Legend of Yun Xi Episode 42 Recap
> Legend of Yun Xi Recap
While dining, Tang Li and Ning Jing were being monitored by Eunuch Li. Ning Jing expressed concern that Tang Li's brother, Long Feiye, was suffering from lovesickness for Han Yunxi. She wondered why Long Feiye hadn't explained to Han Yunxi that he wasn't responsible for the Poison Master's death and worried that Han Yunxi might fall for someone else if her heart was truly broken.
Tang Li, however, reassured her, stating that he had men secretly monitoring Han Yunxi, who was currently preoccupied with developing a cure for Long Feiye's gu poison. Suddenly, a servant reported that Gu Qishao had gone to Imperial Doctor Gu's house to see Han Yunxi. Fearing Gu Qishao would take advantage of the situation, Tang Li immediately left his meal unfinished and rushed there, determined not to let Gu Qishao get what he wanted.
At Imperial Doctor Gu's house, Han Yunxi was diligently preparing medicinal herbs, stating her urgency to find an antidote as Long Feiye didn't have much time left. Gu Qishao offered to assist her. Just then, Tang Li burst in, angrily accusing Han Yunxi of openly flirting with another man while Long Feiye was suffering because of her. He called her promiscuous.
Han Yunxi retorted, declaring that she and Long Feiye were no longer a couple and told him to stop insulting her. Tang Li persisted, revealing that Long Feiye had taken the blame for the Poison Master's death to spare Han Yunxi pain, and that her father was not killed by his brother. Han Yunxi, shocked, demanded to know the true killer, and Tang Li revealed it was Baili Mingxiang.
Unbeknownst to them, Eunuch Li, who had followed Tang Li, had learned Han Yunxi's location. He immediately dispatched men, ordering them to capture Han Yunxi alive, knowing she was Long Feiye's most beloved, and using her would allow them to control him. Upon learning the truth, Han Yunxi was distraught. She realized she had wrongly blamed and hated Long Feiye, believing he had killed her father. Overwhelmed by guilt, she decided she must go to him to seek an explanation.
As she and Gu Qishao attempted to leave, Eunuch Li's men attacked with hidden weapons. Gu Qishao bravely shielded Han Yunxi, taking a hit himself. His blood trail attracted more pursuers as he quickly led Han Yunxi away, while Tang Li handled the remaining attackers. In her haste, Han Yunxi dropped a small bottle. Han Yunxi expressed her gratitude for Gu Qishao's constant efforts to save her, to which he playfully suggested she marry him if she was truly touched.
Meanwhile, Long Feiye learned that Han Yunxi was in danger and ordered his subordinates to search every house in the area where she was last seen, as the attackers had been found and were being pursued by imperial guards. Later, as Han Yunxi tended to Gu Qishao's wound, he leaned against her, expressing his relief that she was safe but fearing he might not survive this time. Seeing Han Yunxi was also injured, Gu Qishao bandaged her wound.
Just then, Long Feiye appeared, witnessing their proximity. Han Yunxi tried to explain, but Long Feiye coldly stated there was nothing to explain, reiterating that since they were divorced, her actions had nothing to do with him, and he pushed her away. He then ordered Xifeng to escort Han Yunxi back to the palace.
However, Han Yunxi refused, insisting on returning to Imperial Doctor Gu's residence, arguing it was safer there because imperial guards were searching the city and her own shadow guards were following them. Xifeng, caught between his loyalty to Long Feiye and Han Yunxi's insistence, eventually conceded, as Han Yunxi asserted her independence, stating she was no longer Princess Consort Qin and her business was no longer Long Feiye's concern.
When Long Feiye later questioned Xifeng about Han Yunxi's whereabouts, Xifeng confirmed she had gone to Imperial Doctor Gu's house as she insisted, and he handed Long Feiye her medical bag. Back at his own residence, Long Feiye gazed at Han Yunxi's medical bag, a conflict of emotions visible on his face. Meanwhile, Han Yunxi, thinking about Long Feiye's ruthlessness that day, involuntarily shed tears. Gu Beiyue thanked Gu Qishao for risking his life to protect Han Yunxi.
Gu Qishao, ever the jester, once again suggested Han Yunxi marry him as a token of gratitude, but then turned serious, stating he fought for the one he loved until the very end and would have no regrets, even if he lost. He then handed Gu Beiyue the Traceless Grass he had retrieved.
Gu Beiyue explained that while the poison plague in the southern border was temporarily suppressed, it would recur within a year if a permanent cure wasn't found, potentially leaving only a fraction of the population alive. He stressed that only the Traceless Grass could thoroughly suppress the poison. Long Feiye realized that Emperor Tianhui's inaction was a calculated wait for the opportune moment.
Gu Beiyue further elaborated on the potent medicinal properties of the Traceless Grass, explaining its specific and time-consuming drying process. Long Feiye emphasized the urgency, deeming it vital to their victory, and entrusted Gu Beiyue with the task, acknowledging Gu Qishao's dangerous feat in acquiring the herb. In the palace, Baili Mingxiang realized that her return to Tianning and her supposed rescue were all part of Emperor Tianhui and Chu Qingge's scheme to use her.
When Eunuch Li came to find her, Baili Mingxiang confronted him, angrily questioning why he had sent assassins after Han Yunxi when Baili Mingxiang herself intended to deal with her. Eunuch Li feigned misunderstanding, claiming he had ordered Han Yunxi to be captured alive for Baili Mingxiang, but Long Feiye's deep affection for Han Yunxi had led him to personally intervene with heavy troops, forcing Eunuch Li's men to create chaos to escape.
