Glory of Special Forces Episode 31 Recap
> Glory of Special Forces Recap
After six hours of engagement, the Blue Team's kill ratio reached ten percent, infuriating Regiment Commander Liu. During dinner, Liu attempted to boost morale by emphasizing their twenty-five times superior force and declaring that victory would be theirs. He stressed that their opponents in this drill were not allies but terrorists, and that they must hold their ground.
Meanwhile, Qin Feng recounted a story to his Red Team, the "Cheetahs," portraying them as protagonists tasked with destroying over fifty percent of a deeply entrenched biological weapons base, which he described not as an exercise, but as a real war they must win, even if it meant "poking a hole in the sky" and utterly destroying the enemy's barracks.
He then outlined the attack plan: destroy the enemy's fuel depot, weapon depot, and command center, with a "behead all" action on command personnel. Before the general assault, they would use graphite bombs to disable the enemy's electrical systems. Liu was advised to move to the command car for safety, but he insisted on remaining, considering himself the main bait for the "Cheetahs." The Cheetahs initiated their assault. Under intense fire, the Cheetahs struggled to gain an immediate advantage.
Qin Feng's team utilized rain-proof anti-hail rockets to disperse the clouds, followed by graphite thread rockets. An officer explained that the Cheetahs had calculated the precise moment to launch the graphite threads when fog was rising in the Blue Team's barracks, causing the threads to descend rapidly and burn out all electrical circuits. This created an environment of minimal visibility, perfect for close-quarters combat.
Regiment Commander Liu, realizing Qin Feng intended to "take advantage of the chaos," declared he would "clear the water" to thwart him. Ignoring Qin Feng’s order for a general retreat, Yan Poyue and Xiao Yunjie broke through the encirclement, heading straight for the command center. Xiao Yunjie drew enemy fire, but Yan Poyue discovered the tactical command center was a decoy. Qin Feng, realizing they had disobeyed, immediately ordered them to evacuate.
The battle intensified, with many Cheetah operatives eliminated, but their communications were also disrupted. As the Blue Team pressed their advantage, celebrating their perceived victory, Cao Ben decided to cover Yan Poyue and Xiao Yunjie’s escape. Yan Poyue initially resisted, insisting they should succeed as a unit, but Cao Ben argued that only their escape could maximize the casualties inflicted on the Blue Team and secure victory for Cheetah.
Elsewhere, Yue Kong, having completed his twenty-five targets, also realized a collective retreat was impossible and chose to cover Guo Xiaoxiao's withdrawal. Eventually, Qin Feng, Bai Long, and Cao Ben were all "eliminated." Despite Bai Long's lingering disdain for Cao Ben, he expressed a willingness to fall in battle alongside him, to which Cao Ben smiled. After a night of fierce fighting, Regiment Commander Liu was confident in their victory.
He was informed that Qin Feng had been "shot and eliminated" and that the Blue Team's kill ratio was still being counted, but "definitely not more than forty percent." Reflecting on the battle, Liu grudgingly admired the Cheetahs, a thirty-two-person special forces squad, for inflicting thirty-five percent casualties on their nearly one-thousand-person detachment. He acknowledged that the Cheetahs truly lived up to the saying "quality over quantity." Liu confidently approached Qin Feng's "body," congratulating him on the exercise.
However, Qin Feng countered that "Cheetah will never lose," claiming he had exceeded his mission target within ten minutes of the battle. He suggested Liu "do a head count again," stating that the drill was far from over. Liu recounted twenty-nine "bodies," with three missing, and questioned the count. He reminded Qin Feng that Red Team needed to inflict fifty percent heavy losses on the Blue Team to win.
Even with the "illegal" use of graphite bombs, they had only caused thirty-eight percent damage. Liu wondered how the three remaining Red Team members could possibly account for the additional twelve percent. Qin Feng confidently stated it was "simple" and that he had "made arrangements." As Liu approached, curious about Qin Feng's claim, Qin Feng dramatically detonated a simulated bomb on his "body."
He revealed that all eight of Cheetah's captains and vice-captains carried such devices, explaining their real-world destructive power. He then declared Liu and his surrounding officers "eliminated," arguing that while they couldn't capture him alive, their curiosity and vanity would lead them to confirm his "corpse," making them vulnerable.
Liu conceded that Qin Feng had exploited his curiosity and vanity, calculating that his own "elimination" (worth three percent) plus all officers within the explosion's radius pushed the Blue Team's casualties beyond forty percent. Despite this, he again reminded Qin Feng that the drill was not over. Liu immediately appointed Sun Ning as the new Blue Team top commander, tasking him with eliminating the remaining enemy: Yan Poyue, Xiao Yunjie, and their spotter, Guo Xiaoxiao.
Sun Ning assembled three fifteen-person teams, led by Zhou Zijian, Gao Zhun, and Zhang Tianyang, all of whom had previously served with Yan Poyue and Xiao Yunjie. Zhou Zijian's team was ordered to pursue them from the front, Gao Zhun's team to encircle and wear them down, and Zhang Tianyang's sniper team to suppress Guo Xiaoxiao. Sun Ning rallied his forces, emphasizing their numerical superiority and the need to achieve victory that night.
Yan Poyue and Xiao Yunjie soon detected multiple enemy snipers, causing Yan Poyue to worry about Guo Xiaoxiao. Zhou Zijian, having anticipated their movements, led his team around a minefield, relentlessly taunting Yan Poyue about his past to provoke him. Zhou’s tactics eventually forced Guo Xiaoxiao to expose her position. Zhang Tianyang's sniper team then pursued Guo Xiaoxiao, while Zhou Zijian and Gao Zhun focused on Yan Poyue and Xiao Yunjie.
The two were pinned down and forced to use their last smoke bomb to create a diversion. Xiao Yunjie sacrificed himself in a "one for one" exchange, eliminating Zhou Zijian and covering Yan Poyue's escape, knowing that with Yan Poyue still in the fight, their chances of victory were higher. Zhou Zijian realized Xiao Yunjie had stalled him for Yan Poyue, but it was too late.
Meanwhile, a Blue Team report indicated their western ammunition depot had been ambushed, but damage was not severe; the enemy's primary goal was to steal ammunition. The Blue Team's kill ratio was now estimated at forty-three percent. Xiao Yunjie, even after being "eliminated," continued to taunt the Blue Team and stall for time.
