Lin Xiangxiang taught Gong Ming how to ride a bicycle, describing it as the greatest invention of modern times. She patiently guided him, encouraging him as he quickly grasped the skill. Gong Ming found it as exhilarating as riding a horse for the first time decades ago. Xiangxiang remarked that it had been years since someone had given her a ride, to which Gong Ming replied it was his honor.

Meanwhile, in the Han Dynasty, the Wang family was in turmoil after Emperor Cheng of the Han Dynasty refused an audience with Wang Mang. They feared losing the Emperor's favor, but some suggested they still had Zhao Jieyu, who was favored by the Emperor, to rely on. Wang Mang, however, dismissed relying on such a "fox" and declared he had his own comprehensive plan to stop Empress Xu from being reinstated and reverse their unfavorable situation.

He then rallied a group of men, promising them wealth and glory if they proved loyal and acted as "dead soldiers" in his grand scheme. Back in modern times, Han Yufei was found heavily drunk by Wu Tianxiu. Despite receiving an award he had long coveted, Han Yufei was distraught, unable to comprehend that the "man in Xiangxiang's imagination" actually existed.

He questioned if Lin Xiangxiang had been using him from the start or was cheating, finding both answers intolerable as it contradicted the Xiangxiang he knew. Wu Tianxiu tried to comfort him by jokingly admitting his own "playboy" past and suggesting this was karma, which surprisingly helped Han Yufei feel a little better, acknowledging Wu Tianxiu as the only one brave enough to speak the truth.

After their bike ride, Lin Xiangxiang and Gong Ming relaxed when Lin Xiangxiang received a call from her manager, Jing Jie. Jing Jie urged her to watch TV, where Han Yufei was seen drunk at an event, publicly implying problems in his relationship with Lin Xiangxiang and stating that one of them would have to withdraw from their drama. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Lin Xiangxiang knew she had to return to deal with it, despite Gong Ming's reassurances.

She expressed her fear of him disappearing again, and they shared a tender moment before she left. Upon her return to the film set, Lin Xiangxiang learned from the director that either she or Han Yufei would have to leave the production due to his refusal to work with her. She resolved to talk to Han Yufei, who was also at the set.

Han Yufei remained unyielding, reiterating that he could not cooperate with her and insisted that one of them must quit. He accused her of cheating and using him for fame, especially after she admitted to liking Gong Ming. Lin Xiangxiang passionately defended Gong Ming, stating he was not the "bastard" Han Yufei portrayed him to be, and urged Han Yufei to maintain professionalism to avoid disrupting the drama's production, but he refused, prioritizing his personal feelings.

After her tense encounter with Han Yufei, Lin Xiangxiang was distraught when Gong Ming briefly returned to the Han Dynasty to speak with his mentor. Fearing he would not return and might lose his memory again, she cried anxiously. However, Gong Ming soon reappeared in modern times.

He comforted her, explaining he had seen his mentor and had firmly decided to stay permanently in the modern world with her, promising to conclude his affairs in the Han Dynasty as quickly as possible and return for good. Back in the Han Dynasty, Wang Mang, burdened by the responsibility of his family, painfully decided to eliminate Gong Ming.

He led his family to seek an audience with Queen Mother Wang Zhengjun, accusing Gong Ming of using witchcraft to frame Wang Shu and destabilize the court. At the same time, Gong Ming's mentor informed Ying Yue that Gong Ming had decided to remain in the modern world to marry Lin Xiangxiang, as his mission in Dahan was concluding with Empress Xu's impending reinstatement.

Ying Yue, devastated, confronted Gong Ming, questioning if he would truly abandon everything in Dahan and defy destiny for one woman. Gong Ming affirmed his decision, stating he would have no regrets, even if it meant death, and encouraged Ying Yue to live her own life instead of being his shadow. Meanwhile, Han Yufei's continued refusal to film with Lin Xiangxiang forced the director to use Xia Xiaonan as a stand-in for scenes involving the emperor.

Han Yufei's fans, incensed by the public drama, surrounded and verbally attacked Lin Xiangxiang, accusing her of using Han Yufei for publicity. Xia Xiaonan bravely stepped in to protect her and was physically assaulted by the angry fans, losing some of his hair in the commotion. Despite being shaken, Lin Xiangxiang remained composed, stating she would let her work speak for itself. Gong Ming prepared to formally resign from his official post in the Han Dynasty.

He transferred his family assets and his residence to Ying Yue, who was concerned for his safety and insisted on accompanying him to the palace as his last act of protection. During his audience with Emperor Cheng, Gong Ming humbly requested to retire from public life and live in seclusion, citing his desire to pursue new knowledge.

He also offered a heartfelt warning to the Emperor about the excessive power of the Wang family, particularly stressing the presence of unscrupulous individuals among them, and urged the Emperor to govern with benevolence, curb the influence of foreign relatives, and root out corrupt officials. While initially disheartened by Gong Ming's departure, Emperor Cheng commended his integrity and ultimately granted his request for resignation and retirement.

Gong Ming and his mentor discussed the Queen Mother's unusual invitation for him to a spring event, sensing a potential trap by the Wang family. Gong Ming believed it would be his final encounter with Wang Mang before leaving the Han Dynasty permanently and resolved to attend. During this public gathering, an assassin, orchestrated by Wang Mang, attacked Gong Ming. In front of the assembled officials and Queen Mother Wang Zhengjun, Gong Ming vanished into thin air.

The assassin then loudly accused Gong Ming of using witchcraft before taking his own life. Gong Ming reappeared in modern times, still dressed in his Han Dynasty attire. He hurried to a library to research and discovered that both his own fate and that of Empress Xu had changed in the historical records, now indicating accusations of witchcraft altered their fates. Lin Xiangxiang also noticed the alterations to history.

Rushing home, she found Gong Ming unconscious and immediately took him to the hospital. In Chang'an, news of Gong Ming's alleged use of witchcraft spread rapidly. Wang Mang declared that Gong Ming posed a threat to the Emperor, and Queen Mother Wang Zhengjun pressured Emperor Cheng, who reluctantly issued an imperial warrant for Gong Ming's arrest.
