Glory of Special Forces Episode 26 Recap
> Glory of Special Forces Recap
During the track competition, Yan Poyue sprained his ankle. Despite being in pain, he dismissed help. Xiao Yun Jie, who had won the race, came over, prompting Yan Poyue to tell him to stop showing off. Xia Li, frustrated by their constant bickering, intervened, suggesting they compete academically, asserting that boys with good grades are the most handsome.
Inspired by her words, Xiao Yun Jie challenged Yan Poyue to compete on grades in the next exam, with the loser calling the winner "grandpa." Yan Poyue accepted. After the exam, Xiao Yun Jie confidently called Yan Poyue "grandson," but Yan Poyue revealed he deliberately drew a picture on his test paper, incurring a ten-point deduction, yet still outscored Xiao Yun Jie. Someone mentioned Yan Poyue had drawn a portrait of their language teacher.
Yan Poyue, now the "grandpa," playfully assigned his cleaning duty to Xiao Yun Jie. Xiao Yun Jie tried to claim a previous "grandpa" bet from an earlier semester, but Yan Poyue corrected him. The group then reminisced about their notoriously "thick-skinned" antics, as their teacher Ms. Jiao often described them, and their classmate Sun Yao Peng once compared them to "urinal pots" because only their mouths were good.
The conversation shifted to Xia Li, with curious teammates asking if she was pretty. Xiao Yun Jie described her as having long hair, glasses, fair skin, and "squinty eyes" when she smiled, insisting she was attractive. Yan Poyue then revealed that Xiao Yun Jie "really liked her back then" and had even fought for her.
Xiao Yun Jie, flustered, denied it and tried to turn the accusation back on Yan Poyue, but everyone pressed him to tell the story of the fight, which he reluctantly agreed to do. Recognizing the class's overall poor academic performance, Xia Li, the study committee member, gave Yan Poyue and Xiao Yun Jie her personal study notes, urging them to stop their unproductive competitions and aim for healthy rivalry.
Xiao Yun Jie promised to study hard, even if it meant calling Yan Poyue "grandpa" for another six months, while Yan Poyue left. Xiao Yun Jie then shyly asked Xia Li to come watch his basketball game after school, inviting her to bring friends along. Meanwhile, Xiao Yun Jie's poor grades and constant trouble-making led his uncle to discuss pulling him out of school with the teacher, arguing that an early career might be better.
Xiao Yun Jie, however, burst into the room, declaring his desire to stay in school and prove himself by achieving good grades in the final exams. His uncle, frustrated by his nephew's past behavior, warned him that this was his last chance and made him swear to stop causing trouble, or he would be withdrawn. Xiao Yun Jie swore.
During this period, Yan Poyue's mother often heard arguments from Xiao Yun Jie's aunt and uncle next door, who, fueled by "feudal superstition," blamed Xiao Yun Jie for their inability to have children, believing he occupied the "child's place." Yan Poyue's father asked about his relationship with Xiao Yun Jie, to which Yan Poyue replied they were good.
The next day, in a rare display of discipline, both boys arrived at school early and studied without their usual bickering, surprising their classmates. That day, Xia Li was uncharacteristically late and later, at lunch, was seen serving food to the school bully, Chen Hui. Chen Hui had stolen her diary and was publicly humiliating her with the secret that she "liked someone."
Xiao Yun Jie, enraged, was about to physically intervene, but Yan Poyue stopped him, reminding him of his solemn oath to his uncle. Yan Poyue also urged Xia Li to come over. Despite Xiao Yun Jie's protests that Xia Li was his best friend, Chen Hui continued to torment her, forcing her to wipe his shoe. That evening, Yan Poyue and Xiao Yun Jie sought revenge. They ambushed Chen Hui, placed a trash can over his head, and beat him.
