Lost in The Kunlun Mountains Episode 6 Recap
> Lost in The Kunlun Mountains Recap
Luo Jiutian, concerned that the secret of robbing the Qing Dynasty tomb might be exposed to Luo Yunsong, decided to pin the blame on his subordinate to protect himself. He questioned his subordinate about how Chu Fengling learned the secret, to which the subordinate denied any involvement.
Luo Jiutian then insisted that if Luo Yunsong discovered their illicit activities, they would claim the subordinate acted alone, reasoning that tomb robbing was his "old job" while Luo Jiutian himself was an "integral and innocent" person. He successfully coerced his subordinate into admitting to the crime, then playfully threatened him before musing about the dragon bone's whereabouts. Meanwhile, Wu Shuang, still distraught over losing the dragon bone, ventured alone into the Luo mansion to retrieve it.
She inadvertently stumbled into Chu Fengling's room and engaged in a struggle with Auntie Hei. Wu Shuang proved no match for Auntie Hei and was quickly subdued. Upon learning Wu Shuang's name, Chu Fengling was delighted, noting that her second brother, Luo Yunsong, had often praised Wu Shuang's beauty and formidable skills. Despite Wu Shuang's apologies for her intrusion, Chu Fengling insisted they were similar, having both "done a similar thing."
She invited Wu Shuang to stay for tea, highlighting their shared goal of finding the dragon bone and reminding Wu Shuang that she had once saved Ding Yunqi. During their conversation, Chu Fengling inquired how Wu Shuang managed to enter the mansion and locate her room. Wu Shuang explained she was drawn by a distinct, pleasant fragrance.
Recognizing it as her Western perfume, Chu Fengling explained its similarity to a Chinese sachet and instructed Auntie Hei to give Wu Shuang a bottle. Wu Shuang initially demurred, feeling awkward accepting a gift after attempting to steal from the house, but Chu Fengling dismissed her concerns, stating she appreciated Wu Shuang's presence regardless of the reason.
Ding Yunqi, after being told by San Jin that Wu Shuang had been out for a while, suspected she might have gone to the Luo mansion. He went there to check on her. To his surprise, he found Chu Fengling and Wu Shuang appearing to be on very friendly terms. Chu Fengling also reminded Ding Yunqi of his agreement to attend a dinner at her home the following day, to which he affirmed.
As Ding Yunqi and Wu Shuang left, Chu Fengling returned his luggage. Outside, Ding Yunqi was shown the perfume Wu Shuang received, confirming her unexpected new friendship with Chu Fengling. Wu Shuang recounted her failed attempt to find the dragon bone and her defeat by Auntie Hei. Ding Yunqi acknowledged the difficulty of obtaining the dragon bone and wondered if Chu Fengling could assist them, though Wu Shuang expressed her distrust, finding Chu Fengling "strange" and "uncomfortable."
Later, Chu Fengling informed Luo Yunsong of her decision to invite Ding Yunqi for dinner, hoping to "turn enemy into friend" through diplomacy rather than confrontation. Luo Yunsong was angered by her unilateral action, likening it to "bringing a wolf into the house" and questioning her lack of consultation. Chu Fengling, however, stressed the need for a strategic approach given Ding Yunqi's stubborn nature.
Luo Yunsong, recognizing her authority as a special commissioner of the Kunlun Ruins investigation, reluctantly agreed to her plan. Luo Jiutian, also present, expressed eagerness to attend, hoping to see Wu Shuang. Luo Yunsong warned Luo Jiutian not to cause any trouble or engage in a fight with Ding Yunqi, to which Luo Jiutian conceded, saying he was too old to fight and couldn't beat Ding Yunqi anyway.
Concurrently, Luo Yunsong instructed his men to conduct surveillance on Ding Yunqi, telling two to disguise themselves as students, two as poor women, and four others to maintain their current appearance, all while keeping a close watch. The next day, Ding Yunqi arrived at the Luo mansion alone for dinner. Luo Jiutian, waiting at the entrance, was visibly disappointed by Wu Shuang's absence.
