Gong Ming, who was in exile in Qian Tang, was being pursued by assassins. As a sword struck him, he vanished in an instant, leaving no trace or blood. His pursuers were baffled, believing he had used witchcraft and magic, finding it unimaginable that a mere Confucian scholar could possess such powers. Gong Ming reappeared in 2015, in Hangzhou. He approached a young woman, asking for directions and stating he needed her help as he had observed her guiding people.

Later, Xiangxiang received a call from Gong Ming, who confirmed he had narrowly escaped death, describing it as a "nine-deaths-one-life" experience. She expressed immense worry, noting that across two millennia, she had no way of knowing if he was alive, and that she had been told he was dead. Gong Ming apologized for causing her distress. He then asked her to come to Hangzhou to assist him.

Xiaonan Bro, hearing Xiangxiang needed to go to Hangzhou, questioned if she truly liked Gong Ming, but Xiangxiang brushed it off, stating Gong Ming knew no one else there. Han Yufei, overhearing that Xiangxiang was heading to Hangzhou, immediately changed his schedule, concocting a plan to reschedule a magazine photoshoot and interview to Hangzhou, citing the need for scenic backdrops and offering to cover any excess budget.

His assistant observed that he was always acting, like a "giant baby, warm man, domineering president." In 2015, Hangzhou, Xiangxiang, Gong Ming, Xiaonan Bro, and Jing-jie were together. Xiangxiang expressed her desire to visit the History Museum to better understand her acting role, noting that with Gong Ming, a "history expert," she wouldn't be afraid of not understanding.

Xiaonan Bro, however, persuaded Jing-jie that their "cultural level" wasn't suited for a history museum and convinced her to go shopping instead, implicitly to give Xiangxiang and Gong Ming some alone time. Gong Ming explained to Xiangxiang that he had devised a plan to escape his predicament, inspired by seeing "giant flying birds" (airplanes) in the sky.

He believed that if he could travel to Chang'an by plane, he could surprise his enemies and, with the help of his jade pendant, turn the situation around. He then requested Xiangxiang to teach him how to survive in this modern world, including how to take a car and an airplane, emphasizing that all the knowledge of this era would greatly assist his strategy. Xiangxiang enthusiastically agreed.

She began teaching him about modern currency and simple arithmetic, which Gong Ming quickly grasped, impressing Xiangxiang who joked that "ancestors are indeed smarter than us." He admitted his skill in "mathematics" since elementary education. Xiangxiang also taught him how to hail a taxi. While in a taxi, they observed a modern couple arguing about infidelity on a screen.

Gong Ming found the woman's assertive behavior unbecoming for a "Great Han" lady, causing Xiangxiang to comment that his thoughts were "completely those of an ancestor"—too conservative and repressed—though she immediately softened, saying he didn't mean to displease her. Gong Ming then acknowledged that he learned everything from "Master Xiangxiang," and she playfully agreed that "a famous teacher produces outstanding students."

Meanwhile, in 16 BC Chang'an, officials pressed the Emperor to fill the vacant empress's position, citing public unease and using the "Gong Ming case" to justify the deposed empress's fate. They advocated for Zhao Jieyu, praising her virtue. When the Emperor raised concerns about the Zhao clan's humble origins, the officials suggested conferring a marquis title upon Zhao Jieyu's father to legitimize her ascension.

Wang Mang and his allies celebrated their near success in elevating Zhao Jieyu to the empress position. During their celebration, an ally inadvertently revealed to a surprised Wang Mang that Zi Xiu had already been dispatched to assassinate Gong Ming at his place of exile and had likely succeeded. Wang Mang was visibly distraught by this news. He then reminisced about his childhood with Gong Ming and Ying Yue, lamenting the loss of his "sole confidant."

Later, Xiaonan Bro and Jing-jie were heavily inebriated at a bar. Jing-jie, in her drunken state, confessed she missed her ex-boyfriend and tearfully sang about her heartbreak, stating she couldn't forget him. Xiaonan Bro advised her that the best way to forget someone was to start a new relationship. Jing-jie then surprisingly declared her feelings for Tianxiu, saying that Xiaonan Bro believed they were unsuitable. Xiangxiang took Gong Ming to watch a movie.

He was deeply moved, finding the concept of a "fictional story" incredible, contrasting it with the Han dynasty's practice of only recording true history. He also expressed admiration for Xiangxiang's appearance in "Shenyi wide sleeves" (traditional Han attire), which he had seen in a film clip, remarking on how beautiful she looked. As they left the cinema, walking on a bridge, the city lights resembled stars.

Xiangxiang then introduced Gong Ming to the concept of zodiac signs, calculating that his March 24th birth date made him a Taurus. She teased him, saying he perfectly embodied the "rigid, stubborn, conservative" traits of a Taurus, but also highlighted the positive aspects: being "cautious, responsible, patient," and "very dedicated to the person you love." When Xiangxiang mentioned feeling cold, Gong Ming affectionately embraced her. Xiangxiang, overcome with emotion, couldn't help but kiss Gong Ming.

As they passionately embraced, Xiangxiang remembered an old house where she had lived with her parents for eight years and suggested they go there. Gong Ming, looking at her with deep affection, took her hand. Upon arriving at the old house, Gong Ming initiated a kiss. They then lay on the bed, undressing and kissing each other. Suddenly, Xiaonan Bro called Xiangxiang, urging her to return immediately, though he didn't elaborate on the emergency.

Xiangxiang promised Gong Ming they would return together. As they were walking, Han Yufei's assistant recognized Gong Ming as the "pervert" they had previously encountered in the hospital. Han Yufei, seeing Xiangxiang and Gong Ming, immediately called security, accusing Gong Ming of being a stalker. As security guards moved to apprehend Gong Ming, Xiangxiang intervened, vehemently denying he was a pervert. To everyone's shock, she declared, "He's my boyfriend."
