Glory of Special Forces Episode 45 (Ending) Recap
> Glory of Special Forces Recap
Yan Poyue, disguised as a shepherd, entered the village and successfully met with the informant, who offered him black goat milk. From an observation post, it was noted that Yan Poyue had entered ten minutes prior and hadn't emerged. Charlie team reported successful contact with the informant to Alpha Zero command. Command believed the mission was straightforward, with the Quick Reaction Force set to arrive in 15 minutes, allowing for an early completion.
However, Lv Tu expressed doubt, stating that the organizing committee wouldn't make their victory so easy. Shortly after, Yan Poyue and his team realized they had walked into a trap. Amidst enemy contact and movement, a bomb exploded, resulting in the loss of one R nation team member and one A nation team member. Observing from outside, Jason reported to Alpha Zero that the mission had failed and requested backup, believing their personnel were exposed.
However, Pei Ta Yan intervened, stopping Jason from retreating, declaring that the mission had only just begun and stating his new plan was to "rush through it." While Yan Poyue fought fiercely against multiple enemies, Pei Ta Yan, without waiting for further instructions, charged into the village to assist Yan Poyue.
Pei Ta Yan soon relayed to Yan Poyue that the battle in the village seemed to be centrally commanded, suspecting that Target S might be located in the tower on the west side. Yan Poyue confirmed Target S's location in the tower. Pei Ta Yan then instructed Jason and Sergei to converge at the same tower and call for support.
After fierce fighting and a strategic use of grenades and flashbangs, Yan Poyue and Pei Ta Yan breached the tower, where they apprehended Target S. Terrorist planes bombed the village as Guo Xiaoxiao and her support team were three minutes away, with the Quick Reaction Force still ten minutes out. Inside the tower, the team received a new directive: rescue the crew of a downed Cobra 2 helicopter within ten minutes, sending coordinates to them.
Given the open, exposed crash site, team members quickly realized that attempting a rescue before QRF arrival would be suicidal, leading to a debate about waiting for backup. Jason argued that their primary mission was to capture Target S alive, suggesting they should prioritize that. Yan Poyue agreed that a split team was necessary, with one group guarding S and the other performing the rescue. He volunteered to lead the rescue.
Guo Xiaoxiao, Xiao Yun Jie, and Pei Ta Yan quickly joined him. Noticing that only Chinese members were volunteering, Xiao Yun Jie expressed concern about losing credit and emphatically reminded Sergei to come and rescue them, stating they didn't trust Jason to guard Target S alone. As the four advanced towards the crash site, an unnerving silence settled.
Guo Xiaoxiao identified potential sniper positions: 11 o'clock on the left of the ravine, 2 o'clock on the right, and a challenging long-range spot at 12 o'clock on the opposite mountain. Yan Poyue assigned Guo Xiaoxiao to suppress the 2 o'clock position, himself to the 11 o'clock, and Xiao Yun Jie to provide cover fire. Pei Ta Yan was assigned to reconnaissance after a brief discussion, with him insisting on going to conserve Yan Poyue's energy in the high-altitude environment.
Guo Xiaoxiao found the sniper on the mountain top at 12 o'clock, but the distance was too great for effective fire suppression. Yan Poyue, under cover, volunteered to locate and neutralize the sniper. Before he could reach the sniper, the threat was unexpectedly neutralized. Ground forces arrived to rendezvous with the team, prompting Yan Poyue to immediately withdraw. Upon regrouping, Pei Ta Yan acknowledged that Yan Poyue was stronger than him.
He admitted that if this was a real battle, his leg would have been ruined. As a result, Pei Ta Yan handed over his command to Yan Poyue, declaring that he owed him his life. Yan Poyue casually accepted a pack of cookies from Pei Ta Yan, signaling an end to their past rivalry. The team, now under Yan Poyue's command and still holding Target S, continued their mission.
Inside the vehicle, Xiao Yun Jie speculated about the next phase of the mission, questioning Yan Poyue if he, as a test maker, would end the mission when everyone was exhausted, noting it was an ideal time to test resilience. Yan Poyue agreed, sensing the mission was far from over. His premonition proved correct when their convoy suddenly came under heavy fire, forcing everyone to take cover. The vehicle quickly succumbed to the intense shelling, forcing everyone to disembark.
Yan Poyue instructed Mao Lang to attend to the injured Pei Ta Yan. Faced with overwhelming enemy numbers and artillery fire, and without air support, Yan Poyue decided to stay behind to provide cover for the others to retreat, emphasizing that failure to do so would lead to mission failure. While Gu Meng believed Yan Poyue was being reckless, Lv Tu understood that Yan Poyue's focus had shifted from merely completing the mission to fulfilling a soldier's profound duty.
Despite Xiao Yun Jie's protests and insistence on staying with him, Yan Poyue ordered Sergei and Xiao Yun Jie to lead the rest of the team in a tactical retreat via the safer north mountain path, while he remained behind to hold off the enemy. Lv Tu noted that Yan Poyue made the same choice as Staff Sergeant White during a desert ambush, recognizing it as the most effective decision in such a dire situation.
During their retreat, Xiao Yun Jie was shot by a sniper while protecting Sergei, who called out the name Yura. The team faced continued pursuit and intense sniper fire, making it difficult to pinpoint the enemy's position. Guo Xiaoxiao, whose foot was hit, decided to draw out the opposing sniper, and despite the injury, she successfully located and shot her adversary.
The enemy female sniper, Katherine Hu, then appeared, acknowledging Guo Xiaoxiao with a salute and congratulating her as a "brilliant sniper," a gesture of earned respect. Back at the camp, team members were concerned about Yan Poyue, who had not returned. His signal had vanished after he repelled the final wave of enemy forces, and despite continuous searches by the organizing committee, there was no news of him.
Katherine Hu, the sniper Guo Xiaoxiao had engaged, also returned, reassuring the concerned teams that the committee would ensure the safety of all participants within the 50-kilometer no-man's land. After a long night spent alone in the desert, Yan Poyue finally reappeared at the base as the new day dawned. The organizing committee announced Country A as the winning team, citing their effective choices in modern anti-terrorism warfare, mission completion, and self-preservation.
Xiao Yun Jie expressed frustration that their victory was "stolen," but Yan Poyue dismissed the ranking. He stated that their true objective was not to "show power" or "prove how great they are," but to foster unity in the global anti-terrorism coalition and free the world from terror. In this sense, he asserted, they were successful. Lv Tu affirmed Yan Poyue's perspective, stating that rankings were merely "flowers and applause" on their journey.
He emphasized that the team's true achievement lay in their trials and transformation, which had made them stronger for future, more challenging missions. Subsequently, Yan Poyue was awarded a special medal of valour for demonstrating unwavering courage and a spirit of sacrifice throughout the competition. Back in China, Yan Poyue delivered a speech representing all participants of the Warrior Competition.
He reminded his "comrades and fellow students" that joining the People's Armed Police Force marked the beginning of "a never-ending journey," urging them to always remember the vows they made when donning their uniforms. He reiterated the pledge to obey the Communist Party of China's leadership, dedicate themselves to the people, uphold discipline, fulfill their duties, work diligently, and train rigorously to become loyal defenders of the Party and the people. He concluded by emphasizing that, under any circumstances, they would never betray their country or defect from the Armed Police Force.
