Side Story of Fox Volant Episode 11 Recap
> Side Story of Fox Volant Recap
Shaolin Weituo Sect has held considerable prestige in the martial world since its founding by Master Wuxiang. However, the current disciples are deemed unworthy of leadership. Amidst their vying for the sect leader position, Yuan Ziyi arrives after a long journey carrying the unconscious Hu Fei.
Observing the chaos and needing the sect's Epiphyllum Dew Cream for Hu Fei, she declares herself a direct disciple of the late Sect Leader Wan, claiming to have been taken in during his decade of wandering, which would make her a senior to the current disciples. The disciples question her claim, so Yuan Ziyi demonstrates her mastery of Weituo Sect's martial arts. She uses the "Phoenix Vortex" to deftly counter Sun Fuhu's "Guan Ping's Offering," defeating him in three moves.
Martial Uncle Liu Hezhen notes that while her techniques are of the sect, her inner cultivation is different, suggesting she isn't a true disciple. The second disciple, attempting to exploit Yuan Ziyi's gender, challenges her with "Chikao Fists," a close-combat technique. Yuan Ziyi swiftly defeats him with a powerful palm strike.
Seeing a disciple carrying the unconscious Hu Fei, Liu Hezhen understands Yuan Ziyi's true purpose and challenges her to a contest using the sect's ultimate technique, "Tiangang Plum Blossom Stakes." Thirty-six wine bowls are arranged on the ground, with the rule that touching the ground or breaking a bowl means defeat. Though unfamiliar with the technique, Yuan Ziyi relies on her superior lightness skill to stay in the fight.
As Liu Hezhen increases the intensity, she reveals the Epiphyllum token, a keepsake from Master Wan. Seeing this, Liu Hezhen falters, breaks a bowl, and concedes the match, acknowledging her connection to Master Wan. The other disciples protest, accusing Yuan Ziyi of tricking them to get the sect's treasure, the Epiphyllum Dew Cream, for Hu Fei.
Liu Hezhen silences them, revealing that Master Wan had told him about a gifted female disciple he accepted at Tianshan and entrusted with the Epiphyllum token. He declares Yuan Ziyi the true inheritor. Official He and Shang Baozhen then arrive with a Hero Invitation to the World's Sect Leaders Gathering. Yuan Ziyi dismisses the invitation, stating that Weituo Sect remains separate from official affairs.
She accuses them of trying to exchange the invitation for the Epiphyllum Dew Cream, having already taken other sect treasures like the Agarwood Bead and the King Kong's Pestle, and reclaims the Agarwood Bead from them. Meanwhile, Fu Kangan reports to Emperor Qianlong on the Gathering. He explains that while many smaller sects have accepted, major ones like Shaolin, Wudang, Kongtong, and Qingcheng have not, some citing past associations with the Red Flower Club.
The Emperor clarifies the gathering's true purpose: to co-opt these martial artists and install loyal figures as sect leaders, thereby controlling potentially destabilizing regional forces, drawing a parallel to Emperor Wu of Han's historical migration order. Liu Hezhen examines Hu Fei, confirming that he would have died without her timely arrival. Yuan Ziyi apologizes for her deception, reiterating that her sole purpose was to obtain the Epiphyllum Dew Cream for Hu Fei.
However, Liu Hezhen insists she remain the leader, as his other disciples are unworthy. He persuades her to lead the sect temporarily, as a favor to Master Wan, until the third disciple, Yang Bin, who has good character but insufficient skills, is ready to take over. Yuan Ziyi accepts. Elsewhere, Tian Guinong worries about Nan Lan, with whom he has been having an affair.
He regrets the false rumor of Miao Renfeng's death, spread by his subordinate to aid their relationship, and asserts that a refined lady like Nan Lan, once in love, won't easily change her mind. When Miao Renfeng returns from his travels, Nan Lan tries to persuade him to abandon his eighteen-year-long quest for vengeance, but he refuses. Shortly after, while Miao is out, their daughter, Lan, develops a high fever.
Tian Guinong arrives to provide comfort and care, moving Nan Lan deeply. After Lan recovers, a conflicted Nan Lan asks Tian Guinong to leave forever. However, her daughter then unexpectedly calls Tian Guinong "Daddy" in front of the just-returned Miao Renfeng. Deciding her marriage is over, Nan Lan leaves a farewell letter and flees with Tian Guinong. Miao Renfeng catches up to their entourage. Nan Lan alights from the carriage, looking at her husband with cold detachment. Tian Guinong then steps forward, declaring that to die at the hands of the world's greatest master would be a glorious end.
