Unable to find Jiang Hu, Xu Si returned to the Teng Yue factory. Master Zhang informed him that Jiang Hu had been gone all night and that Pei Zhiyuan, Yue Shan, and Yang Jian were out searching for her. He had heard she was at a pet hospital the previous night after its owner passed away, but she left before anyone arrived.
Master Zhang pleaded with Xu Si not to pressure her further, highlighting the immense responsibility she carries at such a young age, to which Xu Si apologized. Meanwhile, Jiang Hu isolated herself at a guesthouse. After repeated calls from Yang Jian, she finally answered, assuring him she was fine and asking him to tell the others to stop looking, as she needed time alone.
Yang Jian respected her wish but insisted on knowing her location for her safety, promising to keep it secret. Jiang Hu agreed and sent him her location, feeling as though she had returned to the dark period following her father's death. Aware that Yang Jian and Zhaoyang had argued, Zhou Suqing tried to mediate by having them eat breakfast together. Zhaoyang remained distant, interested only in her art.
Yang Jian admitted to his mother-in-law that he and Zhaoyang were not on the same wavelength but promised to be the bigger person and accommodate her. After a meeting, Du Botao offered to help Xu Si move forward with Aneda's acquisition of Teng Yue, noting that public perception of a conflict between the founder and investor was damaging the project.
Xu Si replied that he needed time to resolve Teng Yue's internal issues and would report back to Du Botao’s father when ready. Unwilling to let the project fail, Du Botao decided to contact Jiang Hu himself, reasoning that while she was avoiding Xu Si, she would likely still be in contact with others. Zhaoyang learned during a visit to her store that Gao Yi's wife, Hai Lan, had passed away that day.
She went to the hospital and saw Gao Yi packing his wife's belongings but chose not to disturb him. Jiang Hu received messages from Pei Zhiyuan and Yue Shan. Pei Zhiyuan explained that the Aneda acquisition was meant to be a surprise from Xu Si. Yue Shan apologized for her part in the secret and shared a significant discovery: Jiang Qisheng had been making regular payments to a nursing home, which might hold the answers Jiang Hu was seeking.
Following the lead, Jiang Hu went to the nursing home and found Gao Yi's father. Though his mind was frail, he clearly recalled how Jiang Hu's father had knelt and begged him to take the fall for a crime, promising to support his family. However, he also remembered hearing that Jiang Hu's father had been the one to report him to the authorities first. Gao Yi arrived and spoke with Jiang Hu.
She confessed that she had always wrongly believed he was the one who leaked Shen Gui’s disappearance to the media. Gao Yi denied it, explaining he had only intended to use the Peace Loan to teach Free Unicorn a lesson and that things had spiraled out of his control. He had tried to find Shen Gui, but the news broke before he could.
Apologizing for the trouble he caused her, Gao Yi reflected that everyone pays for their mistakes, and he was still paying for his father’s. He urged Jiang Hu not to carry the burden of others' faults or give up on Teng Yue, and informed her that Hai Lan’s funeral was on Sunday. Xu Si went to Changle Restaurant to find Yang Jian. An acquaintance there urged them to have a good talk, and the two sat down together.
Later, Yang Jian visited Jiang Hu, bringing her food and telling her she couldn't keep hiding. To inspire her, he shared the story of Ye Guoming, the owner of Cloud Footwear, who had rejected Aneda's acquisition attempts 28 times, encouraging her to find her own strength. Motivated, Jiang Hu visited Ye Guoming at the Cloud Footwear factory. He was dismissive, stating there could never be cooperation between their companies because of her father.
When Jiang Hu pressed for the real reason, Ye Guoming revealed that thirty years ago, her father had worked at Cloud Footwear as a salesman. Standing in the exact spot where Jiang Hu now stood, he had listened as Ye Guoming detailed the proprietary formula for their anti-slip rubber sole. Jiang Hu was stunned to learn of her father's past with the company.
