Octogenarian, and The 90S Episode 3 Recap
> Octogenarian, and The 90S Recap
Ye Xiaomei woke up one morning to find the missing piece of her comic draft neatly pasted back, correctly guessing her grandmother Lin Sufen was responsible. She immediately went to the nursing home, where she learned that Guo Sanshuang had brought his grandfather, Guo Jiangdong, to stay. Grandpa Hou, upon seeing Ye Xiaomei, lamented that Guo Jiangdong's arrival had quickly captured the attention of the elderly women, overshadowing him. Ye Xiaomei offered words of comfort to him.
Guo Sanshuang, after inspecting the accommodation and dining facilities, was pleased with the nursing home and encouraged his grandfather to settle in comfortably. Suddenly, Grandma Gui rushed over and embraced Guo Sanshuang, repeatedly calling him "Doggie" and mistaking him for her grandson. Guo Sanshuang was startled and tried to get away, but Grandma Gui held him tightly, leaving him unable to move. Lin Sufen arrived to mediate.
Guo Jiangdong was instantly smitten with Lin Sufen and promptly decided to stay at the nursing home, much to Guo Sanshuang's dismay. After Lin Sufen's calming words, Grandma Gui finally released Guo Sanshuang, who quickly escaped. Once Grandma Gui realized what happened, she began crying and looking for "Doggie." Ye Xiaomei witnessed the scene and went to find Guo Sanshuang for help, only to discover he had already vanished.
As Guo Sanshuang reached home, creditors arrived to collect payment, making him too scared to speak. Ye Xiaomei, using the address his grandfather provided on the registration form, came looking for Guo Sanshuang, mistakenly thinking he wasn't home. Later that night, Guo Sanshuang, hearing the creditors snoring outside, quietly escaped through a window, accidentally twisting his ankle. Ye Xiaomei caught him in the act and asked him to pretend to be Grandma Gui's grandson, offering him a sum of money.
Guo Sanshuang, citing financial pressure to keep his grandfather in the home, readily agreed. Wu Hui explained Grandma Gui's background to Guo Sanshuang: her grandson had died in an accidental fall at age five, leading to depression and later Alzheimer's disease. This caused her to mistake Guo Sanshuang for her grown-up grandson, "Doggie." Wu Hui then took Guo Sanshuang to meet Grandma Gui, who was overcome with emotion, crying and hugging him.
Grandma Gui produced a childhood photo, insisting it was a young Guo Sanshuang. She enthusiastically tried to set up Ye Xiaomei and Guo Sanshuang, forcefully placing an ancestral jade bracelet onto Ye Xiaomei's wrist. Ye Xiaomei reluctantly played along with Guo Sanshuang. Guo Sanshuang carefully removed the bracelet, promising Grandma Gui he would give it to Ye Xiaomei on their wedding day, which pacified Grandma Gui.
She then repeatedly urged Guo Sanshuang to convey her apologies to his parents for a past mistake. After spending the night comforting Grandma Gui, Guo Sanshuang left at dawn. Lin Sufen thanked him for his cooperation, and Ye Xiaomei walked him out, giving him the 200 yuan. He massaged his twisted ankle before heading to work. Back at the nursing home, Bu Gaoxing asked Ye Xiaomei to draw his portrait. Soon, other residents crowded around, also demanding portraits.
They resorted to feigning symptoms like dizziness to pressure her. Ye Xiaomei sought help from Uncle Zhang, the gatekeeper, who advised her to draw for the seniors in sequential order. The residents were very pleased with her work, showering her with praise, a scene that filled Lin Sufen with contentment. Lin Sufen decided to entrust the nursing home to Ye Xiaomei.
However, Ye Xiaomei expressed her frustration with her grandmother's recently domineering attitude, threatening to move out and insisting she wanted to pursue her own passions. Unable to reveal her serious medical condition, Lin Sufen could only implore Ye Xiaomei to at least try managing the home. Despite initial resistance, Ye Xiaomei eventually yielded to her grandmother's earnest pleas and reluctantly accepted. Later that night, Wu Hui conducted a thorough patrol of the nursing home.
Elsewhere, Grandpa Hou approached Shi Changsheng, suggesting they collaborate to counter Guo Jiangdong, admitting his jealousy over Lin Sufen. Shi Changsheng dismissed his worries, advising him to give up on pursuing Lin Sufen. Undeterred, Grandpa Hou called Lin Sufen late at night, making idle conversation. He mentioned downloading a Soviet-themed song for her, for which she expressed gratitude. He tried to express his deeper feelings but eventually changed the topic to everyday matters.
Lin Sufen, secretly enduring severe abdominal pain, struggled to maintain the conversation. Guo Jiangdong, still determined to woo Lin Sufen, instructed Guo Sanshuang to order a large bouquet of red roses. Observing Grandpa Hou practicing Soviet songs for Lin Sufen, Guo Jiangdong mischievously cut the power supply and enjoyed his disruption from a distance. Meanwhile, Ye Xiaomei officially began her new role at the nursing home. Lin Sufen assigned Wu Hui to guide her through the operational procedures.
Wu Hui meticulously explained the daily schedule, including night patrols and food hygiene protocols, but Ye Xiaomei was primarily engrossed in live-streaming the nursing home's daily life, prompting Wu Hui to caution her about respecting residents' privacy. During her familiarization, Ye Xiaomei attempted to cut a resident's hair, resulting in an unsatisfactory outcome, and later accidentally spilled soup on another resident.
Guo Sanshuang, still holding the roses, discussed with his grandfather Guo Jiangdong how Grandpa Hou's singing had made him too embarrassed to present them to Lin Sufen. Guo Jiangdong, feeling sweaty, wanted to shower. When Guo Sanshuang informed him the men's bathhouse was locked, he suggested Guo Jiangdong use the women's bathhouse, offering to stand guard.
Guo Jiangdong entered, only to be discovered by Lin Sufen, who was horrified and called him a "pervert," leaving him in an extremely embarrassing situation. Guo Jiangdong later encountered Ye Xiaomei, who denied seeing anything. Guo Sanshuang then found his grandfather distraught and recorded him with his phone. Finally, Wu Hui approached Guo Sanshuang and Ye Xiaomei, requesting they accompany Grandma Gui to the park, as she had been asking for them. They agreed and took her there.
