Glory of Special Forces Episode 39 Recap
> Glory of Special Forces Recap
Late at night, Xiao Fei, holding a stolen dagger, infiltrated the water prison to rescue Yan Poyue. Despite his personal disdain for Yan Poyue, he found himself envious, but mostly grateful to still be a Chinese soldier. He told Yan Poyue that he had unlocked the fence, and the rest was up to him. As Xiao Fei helped Yan Poyue, they extended their fists and exchanged their traditional pledge: "Dispatch me in the first battle, victory will be assured."
The following day, a dagger belonging to Xin Min was discovered on one of Xing Tian's men. Lai immediately confronted Xin Min, questioning why his dagger was on his brother and how it could have ended up with Yan Poyue. Xin Min vehemently denied any involvement, claiming he had no idea and suggesting Lai might have planted it to frame him.
Xin Min further accused Yan Poyue, stating he should have killed him earlier, which prompted Xing Tian to reflect on who had previously prevented Yan Poyue's death. When asked who he thought was responsible, Xin Min pointed directly at Xiao Fei, declaring him a Chinese armed police officer and an undercover agent. Xiao Fei calmly retorted that he was the one who captured Yan Poyue, making it illogical for him to then help him escape.
Before further arguments, Mia shot and killed Xin Min. Despite Xin Min's death, Xing Tian's suspicion lingered. He directly asked both Xiao Fei and Lai why an undercover agent would go to such lengths to bring Yan Poyue back alive. Lai reminded Xing Tian of his own teaching: "Life is worth more alive than dead." Xing Tian acknowledged this, telling them they had passed his test and dismissed them.
However, as Xiao Fei walked away, Xing Tian muttered that the gun he had given Xiao Fei the previous day was unloaded, implying he knew Xiao Fei was aware of it and that his suspicion remained. Back at Cheetah, Yan Poyue participated in the solemn memorial for their fallen comrade, Yue Kong. A speaker acknowledged the brutal and cunning nature of the criminals they faced, but reiterated their unwavering responsibility to combat drug trafficking.
The speaker emphasized how Cheetah's soldiers had ceaselessly fought in the jungles, terrifying criminals and proving the Chinese People's Armed Police Force to be an unbeatable power, before saluting all martyrs. Yan Poyue reflected on his commitment to the nation and its people, acknowledging that in critical moments, they would never retreat, but rather, unite in despair to forge a path to survival and grow stronger.
Guo Xiaoxiao was summoned by Qin Feng and Leng Jing, knowing they intended to assign her a new spotter. She firmly refused, stating her preference to work alone and requesting that, if they truly cared for her well-being, they would not assign anyone to her. Qin Feng explained that while snipers are powerful, they are also vulnerable, and a partner ensures mutual support in unexpected situations.
However, Guo Xiaoxiao tragically recounted that everyone who tried to protect her, like Leng Bing and Yue Kong, had died. She insisted she couldn't bear another sacrifice and was only fit to fight alone, pleading for their approval. Qin Feng, understanding that assigning a spotter now would only increase her stress, temporarily agreed to her request. Leng Jing, though concerned about regulations, decided to speak with Guo Xiaoxiao privately later.
Guo Xiaoxiao then presented Leng Jing with a scarf, explaining that she had knitted it for Leng Bing, who had always wanted to give it to Leng Jing for her birthday. Guo Xiaoxiao expressed her sorrow at fulfilling Leng Bing's wish this way. She confided that after Leng Bing's death, she felt like a Lone Wolf. She had hoped to change after joining Cheetah, but Yue Kong's sacrifice had struck her with renewed fear.
She felt it was her destiny to be without a partner, lamenting that she couldn't even say a proper goodbye to those she fought alongside. Leng Jing assured her that Leng Bing and Yue Kong died in battle and it was not her fault. Guo Xiaoxiao, however, wished she had been the one to die.
Leng Jing then took the scarf and gently draped it around Guo Xiaoxiao, telling her that if Leng Bing could, she would still choose to protect Guo Xiaoxiao, as their bond was an exchange of life and fearless courage. Meanwhile, at the memorial, Bai Long cried tears of grief beside Cao Ben, whose severe injuries had rendered him unable to hear.
Bai Long tearfully confronted him, asking why he had to use himself as a shooting tripod, expressing his pain over Cao Ben's irreversible ear damage and inability to return to the battlefield. Putting a hearing aid on Cao Ben, Bai Long apologized for not participating in the Cobra Operation and failing to protect Xiang Fei, for which he had wrongly blamed Cao Ben.
