Lost in The Kunlun Mountains Episode 12 Recap
> Lost in The Kunlun Mountains Recap
During a transaction at the dock, a chaotic firefight erupted, leaving Luo Jiutian confused as he initially believed someone was merely trying to steal his goods. He quickly grasped the gravity of the situation upon seeing men strapped with explosives and ordered his own men to retreat to show sincerity. However, Commander Hu, having been tipped off by Cui Yanzhi, had already dispatched his forces.
An officer mockingly confirmed to Luo Jiutian that he was sent by "Sister Yanzhi's husband" to arrest him. Despite Luo Jiutian's attempt to flee, his lame leg and the speed of the military vehicles ensured he was swiftly captured. Ding Yunqi learned of Luo Jiutian's arrest and understood it was orchestrated by Zhou Qiuhai to sow conflict between Luo Yunsong and Commander Hu.
He urged Wu Shuang not to proceed with opening the Small Kunlun, fearing she would be caught in the inevitable power struggle. Wu Shuang dismissed his concerns, believing Commander Hu's actions were just a show of force to gain leverage for treasure. She argued that with Luo Jiutian as a hostage, Hu wouldn't dare seriously harm Luo Yunsong, a police director. Furthermore, with Chu Fengling present as Her Ladyship's special envoy, any direct action against her brother was unlikely.
Sun Sanxuan supported Wu Shuang, outvoting Ding Yunqi. Wu Shuang remained adamant that she must recover the dragon bone herself, as its loss was her responsibility. Later, Jiang Xuewen arrived, sent by Zhou Qiuhai, to also dissuade her. He argued that since she had already provided the precise location for a government-sanctioned excavation, not a private raid, her presence was unnecessary. Despite this, Wu Shuang was resolute.
Seeing her determination, Ding Yunqi relented, imploring her and Chu Fengling to look out for each other. Upon learning of his brother's arrest, Luo Yunsong concluded Commander Hu had orchestrated the entire opium trade to gain leverage. Believing Hu's goal was wealth, not murder, Luo Yunsong reasoned his brother was safe for now and decided not to contest the treasure hunt.
Recognizing he was outgunned and anticipating heightened security, Luo Yunsong canceled some deployments for the Small Kunlun expedition, ordering his elite Black Feather team to remain behind as a contingency. Cui Yanzhi met with Ding Yunqi, confirming that Commander Hu was after the Kunlun Mountain and expected Ding Yunqi's involvement. She again urged him to leave Shanghai, but when questioned, she revealed her true identity: Zi Gu, a member of the Penta-sect's Mountain-moving Sect.
She explained that six months prior, Ding Yuanshan had sent a letter instructing her sect to covertly assist Ding Yunqi in Shanghai, admitting she was the anonymous figure who had helped him previously. She warned that the situation was dire, with Xue Dingfeng now allied with Commander Hu and claiming a vast Han tomb lay beneath the Small Kunlun. Fearing Hu's desperation, she believed he would not hesitate to kill Luo Yunsong and Chu Fengling.
Ding Yunqi moved to intervene, but Cui Yanzhi stopped him, stating it was too late and they had likely already been captured. She assured him they were not in immediate danger, as Hu needed them for the Kunlun Mountain. Ding Yunqi despaired that they might die for a myth. Cui Yanzhi promised to gather intelligence from Hu's camp and advised Ding Yunqi to act cautiously.
At the Small Kunlun, Commander Hu, accompanied by Luo Yunsong and Chu Fengling, began the excavation. When Luo Yunsong subtly tried to lobby for his brother's release, Hu feigned ignorance until his Adjutant Jin confirmed the arrest of "opium traffickers." Hu promised to investigate before turning his attention to the tomb. Upon finding the tomb gate, Hu ordered his artillery to fire into the mountainside, a grand display to demonstrate his might.
He then revealed he knew this was merely a decoy tomb and angrily accused Luo Yunsong of trying to usurp the real treasure. Seeing the shocked looks on Wu Shuang and Luo Yunsong's faces, Chu Fengling realized she had been kept in the dark. Hu then brought out Xue Dingfeng, who declared a massive tomb—potentially the Kunlun Mountain—lay beneath.
Though Luo Yunsong dismissed it as fabrication, Hu was convinced and ordered the arrest of Luo Yunsong, Wu Shuang, Chu Fengling, and their concealed gunmen. They were all taken to the garrison prison, while soldiers were simultaneously dispatched to the Luo mansion to apprehend Auntie Hei and other servants.
In the garrison prison, an already incarcerated Luo Jiutian joked that his brother had come to "rescue" him and playfully offered a guard his ring to have Wu Shuang moved into his cell. Auntie Hei, held with Wu Shuang and Chu Fengling, recounted how soldiers stormed their home. In a separate cell, Luo Yunsong told his adjutant their official titles were now useless against fabricated charges of opium trafficking, deceiving Her Ladyship, and tomb raiding.
Their only option was to wait. Meanwhile, Wu Shuang confessed to Chu Fengling that a larger tomb did exist, regretting that she hadn't listened to Ding Yunqi and Zhou Qiuhai's warnings. When Chu Fengling asked why she was kept in the dark, Wu Shuang explained it was to prevent this exact scenario where a warlord's greed would endanger them. Chu Fengling felt immense guilt, but Wu Shuang cheerfully brushed it off, finding the dramatic turn of events "fun."
Fulfilling her promise, Cui Yanzhi visited Commander Hu to probe for information. He confirmed that two engineering companies were digging under Xue Dingfeng's supervision, but so far had only found "pots and pans." When Cui suggested using explosives, Hu refused, fearing it would destroy the treasure inside the confirmed lower tomb. Concurrently, Ding Yunqi met with Zhou Qiuhai and Jiang Xuewen. Jiang Xuewen reported that everyone was held in the garrison prison without being tortured or interrogated.
At the Small Kunlun, two companies of engineers led by Xue Dingfeng had cleared half the earth layer above the main tomb but had yet to find its entrance. Zhou Qiuhai suggested that since Hu's goal was wealth, they could try to exchange something for Wu Shuang, whom he considered the least important hostage. Ding Yunqi disagreed, asserting that Commander Hu's true aim was the legendary Kunlun Mountain. Given Hu's overwhelming firepower, Ding Yunqi knew a direct assault to rescue them was impossible.
