amends for his decade-long deception, finally softening Ma Junhai's stance. Ma Junhai agreed to cooperate with National Security and was fitted with a monitoring device. Ma Shang, visibly concerned, urged his father to be very careful. Meanwhile, Fu Dayong called Qiao Xichuan, stating he wanted to see his daughter before the goods could be shipped. Qiao Xichuan assured him that a video call would be arranged.
Soon after, Fu Dayong and Ma Junhai set off with the convoy. Ma Shang was anxious for his father's safety, but An Jing reassured him that comprehensive arrangements were in place to ensure Ma Junhai's protection. As the convoy proceeded along a mountain road, Ma Junhai announced a stop to cool the brake pads. Fu Dayong observed the drivers, noting many unfamiliar faces, as they were National Security personnel An Jing had arranged.
Ma Junhai quickly explained that the business had been tough, leading to frequent changes in drivers, which Fu Dayong wouldn't notice as he typically didn't accompany the shipments. Fu Dayong then specifically asked for the name of the young driver in their truck, "Li Kun," and conspicuously held his phone outside the window, raising suspicion. An Jing, observing from the command center, immediately warned the driver, Lao Liu (who was posing as Li Kun), to be extra vigilant.
Around the same time, Pang Yishan received documents about "Knowledge & Invention Union Company," discovering its investors included the Hermes Group. He tried desperately to contact Miao Huanyang but couldn't reach him, so he went to see Miao Fei. Pang Yishan stressed the urgency, stating Dinghua's survival was at stake and he needed to speak with Miao Huanyang immediately. Miao Fei admitted she couldn't arrange it, leading Pang Yishan to deduce that Miao Huanyang must have been arrested.
Miao Fei's silence confirmed his suspicion. Pang Yishan questioned Miao Fei about her father's past, specifically his revealing of company deal base prices. He revealed that those previous deals were backed by the Hermes Group, just like "Knowledge & Invention Union Company." Given this dangerous connection, Miao Fei advised stopping the acquisition immediately.
The convoy arrived at a warehouse, not a port, which An Jing noted as unusual for smuggling and potentially indicated a change in plans or an armed gang. Ma Shang considered it a safety measure to change hands, suggesting the entire warehouse might be controlled by the smugglers. Department Chief Song also warned all teams to be cautious, as the smuggling gang could be armed.
While the cargo was being unloaded, Ma Junhai engaged Fu Dayong in conversation, asking how much he would earn from such a shipment. Fu Dayong revealed it was around thirty million. When Ma Junhai then mentioned that Fu Dayong's child was grown and studying abroad, implying he should be at ease, Fu Dayong's heart sank, prompting Ma Junhai's suspicion. Ma Junhai then excused himself to the restroom.
In a secure area, he reported to An Jing that he felt something was wrong. He reiterated that Fu Dayong, a man he knew well, would not engage in such risky activities, especially since he was financially stable after having shed his past dark history. Ma Junhai shared his observations about Fu Dayong's probing questions to Lao Liu and placing his phone out the window, leading him to suspect that Fu Dayong was being coerced.
An Jing instructed Ma Junhai to complete the unloading and then leave for his safety, promising to handle the rest. Their conversation was overheard by a security guard, but Lao Liu, who had been keeping watch, promptly knocked the guard unconscious. Ma Shang agreed with his father's assessment, suggesting that if Fu Dayong held critical information, rushing an arrest could lead to unforeseen problems. He proposed that Ma Junhai directly reveal his identity to Fu Dayong.
An Jing expressed concern about Ma Junhai's safety if he did this. Lao Liu then relayed An Jing's message to Ma Junhai, explaining the risks but affirming his right to choose. Ma Junhai decided to speak with Fu Dayong directly. An Jing immediately put the teams on high alert, ready for the capture. Ma Junhai called Fu Dayong aside for a private talk, and once inside, directly asked if his phone was being monitored before revealing his own monitoring device.
Fu Dayong became agitated, grabbing Ma Junhai's collar and tearfully exclaiming that his daughter was in the hands of those people, and if the goods weren't delivered on time, she would be in danger. Ma Junhai assured him that National Security could hear everything and would help. Zixuan quickly identified Fu Dayong's daughter as Fu Mengyao. An Jing, however, expressed a possibility that Fu Dayong might be fabricating the kidnapping, having sent his daughter abroad to facilitate a major deal.
She suggested proceeding with the first part of their planned operation. Department Chief Song worried about the risk of information leakage if they tried to negotiate with the captors, jeopardizing the hostage's safety. Ma Shang, agitated with concern for his father, supported the idea that they couldn't retreat now and there was no better solution. Department Chief Song ultimately decided to apprehend the individuals at the warehouse first. An Jing then gave the order for the operation to commence.
Fu Dayong was brought before Department Chief Song and was surprised to learn that his phone, which he believed was monitored, was not. He then showed a video of his kidnapped daughter on his phone, pleading for her rescue and offering to accept any punishment in return. After the arrest, An Jing thanked Ma Junhai, acknowledging his crucial role in safeguarding the hostage.
Ma Junhai, however, was still upset, expressing his hurt that even his own son, Ma Shang, had suspected him. An Jing quickly intervened, explaining that in their line of work, personal feelings cannot be involved when dealing with suspicious circumstances. Ma Shang tried to speak, but An Jing gently signaled him to stop. Ma Junhai lamented the decade-long deception. An Jing then asked Ma Shang to step out so she could talk to Ma Junhai privately.
An Jing patiently explained that Ma Shang had been caring for his parents in ways they didn't realize. She recounted how Ma Shang had been deeply troubled when his parents' company was investigated, how he deliberately took a beating from a fired co-worker to protect his cover, working tirelessly at Dinghua during the day and analyzing cases at night.
She added that he would return home late every night, no matter how far or tired he was, just to avoid alarming his parents. An Jing emphasized the immense pressure and loneliness Ma Shang endured by keeping such a secret, appealing to Ma Junhai's understanding as a former soldier who understood the importance of following orders.
