Love of Thousand Years Episode 29 Recap
> Love of Thousand Years Recap
Tan Chuan desperately called out to Fu Jiuyun, who was trapped within his own heart demon. The Demon King taunted Tan Chuan, explaining that Fu Jiuyun's energy would be depleted in mere moments. He offered a cruel choice: surrender the Qingying stone and the spiritual lamp, and Fu Jiuyun would be spared. Overwhelmed with fear for Fu Jiuyun, Tan Chuan resolved to save him.
Despite Fu Jiuyun's spectral pleas for her to let go, Tan Chuan declared she would never release him. She dropped the Qingying stone and entered his heart demon, determined to awaken him. Within their respective heart demons, others also wrestled with their inner turmoil. Meishan found himself reliving a painful past with Xinmei, begging her to wait and listen. Zuo Zichen was trapped in a nightmare where he repeatedly proclaimed his innocence against accusations of treason.
Xuanzhu, too, was tormented by visions of Xinmei, pleading with her not to leave. Meanwhile, the Demon King continued to pressure Tan Chuan to surrender the lamp, but she defiantly stated they would die together if necessary. Outside the illusions, Ting Yuan, who had remained conscious, broke the barrier Fu Jiuyun had set. As Fu Jiuyun and Tan Chuan successfully overcame their heart demons, they emerged to confront the Demon King.
Just then, Ting Yuan appeared and stabbed the Demon King, revealing himself as the true possessor of the unique Birth Chart, having hidden his identity for years to one day rid Tianyuan of demons. Seizing the opportunity, Fu Jiuyun began to set up a powerful formation, vowing to make the Demon King suffer. The Demon King tried to tempt Tan Chuan, promising her endless demonic power to restore her country, Da Li.
However, Tan Chuan firmly rejected his offer, stating her only desire was a world free from demons. With his defeat imminent, the Demon King warned that his death would not bring peace, as the ancient Demon God was on the verge of resurrection. Tan Chuan and Fu Jiuyun joined forces, successfully killing the Demon King and sealing his spiritual power within the spiritual lamp. As the battle concluded, Fu Jiuyun embraced Tan Chuan, telling her it was over.
Tan Chuan expressed how her life, once consumed by hatred, had been transformed by his presence. He had shown her the simple joys of life, and she confessed her deep desire to spend the rest of her life with him, raising many children. She made him promise to live on so they could have their future. Moments later, Meishan and Zuo Zichen arrived.
They were relieved to confirm the Demon King's demise, but their relief was short-lived as the Demon God suddenly manifested, fully revived. Zuo Zichen, who had recently discovered his own special purpose, despaired that it was all meaningless against such a formidable threat. Fu Jiuyun, realizing the Demon King's true objective had been to resurrect the ancient Demon God, somberly stated that while he had averted the immediate disaster, he could not stop the impending doom.
Fu Jiuyun then gently urged Tan Chuan to light the spiritual lamp, understanding that it was the only way to end the larger threat. Tan Chuan vehemently refused, unable to bear the thought of losing him. Fu Jiuyun explained that his very existence was for this purpose and that being with her was the greatest happiness of his life, but his destiny was inescapable. Tan Chuan, heartbroken, pleaded with him, reminding him of their promises for a future together.
Seeing Zuo Zichen desperately fighting the resurgent Demon God, Xuanzhu made a painful decision. As a princess of Da Li, she shared a bloodline with Tan Chuan, allowing her to make the sacrifice. Declaring that she would be first this time, she revealed that the lamp required a blood bond from a royal relative. Tan Chuan, realizing Xuanzhu's intent, rushed to stop her but was repelled. Xuanzhu, in a final act of resolve, plunged the spiritual lamp into herself.
As the Demon God was sealed once more, Xuanzhu collapsed into Zuo Zichen's arms. In her dying breaths, she revealed her long-held, humble love for him, recalling her joy in their simple moments together on Xiangqu Mountain. She confessed her feelings of being redundant, especially when Tan Chuan was present, and only wished for him to truly see her and remember her.
Overcome with grief, Zuo Zichen confessed that he had loved her for a long time, wishing he could return to their days on the mountain. He blamed his own weakness for never expressing his true feelings. Hearing his confession, Xuanzhu found peace in her final moments. Her essence was absorbed into the spiritual lamp, which then ignited Fu Jiuyun, the lamp's core, signaling his impending demise.
With his body beginning to disappear, Fu Jiuyun calmly carried the grieving Tan Chuan back to their room. He laid her gently on a bed, using his magic to ease her into a deep sleep. As she drifted off, she murmured her desire to always see him, and he softly promised she could look at him forever. With a final, sorrowful kiss and his mind filled with cherished memories of their time together, Fu Jiuyun's form slowly vanished.
