After Teng Dan's wake, with most of the crowd having dispersed, Fu Zi, Niu Meili, and Fu Papa finally saw Hao Zeyu arrive to bid Teng Dan a final farewell. Hao Zeyu asked the trio to leave, as he wished to be alone with Teng Dan. Though slightly worried, Fu Zi complied.

As he placed Teng Dan's portrait by his side, Hao Zeyu noticed the surrounding flowers and felt a deep sense of guilt, realizing that nobody seemed to know Teng Dan was allergic to pollen. He regretted deeply that if he had known their next meeting would be this way, he would have smiled at her the last time they met at the film set, and he had even intended to apologize to her the night before she passed away.

He took out a coin and tossed it; it landed on the side that symbolized forgiveness. Hao Zeyu smiled, acknowledging that Teng Dan had always been forgiving, even when his apology was long overdue. As Teng Dan's image began to blur in his mind, Hao Zeyu felt he had truly lost his last remaining family. Soon after, Niu Meili received a call from a television journalist requesting an interview.

The journalist inquired about Hao Zeyu's smile at the wake and expressed interest in his relationship with Teng Dan. Niu Meili was infuriated by the online news articles, which sensationally twisted Hao Zeyu's smile into implying an inappropriate relationship with Teng Dan and lamented that no one ever reported on his hard work. Worried that Hao Zeyu might be unable to cope with the online backlash, Fu Zi rushed to his house, knocking frantically, but received no response.

She feared he might have had suicidal thoughts due to the comments. However, Hao Zeyu soon appeared, having just been out. Fu Zi was relieved to see him. Hao Zeyu's house was meticulously clean. He seemed indifferent to the online news, stating that he didn't care about the netizens' comments, viewing them merely as an outlet for their emotions, and saw no need to explain or make a sentimental memorial post on Weibo.

Fu Zi picked up Teng Dan's unopened will, which Hao Zeyu had discarded in the trash, deeming it useless now that Teng Dan was gone. Hao Zeyu handed Fu Zi a bank card, explaining that Teng Dan's insurance money would be deposited in a few days and instructing Fu Zi to use it to pay Niu Meili's debts. Fu Zi remained concerned and asked why he had smiled at the funeral.

Hao Zeyu explained that Teng Dan would not have wanted to see him cry; a smile would make her believe he was doing well, allowing her to rest more peacefully. Fu Zi still worried that giving her the bank card was his way of making final arrangements. Meanwhile, Niu Meili visited Ren Jiajia at her school and found her rushing to apply makeup. In her excitement, Niu Meili accidentally snatched and broke Ren Jiajia's eyebrow pencil.

She immediately offered a new one of her own, advising Ren Jiajia to use it later and focus on her studies rather than makeup. Ren Jiajia proceeded to finish her eyebrows with Niu Meili's pencil, then deliberately broke it and took back her own original broken one before leaving, leaving Niu Meili with mixed feelings. Fu Zi was increasingly perturbed by Hao Zeyu's behavior, especially his failure to shed a single tear since Teng Dan's death.

When Fu Papa analyzed the situation, it scared Fu Zi deeply, making her fear Hao Zeyu might commit suicide. She immediately prepared to go and guard him. However, Fu Papa disagreed, locking Fu Zi inside the house and going to Hao Zeyu's himself, pretending to visit on Fu Zi's behalf but driven by his own genuine concern.

Hao Zeyu's views on life and death seemed eerily detached, and he admitted that he indeed felt hopeless and had considered several methods of suicide. Fu Papa decided to stay and drink with him, patiently counseling him that nothing in the world is insurmountable, and reminding him that he still had Fu Zi and Niu Meili by his side, but Hao Zeyu still felt living was without hope.

Niu Meili discovered that Hao Zeyu's home address had been doxxed by a netizen. She quickly called Fu Zi, urging her to immediately go to Hao Zeyu's house and get him out, as the location was now dangerous. Just as Fu Zi was about to rush out, Hao Zeyu and Fu Papa stumbled into the alley, heavily intoxicated and supporting each other, slurring "buddies" back and forth. Fu Zi was disgusted by their drunken state.

Once inside, they continued to demand more alcohol. Fu Papa even stood in the living room and performed Jingdong Drum Singing for Hao Zeyu, who applauded from the sofa. Fu Zi, struggling to suppress her laughter, secretly took out her phone and started recording a video. The next morning, Fu Papa and Hao Zeyu woke up on the sofa, with Fu Papa hugging Hao Zeyu. They were startled and immediately started arguing.

Fu Zi watched the scene with amusement, then showed them the video she had taken of their "harmonious and happy" drunken antics from the previous night. Both men were mortified, covering their faces in embarrassment. With paparazzi now staking out Hao Zeyu's basement apartment daily, Niu Meili suggested that he temporarily move into Fu Zi's home for a few days. She asked Fu Papa and Fu Zi to go to Hao Zeyu's house to pack his daily necessities.

At Hao Zeyu's apartment, Fu Zi was confronted with the mess left from their drunken evening and began to scold Fu Papa for his excessive drinking. While tidying, Fu Zi picked up a sweater and Teng Dan's will. Meanwhile, Hao Zeyu discussed with Niu Meili his intention to terminate their contract.

He explained that she had initially signed him because of Teng Dan, but now that Teng Dan was gone, and he wasn't a "money tree," he believed their contract should come to an end.
