During a tactical training session, Yan Poyue once again challenged the established methods, proposing that the team could achieve the objective in three minutes instead of the allotted five minutes and fifteen seconds. However, Lv Tu firmly disagreed, emphasizing that while speed might be gained, it could lead to casualties, which goes against the principles of a well-trained special forces unit that aims for minimal sacrifice and maximum victory.

When Yan Poyue pressed about critical battlefield choices, Lv Tu clarified that such decisions are a commander's responsibility, and combatants must obey orders without question. Bai Long supported Lv Tu, explaining that in emergencies, the team must maintain defensive positions and await further instructions from superiors. Lv Tu reiterated that Cheetah would not adopt unproven tactics. Yan Poyue persisted, requesting to simulate an attack at his own pace, promising to drop the matter if it didn't significantly improve performance.

Lv Tu, however, stressed that training, while simulating real combat, is not the same as actual warfare, and such a fast advance could lead to the loss of all teammates, which is not the ethos of their special forces. Suddenly, Lv Tu announced a change in plans: the day's teamwork training was suspended, and Captain Qin Feng had introduced a new "experimental project."

The team was led to an unfamiliar location where Cao Ben was waiting, joining Team Nine as a regular member, after Ma Liang was reassigned to maintain the team's strength at eight members. Qin Feng instructed them to live there for ten days, with basic food and hot showers provided, but gave no specific training agenda, leaving them to "interpret it however they want."

When Yue Kong raised concerns about Guo Xiaoxiao's presence as a female soldier among them for ten days, Qin Feng pointed out that Guo Xiaoxiao herself never regarded herself as "just a female soldier." After Qin Feng locked them in and left, Lv Tu remained puzzled about the true purpose of this new exercise, wondering if it was just about staying there and doing nothing. Inside, the team members were initially confused and relaxed, enjoying the amenities.

Yet, Yan Poyue and Guo Xiaoxiao remained silent and unengaged. Qin Feng, observing them via surveillance, revealed to Lv Tu that the goal was to foster mutual understanding and trust among these "lone wolves," believing that ten days of confinement would eventually make them open up and bond. Three days passed, but Yan Poyue and Guo Xiaoxiao still hadn't integrated. When others tried to talk to Yan Poyue about his past, he dismissed it, saying he had forgotten everything.

Similarly, Guo Xiaoxiao offered a blunt "There is nothing worth smiling for" when asked why she never smiled. However, Xiao Yunjie recalled seeing her smile only when she held a gun. Encouraged by the team, Guo Xiaoxiao finally began to share her story. She revealed that she first held a gun at the age of seven.

Her father, an ex-military man who became a taciturn forest ranger after retirement because he struggled to interact with people, taught her how to shoot. Her mother, unable to bear the isolation, left for the south and never returned. Growing up, Guo Xiaoxiao was also quiet, and her only friend was a dog named Batulu, who left her when she was seventeen, making her even more withdrawn. Her father believed the military was the only place suitable for her.

At eighteen, she enlisted and became a signaller at a communication headquarters. Her exceptional shooting skills were discovered during a communication support mission at an associate unit's training. While her unit's team struggled with moving targets, Guo Xiaoxiao, then a signaller from the communication squad, stepped forward and impressed everyone by flawlessly hitting three moving targets. This led to her selection for the women's special forces and eventually, she became a sniper.

Her assigned observer was a cheerful girl named Leng Bing, whose personality was the opposite of her "cold" name. Leng Bing, who nicknamed herself "Akita" because her smile resembled an Akita dog, affectionately called Guo Xiaoxiao "Wolf" due to her intense gaze, suggesting they become a "team of dog and wolf." Leng Bing was a warm and encouraging friend.

She once gave Guo Xiaoxiao a birthday gift in advance, urging her not to suppress her feelings, sharing how her own father died young from cancer due to keeping everything inside. Recalling Leng Bing, Guo Xiaoxiao briefly smiled, a rare sight for her teammates. She continued, recounting a perilous mission on the border where a mysterious sniper had seriously wounded four patrol soldiers within a month. Their troops were divided into teams to ambush and draw out the enemy.

During that mission, Leng Bing was shot, and Guo Xiaoxiao's gun was knocked away. Facing an enemy sniper, neither could move. Guo Xiaoxiao attempted to retrieve her gun with a rope, but it was severed by enemy fire. Leng Bing, closer to the weapon, instructed Guo Xiaoxiao to create smoke cover so she could reach it. However, an enemy grenade exploded, injuring Guo Xiaoxiao's leg.

Leng Bing, severely wounded and bleeding profusely, bravely told Guo Xiaoxiao to stay put, as the enemy was still a threat. Risking her life, Leng Bing observed the enemy's position at "1 o'clock, 800 meters, with a wind speed of 6." With this crucial information, Guo Xiaoxiao successfully killed the enemy sniper. Just before succumbing to her injuries, Leng Bing urged Guo Xiaoxiao to "talk more" and "not keep everything inside."

After this heroic but tragic incident, Guo Xiaoxiao and Leng Bing were awarded for their bravery, with Leng Bing posthumously receiving a first-class merit and Guo Xiaoxiao a second-class merit. Guo Xiaoxiao, heartbroken, refused a new observer, applying to operate alone under the codename "Lone Wolf," believing it was safer for her. She later joined the Cheetah unit after being personally selected by Captain Leng Jing.

Guo Xiaoxiao admitted that while she was willing to fight, bleed, and even sacrifice for her teammates, she no longer wanted to make friends. Losing Batulu and Leng Bing, who was Leng Jing's cousin, had caused her pain worse than death. Leng Jing confirmed that Leng Bing, who frequently praised Guo Xiaoxiao's genius over the phone, was the one who recommended her.

Qin Feng then explained that this was precisely why he had locked them up together: to force them to open up, understand, and trust each other, as emotions are inherent to humans, and he aimed to "squeeze out their feelings" over these ten days. The others encouraged Guo Xiaoxiao to move forward, to live not just for herself but also to carry Leng Bing's spirit with her.

Following this, Cao Ben began to share his own story, mentioning that he and Bai Long had a mutual leader named Xiang Fei. Hearing that name, Bai Long immediately became agitated and told Cao Ben to be quiet. Cao Ben then explained that Xiang Fei had sacrificed his life to save him, feeling he was unworthy to speak further about him, and suggested the others ask Bai Long instead.
