Go Go Squid! Episode 41 (Ending) Recap
> Go Go Squid! Recap
At the entrance of the Asia-Pacific Semifinals venue, Han Shangyan stopped, panting, leading Tong Nian by the hand. The entrance was completely surrounded by a vast number of fans. So, Han Shangyan used his great bluffing skills and loudly told the fans that Tong Nian was his wife, currently six months pregnant, and urgently needed a hospital check-up, asking everyone to make way. Only then did the two get into the car with happy smiles, sweetly.
Before the car even started, Han Shangyan and Tong Nian couldn't help but kiss each other. In the blink of an eye, the car had arrived at the Tong family home. Han Shangyan tried hard to calm his current emotions, and stepped through the Tong family gate with Tong Nian. Additionally, even though she didn't know why Han Shangyan was so nervous, Tong Nian still called Summer doggy to embolden Han Shangyan.
After entering, Tong's father and Tong's mother, having just watched the live broadcast of the Asia-Pacific Semifinals, looked at the champion Han Shangyan with beaming smiles. Under such warm hospitality, it felt like an Olympic champion was visiting their humble home. Riding on the momentum of being a champion, Han Shangyan respectfully performed a deep bow – a 90° bow – to the elderly couple. Tong's father and Tong's mother, sitting on the sofa, were momentarily startled.
However, the subsequent remarks from Han Shangyan reassured Tong's parents. Han Shangyan stated that on this most glorious day, he wanted to share it with Tong Nian, fixing this moment into eternity and making their love forever. That is, Han Shangyan hoped to hold Tong Nian's hand and walk together always, through hardships and into old age. When Tong Nian's parents successively raised questions and expressed reluctance, Tong Nian, who was unaware beforehand, was momentarily speechless.
However, Han Shangyan used a firm tone and determination to convey his current feelings and future reliability to the elderly couple. Han Shangyan bravely proposed that he wanted to marry Tong Nian, right today. Because Tong Nian had given Han Shangyan memories he would never want to lose in a lifetime and had brought him unprecedented happiness in over thirty years, Tong Nian was the wife Han Shangyan had chosen.
For this, Han Shangyan boldly requested the elderly couple to give him Tong Nian's household registration book, so that he would have the qualification to cherish Tong Nian for a lifetime. Finally, after countless instructions from Tong's mother, she hesitantly handed over her precious daughter Tong Nian's household registration book to Han Shangyan. In life, there are not many times one weeps tears of joy, but at this moment, almost everyone sheds tears of happiness.
So, Tong Nian's parents and their daughter and son-in-law hugged each other, feeling the unforgettable significance and joy of this moment of entrustment. After saying goodbye to the elderly couple, Han Shangyan walked out of the Tong family home and carried Tong Nian in a princess carry all the way to the car. Shangyan wanted his beloved girl to enjoy the envious gazes of even passersby on the eve of their marriage.
This action made Tong Nian extremely shy, yet incredibly happy. Love is certainly important, but at this moment, Han Shangyan's heart also carried friendship and dreams. Han Shangyan first took Tong Nian to the K&K club, where he again hugged and kissed Tong Nian, who was about to become his bride, and loudly told the team members, "Your 'sister-in-law's' household registration book is with me!"
Amidst a wave of cheers and excitement, Han Shangyan ran to the second floor to share this earth-shattering good news with his old friends. Wang Hao, Ai Qing, Mi Shaofei, and Ou Qiang were all extremely excited that Han Shangyan, the perpetual bachelor among them, was actually the first to get married. So, this group of buddies clinked glasses. Whether it was alcohol or drinks, it was all about that friendship!
With the magic of love, Han Shangyan pulled himself away from his friends and came to Tong Nian's side. The two waited outside the Civil Affairs Bureau from five o'clock in the morning. While waiting, Han Shangyan remembered that he hadn't reported this to his grandfather yet, so he called the Old Master Han of the Han family in Norway to share the good news.
His grandfather on the other end was overjoyed and vowed to hold five weddings so that Niannian wouldn't be wronged. After hanging up the phone, Shangyan remembered that he should propose by kneeling on one knee and putting the championship ring on Tong Nian, and later replace it with a real ring. Tong Nian looked at the inexperienced Han Shangyan and found him very cute.
She specifically told her future husband that the engagement ring goes on the middle finger, and the proposal ring goes on the ring finger. Life is long, but having one person is enough. In this love, Han Shangyan was well aware of his many shortcomings, such as not being romantic enough or not knowing how to express himself.
But Tong Nian wouldn't ask Han Shangyan to change these things; some matters require self-awareness to show the importance of having done them. Afterwards, Han Shangyan deliberately teased Tong Nian, saying that after they get married, he would still sleep with her even if she were staying in a girls' dormitory.
In fact, Han Shangyan hadn’t even realized it himself—but to make Tong Nian happy, he had unwittingly mastered every trick in the book: sweet talk, playful banter, even silly antics. Finally, to queue up and be the first couple to get married today, Han Shangyan took off his suit jacket, placed it on the ground, and let Tong Nian sit on it to rest.
Tong Nian tacitly lay on Han Shangyan's lap until the doors opened, when they were surrounded and watched enviously by other prospective couples. In this relationship with a significant age gap, both learned how to love each other. Unconsciously, they walked all the way to the Civil Affairs Bureau. It was like a dream, a dream they shared together.
