Han Yufei attempts to kiss Lin Xiangxiang, but she recoils from his advances. Later, she tearfully confesses to Jin Jing that she can no longer deceive herself and must break up with Han Yufei. Lin Xiangxiang acknowledges that Han Yufei treats her very well and has made an effort to change for her, aspiring to be a good boyfriend. However, she can't continue to pretend.
Jin Jing vehemently opposes this decision, warning that it would severely damage Lin Xiangxiang's acting career, causing a backlash from fans and reporters. She reminds Lin Xiangxiang that she had initially opposed their reconciliation, and it was Lin Xiangxiang herself who decided to give the relationship another try, only to now want to end it.
Lin Xiangxiang explains that despite believing Gong Ming was a dream or a fantasy, he feels real in her heart, and she constantly thinks of him, even though she can no longer remember his face. Jin Jing insists that Gong Ming is merely an illusion and urges Lin Xiangxiang to embrace her successful reality. Lin Xiangxiang reluctantly agrees to try her best to forget Gong Ming and adapt to Han Yufei.
In the Han Dynasty, Gong Ming receives a letter from Wang Mang, inviting him to a meeting to share a "long story." Ying Yue expresses deep concern, suspecting a trap and reminding him that the Wang family has previously sent assassins after him. Gong Ming dismisses her fears, affirming his trust in Wang Mang and still considering him a confidant.
He tells Ying Yue that since he has prepared a betrothal gift for her, she is no longer his guard, and he wants to shield her from danger, despite her offer to accompany him. He then departs to meet Wang Mang. During their meeting, Gong Ming reveals to Wang Mang that he lost all his memories after discussing the political situation with him earlier.
He vaguely recalls a dispute where Wang Mang seemed to want to kill him, which Wang Mang denies. Wang Mang reiterates his past warnings to Gong Ming: to stop supporting the deposed empress and to cease opposing the Wang family, claiming Gong Ming refused to heed his advice. Wang Mang reasserts the immense power of the Wang family, suggesting Gong Ming's stubbornness led to his misfortune.
Gong Ming defiantly declares that he will always uphold justice and orthodoxy, even if he loses his life or memory multiple times, refusing to rely on the Wang family's influence. Wang Mang warns him that those who defy him will not find peace. Gong Ming then reveals his intention to marry Ying Yue, explaining her deep devotion and repeated sacrifices for him, confirming it is also her wish. Wang Mang is clearly surprised.
He then presents Gong Ming with a jade pendant, which Gong Ming recognizes as Ying Yue's, though he admits he has forgotten its function and briefly wonders if Wang Mang was the assassin who had it. Wang Mang returns the jade pendant as a congratulatory gift for their marriage. After Gong Ming departs, Wang Mang's subordinate, Zixiu, expresses worry that giving Gong Ming the jade pendant will enable him to use his "witchcraft" again.
Disregarding the warning, Wang Mang orders his men to fire arrows at Gong Ming. At that very moment, Gong Ming vanishes. Gong Ming finds himself transported to a swimming pool in the modern world, which he recognizes as "the world two thousand years later." He gets dressed and unknowingly walks to the place he had agreed upon with Lin Xiangxiang.
He calls Lin Xiangxiang's phone number, but Jin Jing answers, dismissing his formal speech as a "ghost call" from a stranger. Gong Ming then encounters Lin Xiangxiang in person and asks if she recognizes him, but she states it's their first meeting. Han Yufei, her boyfriend, quickly escorts her away, disturbed by the "strange man." Lin Xiangxiang is also confused by the strange phone call and encounter.
Soon after, Gong Ming receives a package containing the couple's rings, which Lin Xiangxiang had left at the hotel. As he puts on one of the rings, his memories of Lin Xiangxiang fully return. Meanwhile, Lin Xiangxiang attends the "L'Oreal Paris Sportsman Night" awards ceremony, walking the red carpet with Han Yufei. As she walks, Gong Ming appears, walks up to her, and takes her hand, placing the ring in it.
He apologizes for being late, but Lin Xiangxiang, still suffering from memory loss, does not recognize him and is bewildered by his actions. Gong Ming seeks out Jin Jing and Xiaonan, who have now received more calls from him and confront him in person. They reiterate that he is a "stalker" and that Lin Xiangxiang does not know him.
Gong Ming clarifies that Lin Xiangxiang herself gave him her number and shows them the ring, explaining how he and Lin Xiangxiang bought it. Xiaonan notices his story aligns with things Lin Xiangxiang had mentioned. Jin Jing, however, firmly states that there is no "Gong Ming" in Lin Xiangxiang's life and that she is now very happy with her boyfriend, Han Yufei.
Upon learning that Lin Xiangxiang is "happy" and that his presence makes her "fatigued," Gong Ming becomes disheartened, deciding it is best for her happiness if he leaves and causes no further trouble. Meanwhile, Lin Xiangxiang, wearing the ring Gong Ming gave her, is overwhelmed by a rush of memories. His image becomes clear in her mind, and she suddenly remembers everything, including their one-month promise and his vow of "holding on until death do we part."
Realizing that the man on the red carpet was indeed Gong Ming, she immediately rushes out to find him. She first goes to a coffee shop where Jin Jing and Xiaonan mentioned meeting him, but he is already gone. Distraught, she hurries to their pre-arranged meeting spot, desperately hoping to find him. Just as she is about to give up, Gong Ming, who had decided to turn back, reappears.
Lin Xiangxiang runs into his arms, crying and apologizing for having forgotten him. Gong Ming, in turn, apologizes for being late and for failing to keep his promise due to his memory loss. Lin Xiangxiang tearfully expresses her frustration at waiting so long for him. He reassures her that his memory has fully returned and proves it by recalling intimate details, including their first meeting, when they decided to be together, and even their first kiss. They embrace tightly, their lost memories and profound connection finally restored.
