Prodigy Healer Episode 13 Recap
> Prodigy Healer Recap
After Mu Xingchen and Qiao Zhen Tian were spotted by Dashan, Mu Xingchen quickly pulled Qiao Zhen Tian away. Mu Xingchen declared his intention to continue investigating Fujiwara. Qiao Zhen Tian noted that Fujiwara had already rallied many people in Yunhai City, making him worry that the city would fall under Japanese rule again.
Mu Xingchen assured Qiao Zhen Tian that he would not compete for credit, stating that all the glory would be Qiao Zhen Tian's if he could expose Fujiwara and the Ying Liu Society to the public. Mu Xingchen emphasized that the immediate priority was to swiftly uncover a crucial list. Later, Qiao Zhen Tian consulted his father, Chief Qiao, about the Ying Liu Society.
Chief Qiao explained that the Ying Liu Society was the largest foreign organization active in Yunhai City twenty years ago. They committed numerous atrocities, aiming to deplete the economy and destabilize the government, behaving like wolves determined to consume all their prey. Chief Qiao recounted how Shangguan Qing, Qiao Zheng Kun, and Ye Qiushi had joined forces to dismantle the society, with Fujiwara being the only survivor.
Chief Qiao suspected that Fujiwara was behind the fire in the quarantine area and the person who shot Qiao Zhen Tian. He warned his son against rushing to confront Fujiwara, explaining that the group had previously tried to ensnare Qiao Zhen Tian by involving him in the special drug business, with the ultimate goal of eliminating the Qiao family.
Chief Qiao stressed the importance of finding the right opportunity to eliminate Fujiwara, ensuring everything unfolded naturally yet unexpectedly, just as they had done in the past. He also expressed regret for his past negligence in allowing Fujiwara to escape. Qiao Zhen Tian kept his scheduled appointment with Fujiwara. Fujiwara proposed a renewed partnership to amass wealth and regain control of Yunhai City's business sector. He suggested they work together to eliminate Mu Xingchen and Ye Yunshang.
Fujiwara claimed his subordinates had developed an infectious disease similar to wasp venom, and by releasing it and then offering a cure, they could both profit immensely. Qiao Zhen Tian refused to play along, directly accusing Fujiwara of being the one who tried to kill him in the quarantine area. He pressed Fujiwara to confess the truth about the Ying Liu Society, warning him of severe consequences otherwise.
Qiao Zhen Tian listed Fujiwara's arrested associates – Zhang Huaiyuan, Wu Jingze, Shi Siwen, Du Changrong – noting they were all members of the Ying Liu Society and had already implicated him. As Fujiwara feigned ignorance, he suddenly gasped and collapsed, unconscious. The woman serving tea, Song Ziqing, a journalist who had secretly joined the Ying Liu Society, immediately cried out about an assassin to create a diversion. Qiao Zhen Tian pursued the supposed attacker but found no one.
Mu Xingchen arrived at the scene. After examining Fujiwara's body, he detected a bitter almond scent, identifying it as cyanide, a poison known for its lethality even in small doses. Mu Xingchen observed a single wound on Fujiwara's body, concluding he was poisoned to death by a cyanide-laced needle. He surmised that Song Ziqing was the only person with the opportunity to administer the poison, likely killing Fujiwara to prevent him from revealing the Ying Liu Society's secrets.
Qiao Zhen Tian, enraged that someone dared to commit murder in his presence, moved to apprehend Song Ziqing. However, Mu Xingchen intervened, arguing that Song Ziqing was merely a pawn. He advocated for a long-term strategy to uncover the true mastermind behind her. Mu Xingchen explained that with Fujiwara dead, the morale of the Japanese forces would be low, and Song Ziqing, likely lacking significant authority, would lead them to a more influential figure.
Qiao Zhen Tian reluctantly agreed to Mu Xingchen's plan, but only if Mu Xingchen promised to compete fairly for Ye Yunshang's affections before their mission against the Japanese was complete. Mu Xingchen was both amused and impressed by Qiao Zhen Tian's declaration. Meanwhile, Ye Yunshang, who had been anxiously searching for Mu Xingchen, was relieved when he returned. He learned from a frantic Meijiao that his hometown, the Shenmu tribe, was in peril.
Meijiao explained that poisonous wasps had appeared, causing trees to wither and even the holy tree to decline. Mu Xingchen, recognizing the severity of the situation, decided to return immediately. As he and Ye Yunshang were preparing to leave with detoxification pills, Shangguan Wenxuan confronted them. He demanded to know the secret between Mu Xingchen and Shangguan Qing, revealing he had discovered his father, Shangguan Qing, harbored hidden identities.
Mu Xingchen, acknowledging Shangguan Wenxuan’s right to know due to his Shenmu tribal bloodline, decided to bring him along, hoping he might assist in stopping Mu Nanyue. He asked Shangguan Wenxuan to allow his eyes to be covered during their journey into the mountains. Upon arriving at the Shenmu tribe, Shangguan Wenxuan was awestruck by the mystical surroundings. Mu Xingchen quickly distributed the detoxification medicine to the tribe members suffering from wasp venom.
He then reported to his father, the tribal chief, about Shangguan Qing (Mu Nanyue)'s plan to attack the tribe and seize the holy fruit. A tribe member demanded Shangguan Wenxuan's execution per tribal law, but the chief, stating that a parent's sins should not be visited upon their child, spared him. He believed killing Shangguan Wenxuan would only further antagonize Mu Nanyue. The chief commanded Yue Kun to lead the soldiers in protecting the holy tree and prepare for battle.
Yueying, who had been tricked by Shi Hu into believing he was Mu Xingchen, confronted Shi Hu after seeing Mu Xingchen return with Ye Yunshang. She realized Shi Hu's deception and accused him and Mu Xingchen of humiliating her. Shi Hu confessed his wrongdoing and revealed that Mu Xingchen had left to save the sacred tree, pleading with Yueying to keep this a secret.
Despite Shi Hu's attempt to express his genuine feelings for her, Yueying, feeling betrayed, ran off in anger. Separately, Shangguan Qing (Mu Nanyue), President Ye, and Chief Qiao gathered, each bringing their own forces, including President Ye's soldiers. Upon meeting, President Ye questioned Shangguan Qing, noting that the invitation letter had not mentioned that Chief Qiao (Qiao Zheng Kun) would also be involved.
As they neared the Misty Forest, President Ye expressed his reluctance to proceed, citing the forest's dangerous reputation and his unwillingness to risk his men for the legendary holy fruit. Shangguan Qing, however, insisted they continue, revealing that he had a strange illness and was willing to do anything to cure it, implicitly coercing President Ye to comply.