Eunuch Li continued to provoke Baili Mingxiang, suggesting only she could lure Han Yunxi out, but Baili Mingxiang confidently declared she had her own plans. Meanwhile, Long Feiye instructed Xifeng to dispatch guards to secure Imperial Doctor Gu's mansion and provide daily updates on Han Yunxi's well-being. He also ordered Xifeng to bring Nanny Zhao from the Prince Mansion to care for Han Yunxi.
Upon Nanny Zhao's arrival at Gu's mansion, Han Yunxi initially declined her services, stating she no longer needed care as she was no longer Princess Consort Qin. Nanny Zhao, however, insisted, citing her unwavering loyalty and Long Feiye's current volatile temper, and presented Han Yunxi with her favorite face washes and clean clothes. Gu Qishao, observing the scene, immediately suspected Nanny Zhao was sent to monitor them.
Nanny Zhao defended Long Feiye, denying any ulterior motives, and admonished Gu Qishao for speaking ill of him. Gu Qishao retorted that Long Feiye was Nanny Zhao's master, not his, and he was free to criticize him. Han Yunxi intervened, asking Nanny Zhao to prepare some light food and scolding Gu Qishao for his rudeness, reminding him of Nanny Zhao's kindness to her in the past.
Gu Qishao then asked Han Yunxi if she had forgiven Long Feiye, to which she replied they were separate matters. Han Yunxi thanked Gu Qishao for saving her, but he brushed it off, stating he desired no thanks and expected no returns. He revealed that since his mother's death, Han Yunxi was the first person to treat him with genuine respect, allowing him to discover his capacity for love.
He assured her not to feel pressured by his actions, adding that if he ever found someone he truly loved and who loved him in return, he would leave her. Han Yunxi, however, gently rejected his romantic advances, explaining that her heart was small and could only hold one person, and it would be unfair to him to turn to him merely because she couldn't be with Long Feiye.
Gu Qishao sadly conceded that his efforts were meaningless if they did not lead to her. Later, during a meal, Ning Jing arrived, expressing her concern for Han Yunxi. She then subtly praised Long Feiye's continued care for Han Yunxi, mentioning his sending of Nanny Zhao, and advised Han Yunxi not to disappoint him, which seemed aimed at Gu Qishao as well. Gu Qishao's injury quickly healed, an effect he attributed to the Traceless Grass.
He cunningly feigned lingering internal pain, hoping to prolong his stay with Han Yunxi. Meanwhile, Xifeng found himself in a dilemma, unsure whether to report Han Yunxi's constant closeness with Gu Qishao to Long Feiye. He feared upsetting Long Feiye but also the consequences if he kept silent and they were to leave together. Nanny Zhao advised him to not only report but to exaggerate the details.
Her reasoning was that Long Feiye, upon hearing exaggerated reports, would become jealous, confront Han Yunxi, and their ensuing argument would clear the air, leading to a reconciliation. Ning Jing, overhearing, concurred, suggesting that if Xifeng couldn't speak the words, he should write or even draw them to ensure Long Feiye quickly brought Han Yunxi back.
Inspired by their advice, Xifeng presented Long Feiye with a drawing titled "Princess Consort's Recent Status," which graphically exaggerated Han Yunxi's daily activities with Gu Qishao. As expected, Long Feiye's jealousy flared. He found Han Yunxi and Gu Qishao walking together, and Gu Qishao, sensing the tension, discreetly excused himself, warning Han Yunxi to tell him if Long Feiye mistreated her. Long Feiye coolly asked Han Yunxi if she was living well at Imperial Doctor Gu's mansion.
Han Yunxi, however, directly confronted him, demanding to know why he had lied about her father's death and why he had taken the blame for Baili Mingxiang. Long Feiye remained silent, stating he had nothing to explain. Heartbroken, Han Yunxi questioned if he truly didn't care if they became strangers. She then tearfully challenged his presence, asking why he had come if her affairs were irrelevant to him, and urged him to leave, after which she tearfully departed.
Later, Tang Li, observing Long Feiye's silent longing for Han Yunxi, suggested he prepare a surprise for her as an apology. Ning Jing, overhearing their conversation, excitedly rushed to Han Yunxi to relay the "good news," believing Long Feiye intended to reconcile. Han Yunxi remained skeptical, questioning if Long Feiye truly needed her, given his silence about her father's death and her father's supposed role in his family's past.
Ning Jing passionately argued that Long Feiye's anger at seeing her with Gu Qishao was proof of his deep affection and that Han Yunxi should seize this opportunity to support him. However, when Tang Li later proposed the surprise idea to Long Feiye, he rejected it, stating that perhaps being with him would only cause her greater harm.
Unaware of this rejection, Han Yunxi, after Ning Jing's encouragement, found herself secretly hoping for reconciliation, vowing to be with him forever if he was willing. Shortly after, Nanny Zhao delivered a letter to Han Yunxi, whose handwriting strikingly resembled Long Feiye's, inviting her to meet at Xuanyuan Temple at dusk. Believing it to be a secret rendezvous, Ning Jing enthusiastically took charge, suggesting they employ their "old way" of evading shadow guards to ensure privacy, especially from Gu Qishao.
She switched places with Han Yunxi, distracting the guards while Han Yunxi slipped away. Han Yunxi successfully eluded her followers and arrived at Xuanyuan Temple, only to find Baili Mingxiang waiting for her, not Long Feiye.
