Yang Jian is intimately familiar with Zhaoyang's preferences, such as her dislike for too much salt or soy sauce, her habit of eating only the wrappers of steamed buns, and her love for hot milk. However, he is surprised to learn that she dislikes wontons. Zhaoyang explains this aversion stems from her childhood: when she was six, her mother's second husband, a wonton seller, forced her to wash dishes in his shop.

After her mother incurred a large debt from stock trading, the man divorced her and evicted them, leaving Zhaoyang and her mother to live in a rundown hostel for months. Later, her mother met Yang Jian's father, who owned a boxed-meal restaurant. She shared her wonton recipe with him, and they married. Zhaoyang admits Yang Jian's father's wontons were delicious, but the painful memories associated with them have made her genuinely dislike eating them now.

Meanwhile, Xu Si is troubled, confiding in a friend that he has not yet told Jiang Hu about Aneda's plan to acquire Teng Yue. He knows how invaluable Teng Yue is to her and worries she will refuse to sell. His friend advises him to communicate with her, but also notes that Baoxing holds the controlling stake, giving Xu Si the final say. Xu Si, however, fears underestimating Jiang Hu's attachment to the company.

Separately, Yang Jian discusses his unconventional marriage with his friend, Lao Jiu, who notes they married without a ceremony and still sleep in separate rooms. Lao Jiu suggests that Yang Jian should reveal the truth—that it was he, not Gao Yi, who saved Zhaoyang when she nearly drowned. He believes this would win her affection. Yang Jian, however, is content with their current progress, as Zhaoyang is beginning to open up to him.

Jiang Hu takes her large dog, Boss, to the veterinarian. The vet notes Boss's poor appetite, reduced water intake, and a serious wart, informing Jiang Hu that at thirteen, Boss is considered extremely old for his breed and she should be mentally prepared. Later, Jiang Hu speaks to Boss, regretting not spending more time with him. She recalls her father adopting him from a circus when she was in high school.

Boss was only loyal to her father and hostile towards her, so he was kept at Teng Yue. She expresses sorrow that his past aggression prevented them from spending more years together. At Gao Yi and Hai Lan's wedding, Hai Lan appears with a shaved head, wearing a wig and veil. Jiang Hu and Zhaoyang both arrive at the venue.

Jiang Hu, who wasn't invited, watches from a distance, remarking that she came to say goodbye to the past and finds it amusing that she and Gao Yi were once jealous of each other. Zhaoyang philosophizes that they must accept change and move on. Jiang Hu agrees, adding that their youth is over and they should cherish the good people in their lives, mentioning that both Yang Jian and Xu Si are good men.

As the newlyweds appear, Zhaoyang goes to offer her congratulations, wishing them a happy marriage, while Jiang Hu leaves. Xu Si surprises Jiang Hu on a weekday, insisting that her time belongs to him beyond just the weekends. He takes her to a restaurant across from his family's old cup factory, a place filled with childhood memories of his father buying him milk tea. For his upcoming birthday, Xu Si requests a unique gift: a home-cooked meal from Jiang Hu.

She agrees, challenging him to eat whatever she makes. Jiang Hu's attempt at cooking is a disaster. Her plans are further complicated when Mo Fei, a young boy, arrives for an overnight stay, as his parents are on a business trip and Xu Si had apparently agreed. To save the meal, Jiang Hu calls Yang Jian, who arrives with fresh ingredients and quickly prepares several delicious dishes.

During dinner, Xu Si, recognizing Jiang Hu's intent to mediate, acknowledges Yang Jian's close bond with her and suggests they should be friends. Later, Xu Si playfully teases Jiang Hu for using their date to mend his relationship with Yang Jian but reminds her that she still owes him a proper home-cooked meal as his gift. Xu Si continues to pursue Jiang Hu, showing up again to cook for her. He playfully presents a dish he has been practicing.

They banter while eating, and Jiang Hu teases him about his handyman skills after discovering he fixed her speaker, which he confirms. Their evening grows affectionate as they cuddle on the sofa, watching a movie and kissing. Xu Si mentions Teng Yue's upcoming team-building event and says he will miss her, asking her to grow her hair long like a doll's, a suggestion she laughingly dismisses.

Jiang Hu secretly commissions a custom gift for Xu Si, asking a craftsman, Master Zhang, to source old-style waterproof fabric for a pair of shoes that she intends to personally embroider. Elsewhere, Xu Si discusses his relationship with his mother, who is surprised by his seriousness. The conversation shifts to Teng Yue, and Xu Si admits that Aneda plans to acquire it.

His mother astutely guesses he hasn't told Jiang Hu, sympathizing with the deep emotional connection an entrepreneur has to their creation, comparing it to a mother raising a child. She questions if the acquisition is truly necessary and challenges Xu Si on whether he can separate business from personal feelings, and if he can expect Jiang Hu to do the same.

Xu Si insists his actions are for Jiang Hu's benefit, but his mother wisely counters that his good intentions might not be what Jiang Hu wants and could deeply hurt her.
