Han Xue observes her male colleagues, speculating who among them might be the wealthy heir, eventually focusing on Lin Husheng due to his attire, a secret she keeps to herself. Vivian suggests holding a welcome party for the newly arrived Vice Editor-in-Chief, Bai Haoyu. Zhu Ying seconds the idea, but Bai Haoyu coldly refuses, prioritizing work. Despite Vivian's attempts to persuade him, he remains unyielding, much to the disappointment of the staff. Colleagues grumble about Bai Haoyu's unfeeling nature.
Li Huizhen, unaware he is standing right behind her, complains about him being cold, unapproachable, and childish. She quickly falls silent and becomes nervous upon realizing his presence. Meanwhile, Bai Haoyu encounters Xia Qiao working at a hotel. Xia Qiao is startled and immediately removes her work badge before greeting him. She fabricates a story about recently returning from Denmark and coincidentally working there.
When Bai Haoyu appears unconvinced, she admits to lying, explaining that she did so because she doesn't trust his sincerity or to maintain her status after previously sending him photos from Copenhagen. Bai Haoyu expresses disappointment but affirms his genuine desire to be with "Li Huizhen," whom he believes Xia Qiao to be.
He recalls "Li Huizhen's" support during his mother's passing, emphasizing her importance and assuring her that he would not look down on her for being a hotel attendant. He expresses a wish to meet with "Li Huizhen" (Xia Qiao) often. Xia Qiao later calls Li Huizhen to complain, but Lin Yimu answers the phone. Xia Qiao speaks at length before realizing it's not Li Huizhen and promptly hangs up.
Back home, Li Huizhen eats to soothe her frustration, ignoring Xia Qiao. Once satiated, she bitterly complains about Bai Haoyu, calling him a pervert. Xia Qiao listens, holding back her own encounter with Bai Haoyu at the hotel. Li Huizhen decides she must not let Bai Haoyu underestimate her and vows to impress him. The next day, Li Huizhen feels dejected before work. Lin Yimu appears and offers her a "lucky candy" to cheer her up.
At the office, Han Xue distributes coffee to the male colleagues, but Lin Yimu gives his coffee directly to Li Huizhen. During a meeting, Bai Haoyu maintains a serious demeanor, but Zhu Ying's proposal catches his interest. Li Huizhen is asked to open the presentation, but she struggles to understand the professional terms and concepts. Lin Yimu finds her bewildered state amusing, noting her "Vice Editor-in-Chief phobia."
Li Huizhen attempts to ask her busy colleagues for clarification on the meeting notes but finds no one available to help. She prepares a simplified version of the meeting report, which Bai Haoyu finds unsatisfactory, criticizing her lack of initiative. Li Huizhen is disheartened, feeling like an outsider despite her hard work and constant effort to assist her colleagues, and laments being frequently scolded by Bai Haoyu.
Li Huizhen shares her frustrations with Xia Qiao, who initially criticizes her for not trying hard enough and for focusing too much on Bai Haoyu instead of the magazine. Xia Qiao then provides Li Huizhen with numerous magazines and materials to enhance her professional knowledge and fashion sense. Recognizing the validity of Xia Qiao's advice and wanting to prove herself, Li Huizhen dedicates herself to studying the materials overnight, gradually developing a better understanding of fashion. Zhu Ying also encourages Li Huizhen not to give up, assuring her that persistence will lead to success.