Cao Ben, now able to hear, responded that it wasn't Bai Long's fault, explaining that Xiang Fei was their elder brother and a soldier who did what a captain should do. Bai Long solemnly declared that Cao Ben would always be the captain of Team Nine. When Cao Ben lamented that he could no longer go to the battlefield, Bai Long promised to go in his stead and bring everyone back alive, affirming their unbreakable brotherhood.
Red Scorpion suffered significant losses, particularly after Xing Tian killed Deputy Officer Li, causing many of his men to flee. This made recruitment challenging for the organization. Xing Tian dismissed concerns from his subordinates about their dwindling numbers, asserting they would recruit from more distant villages if necessary. He then announced a horrifying new recruitment strategy: targeting children, anyone capable of holding a gun.
This led to widespread chaos in the nearby villages, where Red Scorpion forces indiscriminately captured people, killing those who couldn't be taken and destroying the evidence with explosions, including a Chinese doctor who was killed despite her pleas about International Red Cross protection. Xiao Fei questioned Lai about capturing so many children, wondering their purpose. Xing Tian, with a chilling look, explained that younger children are more useful, boasting that he himself had already killed two people at their age.
He elaborated on Kun Sheng's method of creating loyalty, describing how he would become these children's "God" by rescuing them from despair, providing food and clothes. He asserted that the younger children are, the more they will rely on and trust him, making them more lethal soldiers when they grow up. Xiao Fei visibly recoiled in disgust.
Later that night, Xiao Fei stealthily attempted to use a hidden phone to contact his superiors, but a child suddenly appeared, stating his dad told him to watch Xiao Fei, followed by Xing Tian's men. Xing Tian revealed he had activated a jammer, then confessed he had never truly trusted Xiao Fei but kept him alive because, as he often said, "Life is worth more alive than dead."
He then taunted Xiao Fei, explaining that while replacing him with a new undercover agent would be a hassle, Xiao Fei's usefulness as a human shield against Chinese retaliation (should Xiao Fei have sent evidence of Chinese casualties) was far greater.
Meanwhile, at the Chinese military intelligence headquarters, a grim update was delivered: an informant's GPS signal had been detected moving erratically, leading to the discovery of a woman's body—a border citizen abducted by Red Scorpion months prior—with their informant's locator hidden in her hair. Intelligence suggested Red Scorpion had installed a signal jammer, forcing the undercover agent to use this desperate method to relay their location.
With contact severed for twenty hours and Xiao Fei's identity as a former armed police officer turned anti-narcotics officer potentially compromised, combined with Xing Tian's possible escape, the Scorpion Capture Operation had to be accelerated. Troops were already amassed at the border for this joint operation with M Country, whose government had authorized their movement within a mutually agreed zone and pledged to block Red Scorpion's escape routes.
The mission was clear: destroy Red Scorpion and capture Xing Tian alive, bringing justice to China. Qin Feng and Lu Tu were immediately ordered to assemble Team Nine for deployment. As the helicopters lifted off, Xiao Yun Jie, still recovering from his leg injury and unable to join, saluted, hoping his comrades would return safely.
The rescue operation commenced with Qin Feng leading Cheetah, including Yan Poyue and other members of Team Nine, in an underwater infiltration of the Red Scorpion base. Guo Xiaoxiao, operating as "Tiger Claw #2" and positioned on the mountain opposite the base, confirmed Xing Tian's presence to "Tiger Head" (Qin Feng). Her team then encountered unexpected patrols, forcing them to move to a secondary sniper position, acknowledging their cover might be blown.
Inside the base, Xiao Fei was being brutally tortured, though Xing Tian had instructed his men to keep him alive. After eliminating several patrol drug dealers, Yan Poyue successfully navigated the complex layout, bypassing sentries and securing key positions. Finally, he located a severely beaten Xiao Fei. Yan Poyue initiated the identification protocol, asking for the code. A weak but clear voice from Xiao Fei responded, "Dispatch me in the first battle, victory will be assured."
Yan Poyue confirmed his identity and called for emergency medical support for Xiao Fei, assigning a team member (identified as "Three") to care for him. However, the mission immediately plunged into crisis as drone signals became jammed, and the drug dealers launched a Rocket-propelled grenade towards the team, leaving their situation unknown.
