Ding Yunqi went to see Chu Fengling, who initially refused to open her door. Ding Yunqi provoked her by saying she was just like Wu Shuang, always keeping people out, but noted that Wu Shuang never fell for his tactics. This prompted Chu Fengling to open the door and let him in, asking if he had come as a brother-in-law or to discipline her on behalf of her brother. Ding Yunqi clarified that he wished for her to leave.

Chu Fengling questioned his request, stating she hadn't violated their agreement or interfered with his actions. He then reminded her that her brother, Luo Yunsong, had hidden her true identity for years to protect her from danger, just as he himself had always treated her as a sister and wished her no harm. Chu Fengling countered that Ding Yunqi had already deeply hurt her by choosing Wu Shuang, revealing that she had never viewed him merely as a friend.

She assured him, however, that she had too much pride to pester him. Ding Yunqi expressed his concern that if she continued to work for the "madam" and oppose them, it would ultimately strain her relationships with her family. Chu Fengling disagreed, stating that everything she did was for her family.

She asserted that she was not as naive as Wu Shuang, having traveled and been educated, and understood the world's harsh rules of "natural selection" and "survival of the fittest," believing that only power could protect one's family. She pointed to Luo Jiutian's survival as proof that aligning with power was necessary. Ding Yunqi observed that Chu Fengling had changed, to which she readily agreed, saying that everyone had changed with the times.

She then revealed that both she and Luo Jiutian possessed a Soul Pursuit Order, making it impossible for Ding Yunqi to escape them. This made Ding Yunqi realize that Luo Jiutian was the impostor who had tricked the Head of Mountain-demounting into giving up his Soul Pursuit Order. Tired from the conversation, Chu Fengling asked Ding Yunqi to leave.

Outside, Ding Yunqi informed Luo Yunsong that he had to compromise with Chu Fengling because she was using the Soul Pursuit Order as leverage. Luo Yunsong was enraged by this misuse of the order and intended to confront her, but Ding Yunqi urged him to reconsider, warning that confronting her would only damage their sibling bond further.

Ding Yunqi also disclosed that Luo Jiutian held the Mountain-demounting Soul Pursuit Order, confirming he was the one who had deceived the Head of Mountain-demounting. Luo Yunsong expressed his exasperation with both his siblings. Ding Yunqi voiced his concern that Chu Fengling's obsession with power would only deepen if she continued on her current path. Their discussion was interrupted when Jiang Xuewen arrived, delivering the news that Zhou Qiuhai's funeral was being held that day and inviting them to attend.

This news momentarily diverted Luo Yunsong from his anger towards Chu Fengling. At the Mound-digging funeral, disciples performed the rites for Zhou Qiuhai. Wu Shuang, left alone with her master's remains, confessed her sorrow. She revealed that she had finally found her biological family – Luo Yunsong was her brother and Chu Fengling her sister – but despite no longer being an orphan, she felt no happiness and was unsure how to proceed.

Unseen by Wu Shuang, Luo Jiutian watched her from a distance, his eyes filled with sorrow. After the funeral, Wu Shuang returned to the headquarters, where familiar surroundings brought back memories of her master, intensifying her grief. After speaking with "Sanmei," Wu Shuang resolved to take on the mantle of Mound-digging's leadership. She summoned the disciples to announce her new directives.

Hua Xingchen, eager to know her plans, questioned "Sanmei," who, disheartened by his recent behavior, chastised him for only caring about personal gain and the position of Sect Leader. Wu Shuang then addressed the gathered disciples, acknowledging her lack of seniority but explaining that she was fulfilling her master's dying wish to become the Sect Leader. Her first decree was to annul the old Penta-sect rule, allowing Mound-digging disciples to freely marry and reconnect with family.

The sect would provide dowries for those marrying out and betrothal gifts for those marrying in. However, she firmly reiterated that Mound-digging's fundamental rules against wrongdoing remained, and any transgressions would be severely punished. She declared Tian Long their sworn enemy and vowed to avenge her master's death. Believing Tian Long would follow Ding Yunqi to Kunlun Mountains, she announced her plan to accompany Ding Yunqi to lure Tian Long out.

She designated Jiang Xuewen to continue managing Mound-digging's finances and affairs, and appointed Hua Xingchen to oversee the headquarters. Wu Shuang also made it clear that should she not return, Hua Xingchen would become the next Sect Leader, a responsibility he solemnly accepted. Later, Ding Yunqi found Wu Shuang, who had concluded her duties. She requested to revisit their matrimonial home. Ding Yunqi agreed, and they went to Mound-digging Region.

There, Wu Shuang reflected on how much had changed in just a few days, describing it as a dream and wishing things could revert to how they were. Ding Yunqi tried to persuade her to stay in Mound-digging for her safety, arguing that Tian Long's target was him, and her presence would put her in grave danger. He insisted that he needed to have no worries for her safety.

Wu Shuang, however, adamantly refused to be left behind, reminding him of their wedding vows and emphasizing that after losing her master, his departure would leave her a mere "walking corpse," depriving her of any happiness. She shrewdly surmised that Ding Yunqi and Luo Yunsong had failed to send Chu Fengling away because Chu Fengling used a Soul Pursuit Order to threaten them.

Wu Shuang then revealed that she now possessed three Soul Pursuit Orders – Heaven Official's, Mound-digging's, and Mountain-moving's – which she used as leverage to insist on accompanying him. Seeing her unwavering resolve, Ding Yunqi reluctantly agreed. Ding Yunqi then brought Wu Shuang to meet Luo Yunsong. Luo Yunsong expressed his happiness that she would be joining them and his understanding of her reluctance to immediately accept him as her brother.

He apologized for his past actions and insensitivity, acknowledging that he should have considered her feelings more. He promised to let their relationship develop naturally and hoped to live long enough to make amends. Wu Shuang, however, reiterated that her presence was not an indication of a change of heart regarding their sibling relationship, and she expressed indifference toward Chu Fengling's current difficulties. Luo Yunsong decided to convene everyone to discuss the situation. He instructed He Biao to locate Luo Jiutian, while he himself set out to speak with Chu Fengling once more.
