Ordinary Greatness Episode 21 Recap
> Ordinary Greatness Recap
Cao Jianjun and Yang Shu were eating noodles at a restaurant across from Lanting Pavilion, a high-end club, with Cao Jianjun keeping a close watch on everyone entering and exiting the establishment. Yang Shu sensed a mission was underway. Suddenly, Bai Xiaoyu, a target, entered the same noodle shop.
Cao Jianjun approached him, revealing his extensive knowledge of Bai Xiaoyu's background: he had joined the club after college, engaging in unspeakable work, torn between resigning due to the nature of the job and staying for the high salary to support his single mother. Bai Xiaoyu admitted his predicament, stating he initially joined hoping to network with successful entrepreneurs, but was instead instructed by Ms. Zhong, the club owner, to entertain wealthy but emotionally empty women.
Cao Jianjun proposed they collaborate to dismantle this criminal organization. However, Bai Xiaoyu was terrified of Ms. Zhong, fearing severe repercussions. He impulsively declared his intention to quit. Cao Jianjun relented, asking Bai Xiaoyu instead to introduce an undercover agent into the club, but not to resign until the introduction was made. After careful consideration, Cao Jianjun decided to send Yang Shu in as the undercover agent.
Both Wang Shouyi and Cheng Hao strongly objected, arguing that Yang Shu's inherently righteous demeanor made him unsuitable for such a role. Despite their concerns, Cao Jianjun was resolute, believing that if successful, it would be a major case. Wang Shouyi reluctantly agreed to let Yang Shu try. Yang Shu was then seen researching "how to attract rich women" online, much to Cao Jianjun's amusement.
Yang Shu, frustrated, complained about being sent into a "tiger's den," but Cao Jianjun assured him he could handle it. Cao Jianjun instructed Yang Shu to pose as Bai Xiaoyu's cousin. When Bai Xiaoyu met Yang Shu, he was impressed by Yang Shu's tall and handsome appearance, confidently predicting Ms. Zhong would be pleased. Bai Xiaoyu even nicknamed him "Wei."
Yang Shu, however, insisted on being called by his real name and maintaining a professional demeanor, reminding Bai Xiaoyu that he was a police officer. Bai Xiaoyu then introduced Yang Shu as "Wei," his cousin seeking employment after college, to Ms. Zhong at Lanting Pavilion. Ms. Zhong was indeed very satisfied with Yang Shu's looks and physique, readily accepting him and telling Bai Xiaoyu he could resign.
Bai Xiaoyu offered to stay a few days to mentor Yang Shu, but Ms. Zhong, clearly smitten with Yang Shu, eagerly dismissed Bai Xiaoyu, wanting Yang Shu for herself. Yang Shu, equipped with a body camera, changed into a handsome suit. Ms. Zhong made overt advances, attempting to seduce him and teaching him techniques to please guests. Yang Shu, overwhelmed and disgusted, resisted fiercely and fled the club.
Back at his shared apartment, Yang Shu was violently ill in the bathroom, reliving the repulsive experience. Li Dawei and Zhao Jiwei, after some initial teasing, listened as Yang Shu recounted how he narrowly escaped Ms. Zhong's aggressive advances, managing to push her away and anger her into retreating. The next morning, Cao Jianjun reported Yang Shu's failed mission to Wang Shouyi, showing him the video from Yang Shu's body camera.
Wang Shouyi found it amusing but deemed the evidence insufficient for an arrest. Wang Shouyi then suggested sending Li Dawei as the new undercover agent. Chen Xincheng initially opposed, worried about Li Dawei's impulsive nature. However, Wang Shouyi had faith in Li Dawei's abilities. Li Dawei, eager for the assignment, confidently assured Wang Shouyi he could gather all necessary information within five days. Cao Jianjun summoned Bai Xiaoyu, instructing him to introduce Li Dawei as his "second oldest cousin."
Li Dawei introduced himself as "Yang Shu" and asked to be called "Da Shu." Bai Xiaoyu attempted to resign again, but Li Dawei insisted he stay and assist with the introduction. Bai Xiaoyu reluctantly took Li Dawei to meet Ms. Zhong. Ms. Zhong noted that while Li Dawei wasn't as handsome as "the other cousin" (Yang Shu), he seemed more cunning.
Li Dawei introduced himself as "Da Shu," claiming he hadn't attended college like his brother but had played various instruments in a bar band. Ms. Zhong accepted him, allowing Bai Xiaoyu to resign immediately but warning him not to disclose any information about the club. Li Dawei quickly started his undercover work, massaging Ms. Zhong, playfully calling her "Mama Zhong" much to her annoyance.
Ms. Zhong then briefed him on how to serve the club's billionaire clients, emphasizing the potential for high earnings if he could keep them happy. Over the next few days, Li Dawei seamlessly blended in with the club's patrons and staff, diligently collecting crucial evidence, including a comprehensive list of members, staff, and their prices. He also uncovered that Ms. Zhong had a high-ranking "protective umbrella."
Upon reporting back to Wang Shouyi, Li Dawei revealed the name of the official involved, which Wang Shouyi said he would escalate to his superiors. Cao Jianjun recognized a photo of his brother-in-law, Sun Youguang, on the client list. He privately asked Li Dawei to keep an eye on him, which Li Dawei agreed to do, soon establishing Sun Youguang's regular visits on Monday and Wednesday nights, and sometimes Sundays.
On a Friday, Wang Shouyi called an emergency meeting, instructing everyone to hand over their phones. He announced that the undercover operation had yielded significant results, confirming Lanting Pavilion was a high-end prostitution ring masquerading as an entrepreneurs' club. The bureau had approved a full-scale raid, codenamed "No. 1 Cleaning Campaign," scheduled for 8 PM that night. He also stated that the official protecting the club would be investigated by the Commission for Discipline Inspection.
Wang Shouyi outlined the detailed deployment plans, assigning Cao Jianjun, Gao Chao, Chen Xincheng, and Cheng Hao to lead separate teams. Cao Jianjun expressed concern, knowing his brother-in-law was a client. At 7 PM, the police units mobilized.