This incident marked a significant shift in their relationship. Although Chen Hui couldn't identify his attackers, he found a wrist guard specific to the school's sports team. The teacher, Mr. Cui, convened the sports team, emphasizing the severity of the "appalling event" and threatening severe penalties or expulsion if the perpetrators didn't confess. Yan Poyue stepped forward, claiming sole responsibility, stating his "punches and kicks were fast enough for one person to feel like two."
When Chen Hui insisted there were two attackers, Yan Poyue provocatively offered to demonstrate again. The teacher intervened, dismissing Chen Hui's aunt's accusations and noting that Yan Poyue wouldn't have targeted Chen Hui without reason. Yan Poyue and Xiao Yun Jie were disciplined. That night, Yan Poyue's mother, speaking on the phone, expressed frustration that he had been caught, reminding him of his scout training and the importance of leaving no evidence.
Yan Poyue received a demerit and was punished by his father with trail running. When Xiao Yun Jie asked about his future, Yan Poyue declared his desire to join the army. Xiao Yun Jie immediately vowed to join with him, stating he would follow wherever Yan Poyue went. Xiao Yun Jie concluded his story by saying he attended a sports school in the northeast before they enlisted together.
When pressed for an update on Xia Li, he simply stated she went abroad after graduation and they lost contact. When asked who liked Xia Li, Yan Poyue again claimed she was "Xiao's dream girl," a notion Xiao Yun Jie shyly denied. Qin Feng, having listened to their stories, was pleased, noting that mutual understanding strengthens comradeship.
Someone also observed that after four days, none of the male soldiers perceived Guo Xiaoxiao as a "female soldier," highlighting her seamless integration into the team. Later that night, Xiao Yun Jie, unable to sleep, started a playful "Trumpet Radio Station" broadcast. When others asked him to talk more about Xia Li, he feigned sleep. The storytelling continued, and Yue Kong, moved by Yan Poyue and Xiao Yun Jie's accounts, recalled his own two childhood friends.
When urged to share a "love story," Yue Kong hesitated, unsure if a particular incident qualified. He described growing up with Wang Fan He and Dai Jin in the armed police family quarters, constantly getting into mischief. One day, his father, who was home briefly before a midnight assignment, brought his service pistol.
Despite his mother's attempts to stop his father from scolding Yue Kong for past gun-related incidents, his father instructed her to prevent Yue Kong from touching the weapon, emphasizing the danger. After his father fell asleep, Yue Kong, fascinated by the Type-92 semi-automatic pistol, which he knew was reserved for high-ranking officers and lauded for its accuracy and low recoil, secretly took it to show his friends.
He assured them the safety was on, even demonstrating by pulling the trigger without it firing. They then played a game of "terrorists and commander." In the heat of the game, Yue Kong urged Dai Jin, who was playing medic, to shoot, leading to an accidental discharge that injured Yue Kong's arm. Yue Kong's mother, worried about the repercussions for his father, who had been summoned by his superior due to the gun incident, unfairly blamed Wang Fan He.
Yue Kong, however, admitted to his mother that he had given Wang Fan He the gun and told him to pull the trigger (a cover-up to protect Dai Jin). Wang Fan He's parents arrived to apologize, with his father forcing Wang Fan He to kneel. Yue Kong's mother reassured them it was only a flesh wound.
Later, Yue Kong explained to Wang Fan He that they couldn't tell their parents that Dai Jin had fired the shot, fearing her mother, a nurse, would lose her job. Wang Fan He, solely wanting to prevent Dai Jin from crying, took the blame.
Yue Kong acknowledged Wang Fan He's quick thinking and dismissed the teasing from others about being wounded by a girl and letting his friend take the fall, stating that at their age, they believed it was a "man's matter" to endure hardship without involving a girl. Yue Kong's father, Yue Bai Shan, faced disciplinary action for the incident and severely beat Yue Kong upon returning home, forbidding him from ever touching a gun again.
