He Buzui was at the police station giving a statement. She anxiously glanced at the clock, wanting to call Lu Weixun, but the police asked her to wait. Meanwhile, a worried Lu Weixun was knocking on He Buzui's unanswered door, drawing the attention of Lu Linong and Mu Chunfeng. As they considered getting a key card, Lu Weixun's phone rang.
It was He Buzui, who explained that she and Yi Nanke might have found his father's body and were at the police station. She asked if the competition could be delayed, but Lu Weixun, concerned for her safety, told her not to worry about him and that he would proceed. After the call, Lu Weixun confirmed to his father that he would still compete. At the competition venue, the referee questioned the fairness of a one-on-two match.
In response, Lu Linong announced he would withdraw from the final round and observe from the sidelines. The referee then declared the rules for the final match: a blind tasting of a single glass of wine. The contestant who could write down the most detailed information would win. As the match began, Mu Chunfeng quickly tasted the wine and began writing, while Lu Weixun struggled, unable to identify the flavor.
Feeling frustrated, Lu Weixun closed his eyes and was transported back to his childhood. He saw his father explaining that some tastes should never be forgotten, even without a sense of taste. His father taught him that winemaking is a blend of human effort and destiny, describing yeast as a vital organism that can cause natural fermentation.
He stressed that a winery that practices long-term natural fermentation develops its own unique yeast population in the air, imparting a distinct character to its wine. He encouraged young Weixun to keep tasting, promising that one day he would be able to distinguish between thousands of wines and find his own style. They made a pinkie promise to always remember that the yeast they cultivated was unique to their family. This memory gave Lu Weixun his answer.
Meanwhile, He Buzui and Yi Nanke left the police station and ran into Mr. Wan, who offered them a ride. Yi Nanke politely declined and drove He Buzui himself. In the car, she explained that Mr. Wan was her father's old partner who helped sell the winery for her medical bills, a series of events Yi Nanke found too coincidental. Back at the competition, Lu Weixun finally wrote down his answer.
The referee announced that while Lu Weixun had identified a unique taste that Mu Chunfeng missed, Mu Chunfeng had provided far more comprehensive details about the wine. With Lu Weixun offering only a single piece of information, Mu Chunfeng was declared the winner of the round. Consequently, Lu Linong and Mu Chunfeng won the overall competition.
Mu Chunfeng graciously acknowledged Lu Weixun as a formidable opponent, impressed that he could discern a flavor that he himself could not, even without his sense of taste. Lu Weixun accepted his defeat, confident that Mu Chunfeng would manage Buck Winery well. He Buzui rushed to the venue, finding only Lu Weixun. He confirmed he had lost but felt it wasn't a total loss.
He Buzui said her day was similar, as she had handed over all evidence to the police. Seeing her dejection, Lu Weixun comforted her, saying that wins and losses are a part of life and her safe return was all that mattered. He told her he would be meeting his father that night and gently pulled her into a comforting embrace.
Later, after Mi Ya learned from He Buzui that Yi Nanke had found his father's wedding ring, she found him at a bar. As they talked, Yi Nanke received a call from Officer Liu, who summoned him to the station immediately. He and Mi Ya left together. That evening, Lu Weixun had a rare dinner with his father.
Lu Weixun was prepared to accept the consequences of his loss, but Lu Linong surprised him by telling him to pursue what he truly wanted. The moment brought back painful memories of Lu Weixun's mother's death, her waiting for his father, and his father's late arrival at her funeral. Looking across the table, Lu Weixun asked his father if he had truly loved his mother. Lu Linong affirmed she was the love of his life.
Weixun then questioned why he had let her winery's vines wither and sold it. Lu Linong confessed that he, too, had things he couldn't face. He explained that after she died, managing the winery, which she had insisted remain non-commercial, was too difficult and costly. He felt it was better to transfer it to someone who could care for it properly.
He told Lu Weixun that he was now free, but freedom comes with a price he must be willing to bear. Lu Weixun agreed. His father then asked if he was dating the daughter from He's Wine Distillery, remarking that Weixun's mother had also loved their Pear Blossom wine. For the first time in a long while, Lu Weixun felt at peace with his father.
Though the wine was still tasteless to him, he felt happy, realizing he had finally grown up. In his office, Mr. Wan was drinking heavily when his subordinate reported that police had unearthed a body at Warehouse No. 9, which Yi Nanke identified as his father, Yi Jianguo, who had been missing for twenty years. Mr. Wan feigned surprise and ordered a halt to all actions concerning Yi Nanke and He Buzui.
He then inquired about someone named "Zeze," instructing his subordinate to watch him closely. At their home, Lu Weixun and He Buzui were playing chess when an ardent fan arrived and tried to live-stream their visit. Lu Weixun stopped them, explaining his home was a private space. The fan had come to offer support after his loss, but Lu Weixun politely ushered them out by saying he needed to take his girlfriend shopping. Just then, Mu Chunfeng appeared.
He announced he was returning to the winery and acknowledged Lu Weixun as a worthy opponent. He asked about Lu Weixun's future, considering he had lost his sense of taste and would not be returning to the Lu Group. Lu Weixun calmly replied that he felt he had gained more than he had lost. Later, as He Buzui was outside, she was intercepted by a man who informed her that Lu Linong wished to see her.
