Oh! My Emperor Season 1 Episode 12 Recap
> Oh! My Emperor Season 1 Recap
Emperor Beitang Yi was drenched when Luo Feifei accidentally splashed a bucket of water on him. He angrily confronted her, but Luo Feifei repeatedly insisted it was an accident, claiming she would have used "shit" if she had meant to do it. As they continued their playful argument, with Luo Feifei even playfully calling him "Beitang Dragon Egg" and "Egg," an assassin suddenly appeared behind Beitang Yi, aiming a bow and arrow.
Luo Feifei quickly shouted a warning, but Beitang Yi was struck in the arm by an arrow. He immediately pulled Luo Feifei into a nearby building for cover as more arrows rained down. Luo Feifei's desperate cries for help finally alerted the palace guards. The assassin, a maid, was quickly apprehended by Fang Jian, who identified her as an Ophiuchus remnant.
Inside, Beitang Yi asked Luo Feifei to dress his wound, even requesting her to remove his top for proper treatment, which she noted was surprisingly well-built. Seizing the opportunity, Luo Feifei asked Beitang Yi to release the maid. Beitang Yi initially refused, stating the maid deserved death for attempting to kill him. Luo Feifei argued that her saving his life was a good enough reason, effectively bartering "your life for hers."
After some playful banter where Beitang Yi accused her of learning too much about business from Su Xunxian, he agreed to spare the maid, on the condition that she be punished with twenty spanks before being sent out of the palace. Meanwhile, Prince Chen appeared dispirited in his palace.
Su Xunxian tried various ways to cheer him up, offering chess, then a special wine from Five Immortals State said to banish worries, and finally suggesting the Guqin, but Prince Chen refused everything. Su Xunxian noted that he had never seen Prince Chen so troubled and surmised it was due to Luo Feifei entering the imperial palace, teasing him about being deeply in love.
Su Xunxian offered to find other ladies who were "bright and neurotic" like Luo Feifei, or even belles from the Honglou Brothels, to solve Prince Chen's problem. Prince Chen, however, merely told Su Xunxian to "go play with his birds" if he was free, prompting Su Xunxian to declare his preference for chasing problems to "kill all the happy hours." Elsewhere, Xie Yanran's maid, Xiaohe, urged her to visit the injured Emperor.
Xie Yanran was initially unconcerned, stating royal physicians were already tending to him. However, Xiaohe revealed that the new dancing girls were gaining favor with the Emperor, who was previously "as cold as ice and frost" but was now getting closer to women. This news finally piqued Xie Yanran's interest, though she first playfully threatened Xiaohe for gossiping before agreeing to prepare. Soon after, Luo Feifei encountered Xie Yanran.
Recognizing her as the woman who had previously peeped at Prince Chen, Luo Feifei confronted her, with Xiaohe attempting to defend her lady's honor. Luo Feifei quickly accused Xie Yanran of peeping at Prince Chen showering, revealing she knew Xie Yanran's secret. Xie Yanran, who identified herself as being from the esteemed Family Xie, even offered Luo Feifei money to keep silent.
Luo Feifei, realizing Xie Yanran's affections were for Prince Chen and acknowledging her predicament regarding the arranged marriage to the Emperor, assured Xie Yanran that she herself had no interest in the Emperor either. Xie Yanran confessed her true feelings for Prince Chen and lamented that Grandma-Empress had arranged her marriage to the Emperor, leaving her no choice in her own destiny, a common plight for women in that era.
Luo Feifei empathized, then encouraged Xie Yanran to break free from feudal ideas and actively pursue her own happiness, even offering her help. Xie Yanran, touched by Luo Feifei's modern perspective, promised to help Luo Feifei pursue the Emperor in return, despite Luo Feifei's protestations that she found the Emperor a "nerd" and didn't like him.
Xie Yanran, however, countered that only a fool couldn't see Luo Feifei's feelings, also explaining that the Emperor had previously been reclusive, even expelling a Reminder Maid, and that Grandma-Empress was concerned about him. Luo Feifei then questioned Xie Yanran about her mysterious disappearance that day, asking if she possessed a superpower. Xie Yanran confirmed it was "Flying Star," her extraordinary ability. Xie Yanran explained that not everyone in the Zodiac State possessed abilities, and each person's power was unique.
When Luo Feifei asked if it was like "Double Shadow," Xie Yanran clarified that ability belonged solely to Prince Tang. She then listed other unique powers: Beitang Yi could fossilize people, Prince Chen could foresee the future, Lord Fang could rebound force, and General Chu could defeat opponents with his voice. Luo Feifei was fascinated, wondering if this meant no other country would dare fight them.
Xie Yanran clarified that other states like Five Immortals State and Perseid State also had people with extraordinary abilities, though they couldn't be overused as it posed a danger to their lives. Curious, Luo Feifei asked Xie Yanran to teach her invisibility. Xie Yanran joked about her talent, mentioning she had once refused to join a "Sailor Moon" group but had joined "PILIPALA Fairies." Just as they finished their playful conversation, the Emperor approached, and Xie Yanran quickly excused herself, leaving Luo Feifei alone to face Beitang Yi.