He angrily declared that Yue Kong had wasted ten years of his hard work and accused him of sabotaging a previous mine removal mission he was involved in despite his arm injury, stating that Yue Kong would only get people killed if he joined the army. Yue Kong, however, still found ways to pursue his fascination. Yue Kong, Wang Fan He, and Dai Jin, known as the "Three Musketeers Of The Quarters," grew up closely.
They often snuck into the barracks wearing stolen adult uniforms. As they matured, Dai Jin blossomed into a beautiful young woman, though she retained her playful nature. Yue Kong admitted it was impossible not to develop feelings for her. One day, the trio attempted to "take guns for training" by impersonating soldiers with stolen uniforms and IDs.
When questioned by the soldier on duty about their identification, Yue Kong claimed they had left their IDs in the dorm, but the soldier grew suspicious. The three were forced to flee, pursued by the guard. Later, while discussing their future, Wang Fan He acknowledged his lack of academic talent compared to Yue Kong, but hoped to join the military academy and earn a good position.
When Yue Kong suggested Dai Jin join them, she firmly stated her intention to study at a fine arts academy. Yue Kong joked about buying her expensive paintings in the future, prompting Dai Jin to tease him about needing to make a lot of money. Dai Jin confided in them that she felt a bicycle was following her home from art class and asked them to pick her up after evening study.
One evening, a group of hooligans surrounded Dai Jin, attempting to harass her. Wang Fan He rushed in with a brick but was ineffective. Yue Kong arrived and brandished what appeared to be a live grenade, threatening to light it up. The hooligans, terrified, quickly fled as Yue Kong shouted for Dai Jin to run. Furious about the grenade incident, Yue Kong's father, Yue Bai Shan, forbade him from joining the military and ordered him to stay home and study.
He berated Yue Kong, referencing the previous mine removal mission Yue Kong had been involved in despite his arm injury, calling him a "black sheep" who would endanger his comrades. Yue Kong's mother tried to reason with his father, suggesting Yue Kong, with his excellent grades and English skills, could pursue a career as a diplomat after attending a prestigious university. However, Yue Kong asserted that his dream was to be a soldier, believing it was inherently in his "genes."
Eventually, Dai Jin achieved her dream and was admitted to the Fine Arts Academy, ranking third among over a thousand applicants. Yue Kong also excelled, gaining admission to Yun Ling University for English. Their relationship solidified during college. During one of Wang Fan He's rare military leaves, the three friends met for dinner.
Wang Fan He shared details about his rigorous training, including cultural courses, tactical theory, and experience with various firearms like the Type 88 rifle, QBZ-95 rifle, and high-precision sniper rifles. Yue Kong, still harboring his military dream, subtly challenged Wang Fan He, who confidently asserted his superior strength.
Dai Jin tried to steer the conversation back to their future plans, mentioning her intention to become a lecturer and Yue Kong's plan to intern at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hinting at marriage once their careers were stable. Despite his university path, Yue Kong's dream of being a soldier never faded. He secretly enlisted in the army.
His mother was upset about his decision, feeling he took after his father and questioning his choice to become a private instead of attending military school. She even suggested leveraging his father's connections with the detachment leader. However, Yue Kong reassured his parents he would excel and reminded his mother of a soldier's duty to obey orders.
Dai Jin, though heartbroken and feeling their shared plans were abandoned, decided to give him another chance, promising to wait for his return from service. With that, Yue Kong's interrupted military journey restarted. He found true fulfillment in the rigorous training, feeling "truly alive" while covered in sweat, mud, and water.
A fellow soldier sarcastically remarked that Yue Kong's achievements, such as being named "Most Outstanding Soldier" and being considered for promotion, were simply because his father was a military commander. Yue Kong refuted this, claiming his success was self-made, but the soldier persisted, pointing out that everyone knew the detachment commander was already arranging for Yue Kong to pursue further studies and promotion. At that moment, Yue Kong of the 1st Squadron, 3rd Platoon, was called, indicating someone was looking for him.