He attempted to provoke Ding Yunqi, who calmly stated he was there as a guest and not to fight. Inside, Chu Fengling presented her certificate of appointment as a special commissioner for the Kunlun Ruins investigation, explaining her dedication to women's and charity work with Her Ladyship, and her current mission to investigate the Kunlun Ruins. She proposed cooperation with Ding Yunqi. Ding Yunqi, however, insisted on addressing the dragon bone issue first.
Sensing rising tension between Ding Yunqi and Luo Yunsong, Chu Fengling gracefully intervened, suggesting they begin dinner and discuss over the meal. During the dinner, Chu Fengling offered the return of the dragon bone and the withdrawal of Ding Yuanshan's arrest warrant as conditions for cooperation. Ding Yunqi, expressing distrust, stated that it was not the right time for such discussions due to their lingering negative impressions of each other and his perceived danger.
He clarified that he was merely a doctor, not part of the Penta-sect, and possessed limited knowledge of the Kunlun Ruins; only his father could unlock its secrets. He emphasized that the Kunlun Ruins belonged to the Penta-sect, not the Ding family, and his father would likely never agree to hand it over. Therefore, he reiterated his need for the dragon bone to find his father and advance the matter.
Chu Fengling passionately explained her motivations, citing her return from abroad to contribute to the war-torn nation and its people, envisioning the Kunlun Ruins' wealth as a means to end poverty and war. Ding Yunqi, while acknowledging her sincerity, rejected the notion of patriotism being a "transaction" for his father's freedom. He declined to cooperate. Luo Yunsong, in turn, declared his full support for his sister's initiative.
As Ding Yunqi prepared to leave the Luo mansion, Chu Fengling expressed her regret for not being able to return the dragon bone that day, returning his luggage to show her sincerity. Though unable to persuade him, Chu Fengling remained determined to continue her efforts. On their way home, Ding Yunqi, Sun Sanxuan, Wu Shuang, and San Jin realized they were being followed by Luo Yunsong's men. They decided to split up to evade their trackers.
San Jin, confident in his ability to escape on his own, departed separately, as did Wu Shuang, who headed back to her master. Ding Yunqi was then approached by a masked figure who swiftly incapacitated his pursuers. Ding Yunqi questioned if the figure was his father's friend, but the person remained silent and left without a word. Later, a subordinate confirmed Ding Yunqi's address in the French Concession to Luo Yunsong.
Recognizing the difficulty of direct action in the French Concession, Luo Yunsong decided to place Ding Yunqi under surveillance and assigned Luo Jiutian to the task, with strict instructions not to inform Chu Fengling. Luo Jiutian, frustrated by Ding Yunqi's defiance, vowed revenge. His subordinate also reminded him of their low sale price for the goods from the Qing tomb. While on surveillance in the French Concession, Luo Jiutian spotted Wu Shuang buying fruit.
Ignoring his subordinate's reminder to focus on Ding Yunqi, he eagerly approached her. Luo Jiutian began to flirt with Wu Shuang, calling her "beauty" and "wife," much to her annoyance. He then falsely claimed to know the dragon bone's location, boasting that he had tricked Luo Yunsong into revealing it during a drunken dinner. He told Wu Shuang that it was hidden in a secret corner of the Luo mansion and offered to take her there to retrieve it.
Despite Wu Shuang's initial skepticism and threats of retribution if he lied, she, being somewhat naive, eventually agreed to accompany him to the mansion in his car. Upon arriving at the Luo mansion, Luo Jiutian tried to ply Wu Shuang with food and drinks, but she remained focused on getting the dragon bone. He then offered her a "soda," which she initially hesitated to drink.
However, when Luo Jiutian claimed it was Chu Fengling's favorite drink, brought from abroad and consumed daily, Wu Shuang became interested and took a sip. Finding the bubbly taste peculiar but intrigued, she continued to drink, encouraged by Luo Jiutian. After a few sips, she quickly lost consciousness. Luo Jiutian's subordinate, witnessing the scene, remarked that Luo Jiutian had put "too much medicine" in the drink. Luo Jiutian then ordered his subordinate to tie Wu Shuang up.
Shortly after, a mansion employee, who had seen Wu Shuang arrive with Luo Jiutian, reported her presence to Auntie Hei. Recognizing Wu Shuang and sensing trouble, Auntie Hei immediately went to investigate.
