Guan Xiaodi finds Qin Sheng upset after an argument with Liu Sha and takes him to her boxing club to help him vent his frustrations. Later, at a bar gathering for Liehuo Shendun interns, a very drunk Cui Tianqi declares Liang Dawei her "male god." Noticing Cui Tianqi's feelings, Guan Xiaodi deliberately asks Liang Dawei to take Cui Tianqi home, hoping to set them up.
Zhang Yan and Ma Li observe this, wondering if Guan Xiaodi will later regret her actions. En route, Cui Tianqi confesses her feelings to Liang Dawei, but he rejects her, stating his heart belongs to Guan Xiaodi. Meanwhile, Wang Dafang attempts to reconcile with Zhang Yan, but she firmly refuses and easily fends him off when he tries to use force. Liang Dawei and Guan Xiaodi then escort Zhang Xiaomu to his hometown.
Zhang Xiaomu carries a large sum of cash, as there are no banks in his village, intending to give it to his sick mother. At a supermarket stop, a deliberate distraction leads to Zhang Xiaomu's cash box being stolen. Guan Xiaodi chases the two robbers, successfully retrieving the money, but sustains a knife wound to her arm during the struggle.
Zhang Xiaomu, only concerned with his money, is indifferent to Guan Xiaodi's injury and initially refuses to go home, convinced his family set up the theft. Guan Xiaodi, reminding him that his sister called him and urging him to cherish his mother, persuades him to continue. While Liang Dawei and Guan Xiaodi are on this mission, a distraught Cui Tianqi, upset about their pairing, is assigned to protect Zhou Ying.
When Zhou Ying's tablet is stolen, Cui Tianqi quickly recovers it, impressing Zhou Ying, who asks to become her apprentice. Meanwhile, San Ye, the mastermind behind the earlier theft attempts, has more people ambush Zhang Xiaomu at the hospital, attempting to scam him out of money by claiming it's for his mother's treatment. Liang Dawei intervenes, and San Ye's men flee.
Learning of his mother's late-stage liver cancer, Zhang Xiaomu's mother discharges herself from the hospital to avoid burdening her family. Rushing home, Zhang Xiaomu, Liang Dawei, and Guan Xiaodi are intercepted by San Ye and his men in a final ambush. Liang Dawei and Guan Xiaodi easily overpower the attackers. Liang Dawei stays to await the police, while Guan Xiaodi escorts Zhang Xiaomu home. Tragically, Zhang Xiaomu arrives too late; his mother has passed away.
His sister, resentful of his delayed return and perceived lack of financial support for their mother's treatment, initially bars him from entering the house. Zhang Xiaomu collapses, weeping at the door. Seeing his profound grief, his sister forgives him, and they embrace. Overwhelmed by regret, Zhang Xiaomu contemplates burning his money, but Guan Xiaodi stops him. His sorrow deeply resonates with Guan Xiaodi, reminding her of her own mother, and she steps outside to grieve alone.
