Legend of Yun Xi Episode 6 Recap
> Legend of Yun Xi Recap
Haunted by memories of a past battle, Long Feiye finds himself unable to sleep. He recalls the harrowing scene where Chu Xifeng and his men discovered him on a blood-soaked battlefield. All other soldiers and generals had fallen, leaving Long Feiye as the sole survivor, standing unconscious while clutching Tianning's war banner. The troubling memory of the carnage keeps him awake. The following day, Long Feiye joins Crown Prince Tianmo outside the city to welcome the Princess of Western Qiu.
Emperor Tianhui then discusses the arrangements for the ten thousand battle steeds brought by Western Qiu with Long Feiye. Long Feiye urges the Emperor to reconsider displacing local villagers for the steeds' grazing land, highlighting the potential hardship. However, Emperor Tianhui dismisses his concerns, prioritizing national strength over the immediate welfare of the populace. Following this, the Emperor invites Long Feiye to join him in a hot spring bath and a game of chess.
Meanwhile, at the Grand Marshal's Mansion, Crown Prince Tianmo and the Grand Marshal meet with Gu Qishao. Gu Qishao correctly deduces that the Crown Prince wants Prince Qin dead. He then confesses to orchestrating the assassination of the Minister of Grand Court's entire family, luring Prince Qin to the scene through the courtesan Yu Ze to frame him. Although Crown Prince Tianmo is frustrated by the death of the Minister, a loyal supporter, the Grand Marshal praises Gu Qishao's decisiveness.
Gu Qishao then proposes a bolder scheme: to manipulate the Emperor himself into eliminating Prince Qin. He argues that for this "borrowed knife" plan to succeed and shield the Crown Prince from suspicion, the victims used as bait must be officials known to be close to the Crown Prince. Convinced, Tianmo agrees to the plan. Back at the hot spring, Emperor Tianhui observes Long Feiye's numerous battle scars, expressing feigned remorse for the Prince's hardships.
He offers Long Feiye newly conquered territories to govern as a feudal prince. Long Feiye respectfully declines, citing the historical chaos caused by feudal lords. The Emperor then challenges Long Feiye to a game of chess, turning the match into a discussion of military strategy. Emperor Tianhui asserts that superior strength always prevails, subtly suggesting that Long Feiye should now "rest" from military affairs.
Long Feiye, however, humbly states his inability to relax while external enemies and internal traitors remain, affirming his duty to the empire. As evening approaches, the Princess of Western Qiu, Chu Qingge, awaits Emperor Tianhui's arrival in her chambers. When he finally arrives late, he is captivated by her beauty. Chu Qingge, however, states that beauty is fleeting and that she wishes only to be a supportive companion to ease his burdens.
She offers him Xianhao Tea, which he praises but does not drink, citing pressing state affairs before leaving. As soon as he departs, Chu Qingge instructs her mammy to discard the handkerchief she used to wipe her hand after the Emperor's touch. She explains that while he may not have directly killed her father, he is still her enemy, and her current goal is to eliminate his deep-seated suspicions of her.
In the capital, two more high-ranking officials – the Prime Minister's Aide and the Minister of Revenue – are found mysteriously dead. Emperor Tianhui is furious, demanding Mu Qingwu thoroughly investigate. Unbeknownst to him, these deaths are the direct result of the plot by Crown Prince Tianmo and Gu Qishao. In an earlier scene at Wanyan House, the Crown Prince, accompanied by the top courtesan Yu Ze, had been drinking with the two now-deceased officials.
He gifted them special tribute tea, normally reserved only for the Emperor and Empress Dowager, shortly before their deaths. Ten days have passed beyond the deadline set by the Empress Dowager for the birthmark investigation. Yun Xi, growing anxious, learns from Senior Maid Zhao that Long Feiye is now implicated not only in the Minister of Grand Court's case but also in the recent murders.
Determined to clear Long Feiye's name, Yun Xi resolves to identify the poison responsible, believing it will lead to the true culprits. That evening, she brings chicken soup to Long Feiye's study, using the opportunity to eavesdrop and learn that the poison experts in Prince Qin's Mansion and the Imperial Doctors are all unable to identify the substance. Yun Xi sees this as her chance to prove her worth.
During the morning court, ministers loyal to the Grand Marshal and Crown Prince Tianmo accuse Prince Qin of the murders. Despite the lack of evidence, the Grand Marshal suggests the Emperor strip Prince Qin of his duties and military command to appease the public. Long Feiye accepts the decree. Though the Crown Prince feels victorious, the Grand Marshal cautions him against complacency, advising him to keep Gu Qishao close but to eliminate him if he shows any disloyalty.
They also note Consort Qing's animosity towards Long Feiye, seeing it as a potential tool. Later, Emperor Tianhui privately expresses regret to Long Feiye, claiming the decision was a temporary measure. He then confides his concern about Beili's spies, stating that Long Feiye is the only one he can truly rely on. At the Yizhuang, Long Feiye and Chu Xifeng examine the bodies.
Long Feiye detects a lingering, unusual sandalwood scent, realizing it must have been on the victims before death. He instructs Chu Xifeng to investigate noble mansions for similar fragrances. They confirm the two recently deceased officials bore the same scent and died similarly to the Minister of Grand Court's family, though the method of poisoning appears different. Meanwhile, Yun Xi disguises herself as a maid and sneaks out of the mansion.
She finds her way to Huaxikou, a shop she discovers is owned by Gu Qishao. She greets him cheerfully, and he gifts her a newly developed cleanser. As Yun Xi departs, Gu Qishao suppresses his feelings, resolving to keep his distance to protect her. Later, Gu Qishao meets Crown Prince Tianmo at Wanyan House.
The Prince boasts about Long Feiye losing his military authority, but Gu Qishao advises caution, warning that acting too hastily could help Long Feiye clear his name. Concurrently, Yun Xi reaches the Yizhuang. When guards refuse her entry, she uses a sedative to knock them out. Upon entering, she is startled by a small, furry pet belonging to Imperial Doctor Gu Beiyue, who is also present. However, it is revealed that Gu Beiyue harbors a secret identity as a descendant of the Shadow Clan.
