> Octogenarian, and The 90S Recap
Grandpa Hou heard that his idol Hu Meng was visiting the nursing home, and his heart blossomed with joy. He immediately went to Ye Xiaomei to inquire about the situation, eager to have Hu Meng move in. Ye Xiaomei still had lingering fears about the picky Hu Meng. Wu Hui promised to discuss it further. Hu Meng decided to go to "Sunshine House" nursing home.
She started packing her luggage early in the morning, but her son firmly disagreed, worried about being labeled unfilial. However, Hu Meng's mind was made up, and she urged him to get married and have a grandson soon. The mother and son had a fierce argument at the slightest disagreement. Hu Meng knew her son was still thinking about his ex-girlfriend who went abroad for further studies; her son had given his spot to his girlfriend, but she never returned.
Hu Meng hugged the puppy and called her son. Her son, in a fit of pique, told the puppy to carry on the family line, then locked himself in his room. Hu Meng knew the nursing home didn't allow pets, but she was worried that no one would take care of the puppy. Hu Meng arrived at the nursing home early in the morning with her documents to complete the procedures. Wu Hui offered to help her move her luggage.
Hu Meng disliked others touching her belongings, so Wu Hui had no choice but to take her to the room. Hu Meng was dissatisfied with the room's facilities and hygiene, so she asked Wu Hui to quickly find someone to clean it. Grandpa Hou rushed over after hearing the news to help. He claimed to be Hu Meng's opera fan and was utterly obedient and compliant with her every word. Hu Meng went out for a walk wearing sunglasses.
The old rascal and Old Li mocked her sarcastically. Hu Meng was so angry her teeth gnashed. Ye Xiaomei hurried over to smooth things over. Grandma Gui grabbed the old rascal and Old Li, making them apologize to Hu Meng, and they had no choice but to comply. Hu Meng secretly put the puppy in a box and brought it into the nursing home, tiptoeing it into her room. Grandpa Hou came to bring Hu Meng some fruit.
Hu Meng was startled and quickly hid the puppy, but Grandpa Hou still discovered it. Hu Meng begged him to keep it a secret. The puppy suddenly barked twice. Grandpa Hou deliberately coughed loudly to try and cover it up. Bu Gaoxing heard the dog barking, and he quickly came out to search but found nothing.
Ye Xiaomei invited Guo Sanshuang to work at the nursing home, promising to pay his "five insurances and one housing fund," but Guo Sanshuang was not interested. At night, Grandpa Hou stood guard in front, clearing the way, while Hu Meng followed behind, holding the puppy and letting it relieve itself in the yard. Bu Gaoxing heard the barking and came out.
Grandpa Hou and Hu Meng cooperated, using the excuse that they were practicing vocalization to try and fool him. Bu Gaoxing didn't believe them at all and reminded them to be careful not to be discovered by Ye Xiaomei. Grandpa Hou worried that the matter of keeping the puppy would eventually be exposed, but Hu Meng didn't want to be separated from the puppy.
She offered to teach Grandpa Hou opera, as long as he continued to help her conceal the matter. Grandpa Hou was naturally delighted. From that day on, Grandpa Hou covered for Hu Meng every day. The two of them would take the puppy to the park for a stroll. Hu Meng taught him how to sing opera, but Grandpa Hou was always off-key and never quite got the knack of it.
Ye Xiaomei was out strolling with her best friend when she learned that community leaders were conducting a surprise inspection at the nursing home. Without a word, she hailed a taxi and rushed back. The leaders thoroughly understood Ye Xiaomei's service philosophy for the nursing home and were very satisfied with her work. Suddenly, a leader stepped in dog poop, leaving them speechless with anger. Ye Xiaomei quickly called the cleaning staff to understand the situation.
Wu Hui checked the surveillance footage and conducted interviews, learning that many people had heard dog barking from Hu Meng's room, suspecting she was secretly keeping a dog. Hu Meng and Grandpa Hou returned from walking the dog and were blocked at the entrance by Ye Xiaomei. Hu Meng and Grandpa Hou vehemently defended themselves, but Ye Xiaomei opened her bag, discovered the puppy, and forcibly took it away.
In a fit of anger, Hu Meng threatened to go on a hunger strike. Wu Hui's earnest persuasion was fruitless. Ye Xiaomei explained the consequences to Hu Meng, advising her to eat properly or face the repercussions herself. Hu Meng was furious and, in a huff, threw out her meal. Ye Xiaomei asked Guo Sanshuang to foster Hu Meng's puppy at a pet store.
Guo Sanshuang had just finished the procedures and was about to leave when he suddenly received a distress call from Ye Xiaomei, only then realizing Hu Meng was on a hunger strike.
