Emperor Tianhui's forces found the enemy's camp empty and pursued them, confident of victory. Meanwhile, General Mu and Mu Qingwu confronted Emperor Tianhui, expressing outrage that fifty thousand Xijing soldiers, loyal to the throne, had been turned into gu-abetted men. General Mu declared his bitter disappointment and his inability to be loyal to a tyrant who disregards his soldiers' lives. He commanded Mu Qingwu to withdraw their troops. As they prepared to leave, Eunuch Li and guards appeared, threatening them.

Rather than betray his principles, General Mu committed suicide to apologize for his sin to Heaven and Earth. Mu Qingwu denounced Emperor Tianhui as a brutal tyrant who kills innocent people, predicting he would never gain the kingdom or civilian support. The Mu family army then burst in, rescuing Mu Qingwu. Gu Beiyue, having been pursued by a physically strong gu-abetted man for several days, was gravely injured, his viscera hurt, and his strength exhausted.

His bird led Han Yunxi, who was suspicious of Long Feiye's prolonged absence, to a secluded courtyard. There, she found Gu Beiyue with the gu-abetted man bound to a pillar. Gu Beiyue explained that he had stumbled upon Emperor Tianhui's order to kill all the villagers and had exhausted himself to capture one of the gu-abetted men.

Knowing his life was ebbing, he shared critical information: he and Gu Qishao had previously tried to develop an antidote for gu poison but failed. Believing that a poison could destroy a poison, he gave Han Yunxi the gu-abetted man's blood. Han Yunxi quickly analyzed it, discovering it was a new gu poison formed by the mixture of gu poison and poison plague, similar to the poison in Gu Qishao's body.

She recalled Gu Qishao's earlier consumption of Traceless Grass and deduced its potential. Gu Beiyue then presented some Traceless Grass he had obtained from Yuze, confirming Han Yunxi's theory that burning it would destroy the new gu poison, effectively killing gu-abetted men. With Emperor Tianhui having widely spread poison plague to create his army, this discovery offered a way to defeat his entire troop. With a sense of relief, Gu Beiyue succumbed to his injuries, leaving Han Yunxi grief-stricken.

After being saved by Long Feiye, Mu Qingwu pledged the Mu Army's loyalty to him. Long Feiye then ordered his soldiers to spread the news that he was severely ill and dying, a strategy to make Emperor Tianhui believe that his army was leaderless and defeated. While this was a deceptive tactic, Long Feiye was genuinely ill, his pulse weak and maintaining his life by sheer will.

Han Yunxi informed Long Feiye of Gu Beiyue's passing and the groundbreaking discovery about Traceless Grass. She noted that only Yuze possessed the rare herb. Sensing Han Yunxi's fatigue, Long Feiye gently helped her to rest. Yuze delivered the remaining Traceless Grass to Gu Qishao. He expressed his gratitude but urged her to leave and pursue her own happiness, wanting her to be safe from the impending war.

However, Yuze adamantly refused to depart, declaring her desire to remain by his side, believing that staying with him was the only life she desired. Recognizing the severity of Long Feiye's condition, Han Yunxi decided to take him to Meihai for healing. To further their deception, she instructed Xifeng to continue spreading the news of Long Feiye's severe illness, confident that Emperor Tianhui's suspicious nature would lead him to believe their feigned retreat.

She emphasized that the true nature of Long Feiye's illness must be kept from their own soldiers to maintain morale. Han Yunxi then tasked Xifeng with finding Gu Qishao, instructing him to tell Zhuyu that if Gu Qishao did not meet her in Meihai by the next morning, he would never see her again, knowing this would compel him to come. Upon Gu Qishao's arrival in Meihai, Han Yunxi immediately requested the Seven-Poison Grass, explaining its potency would soon wane.

Gu Qishao refused, citing a promise he had made to Long Feiye and internally vowing not to lose control of his own gu poison, which would compromise his ability to protect Han Yunxi. He then revealed to a horrified Xifeng that Han Yunxi intended to extract her heart blood to save Long Feiye, accusing Xifeng of aiding in her demise.

Han Yunxi steadfastly maintained that if Gu Qishao were released, Long Feiye could not be saved, and she would perish alongside him. Apologizing for putting him in this position, she ordered Xifeng to guard Gu Qishao, leaving Xifeng in a state of deep internal conflict. Tang Li and Ning Jing learned of Han Yunxi's perilous plan to sacrifice herself and desperately pleaded for her to find another way. Han Yunxi insisted there were no other options given the urgency.

She argued that Long Feiye was the only hope against Emperor Tianhui's rampaging gu-abetted army, and saving him was for the sake of the world. Xifeng, now aware of her intentions, expressed his admiration for her compassion but also his anguish at the thought of explaining her sacrifice to Long Feiye. Han Yunxi firmly reiterated that saving Long Feiye was paramount and instructed them all to keep her plan a secret from him.

Meanwhile, Emperor Tianhui received reports of Long Feiye's severe illness and retreat to Meihai. Fearing that Han Yunxi might use her heart blood to save Long Feiye, he ordered his troops to quickly capture the capital. In his sickbed, Long Feiye expressed his profound worries for Han Yunxi, regretting that he had never brought her true happiness and wishing they had never met, so she might have lived a safe life.

Han Yunxi, her eyes welling with tears, tenderly assured him that meeting and loving him was the happiest thing in her life. The Han family received a letter from Han Yunxi, announcing her second wedding ceremony with Long Feiye. She explained the haste of the arrangements, preventing them from attending, but asked for their blessings, painting a picture of a blissful future as a bittersweet farewell. At Meihai, surrounded by friends, Han Yunxi, once again in a wedding dress, awaited.

Long Feiye, gathering his strength, stepped from the sedan and symbolically kicked its door, then took Han Yunxi's hand. He declared her his official wife, belonging only to him, and vowed to stay with her forever, awaiting his victorious return so they could live together in Meihai eternally. Han Yunxi, in turn, made him promise not to leave her first. They shared a final drink, after which Han Yunxi sedated Long Feiye, who drifted into a deep sleep, allowing her to bid him a final, silent farewell.
