He Buzui, trying to help Lu Weixun through his difficulties, sought out Brother De to reclaim two million yuan she had given him, but Brother De unceremoniously dismissed her. This scene was witnessed by a man He Buzui knew as Beidao, who asked if she truly had to go through with it. He Buzui replied that some things, if left undone, would leave her unsettled.
The man cryptically agreed, saying some things indeed must be done, or one would never feel at ease. Meanwhile, Mr. Ma informed Lu Weixun about the dire financial situation. Muunas Winery had a staggering seventy percent return rate this month, and some long-standing customers seemed intent on terminating their cooperation for the latter half of the year. Additionally, the newly brewed wine this year had generated no revenue, making it difficult to sustain the operation of Rose Winery.
Lu Weixun inquired how long, at worst, they could continue operating both wineries simultaneously. Mr. Ma estimated half a year. Lu Weixun promised to handle the financial matters. Mr. Ma also mentioned that a delegate from WSA would arrive in two weeks and asked if any preparations were needed. Lu Weixun stated there was no need, and everything should proceed as normal.
Lu Weixun took a sip of wine and discovered his sense of taste had vanished again, a sign that He Buzui’s taste had returned. A smile appeared on his face as he realized he could now go to her. The man He Buzui knew as Beidao brought her back to the bar. The bartender, Bai, mixed them two drinks before leaving for the night.
The man asked He Buzui if she liked Lu Weixun, to which she responded that she didn't know. He observed that she treated Lu Weixun differently, but He Buzui pointed out she had known him longer. He countered that affection has nothing to do with how long people have known each other. He then asked her to retrieve a bottle of vodka from the warehouse, intending to mix her a new wine.
As He Buzui walked away, his gaze turned dark, fixated on her as if she were prey about to fall into a trap. He silently reflected on his younger brother's unnatural death and how the person responsible was living a happy life, while his own brother's true affections were cast aside. He also recalled how their father had been unjustly framed and disappeared when they were small children.
Elsewhere, Mi Ya remembered a conversation with the man He Buzui knew as Beidao and searched online for past news about "twin brother revenge." She found a report about a younger brother assaulting the boss of his elder brother's workplace before being taken away by the police. She then muttered the names Yi Nanke, Yi Beidao, and He Buzui, before suddenly grasping a connection. She grabbed her bag and hastily left.
Lu Weixun drove to find He Buzui, calling her phone along the way, but received no answer. He then called Hao Yong, who told him He Buzui was working at the bar and wouldn't be back until late. At the bar, He Buzui was searching for vodka in the warehouse when the lights suddenly went out. She immediately crouched down, clutching her head in distress, pleading for the lights to be turned on.
The man He Buzui knew as Beidao walked in and closed the door. He Buzui asked who was there, and he simply replied, "Me." She cried out for her senior, asking why the lights were off. He coldly stated he was not her senior. He Buzui, now terrified, tearfully begged him to turn on the lights, retreating backward while repeatedly asking who he was and what he wanted.
The man approached her, roughly pulled her up, and choked her by the neck. As He Buzui weakly called out Yi Beidao's name, the man's grip faltered. He remembered a promise he had made to his elder brother not to hurt her, and Mi Ya's words that perhaps his brother wouldn't want him to live a life burdened by hatred. Releasing his hold, He Buzui collapsed to the floor.
At that moment, Lu Weixun arrived, kicked open the door, and upon seeing the scene, became enraged. He rushed forward, punched the man, then picked up He Buzui and walked out. Mi Ya arrived at the bar by taxi and asked the man if he was alright. He confessed he was useless and couldn't go through with it.
Mi Ya then revealed his true identity, stating that the one who died suddenly from overwork was his elder brother and calling him by his real name, Yi Nanke. Yi Nanke then recounted his past to Mi Ya. He spoke of a once happy home with his father, mother, and elder brother, where happiness was taking rides on the merry-go-round and receiving secret candies from his dad.
This happiness shattered when his father disappeared, widely rumored to have absconded with funds, though police found no evidence. A few days later, He Wangyou visited, informing his mother that his father would never return. His mother, distraught, rejected He Wangyou's money, crying for her husband to be returned and accusing He Wangyou of being a murderer.
As their family faced increasing hardship, he and his elder brother, Yi Beidao, took turns attending school, even adopting the same haircut to maintain the deception. Yi Nanke, being left-handed, learned to write with his right hand to avoid suspicion. He gradually became more like Yi Beidao, often being called by his brother's name, sometimes even by his mother. It was during this time that He Buzui appeared at school.
As the daughter of his enemy, Yi Nanke instantly disliked her. He was the one who spread rumors that He Buzui's father's winery had caused deaths. While He Buzui was bullied by other students, Yi Nanke would secretly observe, finding amusement in her plight. However, his brother, Yi Beidao, intervened and rescued her, even draping his coat over her. This led to a fierce argument between the brothers.
Yi Beidao insisted that He Buzui should not be blamed for her father's actions, and that she had already suffered. He promised Yi Nanke he would no longer help her but made Yi Nanke promise not to bully her either. Mi Ya suggested that it was actually Yi Beidao who loved He Buzui.
Yi Nanke confirmed that after that incident, his brother began to avoid He Buzui, and Yi Nanke himself stopped bullying her, as she was already ostracized by the whole school. He bitterly stated that He Buzui became his brother's doom. Yi Beidao worked tirelessly, not only to save money for Yi Nanke's tuition and their mother's living expenses but also to fund He Buzui's taste treatment. He even planned to confess his feelings to her on her birthday.
However, the excessive labor cost Yi Beidao his life. Yi Nanke, overwhelmed by grief, felt that he, Yi Nanke, should have been the one to die. From that day on, he lived under the identity of Yi Beidao. Yet, he believed he could never truly become Yi Beidao, seeing themselves as two sides of a coin: Yi Beidao was the light, while he was the darkness. Mi Ya assured Yi Nanke that both he and his brother were good people.
She pointed out that he had indeed let He Buzui go. Mi Ya stated he was merely lost, unsure what to do besides seek revenge. She questioned if such an unforgiving vendetta was worth sacrificing the rest of his life. Yi Nanke retorted, asking what right she had to dictate his life. Mi Ya stood up, declaring that she would stop interfering and urged him to think carefully before leaving.
By the riverside, He Buzui was distraught, unable to comprehend why the senior who once bravely saved her from ruffians seven years ago now wanted to kill her. Lu Weixun handed her a warm drink, asking if she was alright and if she was hurt. He Buzui shook her head, tearfully stating it was too late and she needed to go home, or her father would worry.
Lu Weixun gently wiped her tears with a tissue, suggesting her father would worry even more if she went home in her current state. He thanked her for trying to borrow money from Brother De for him. Lu Weixun then called He Buzui's father, fabricating a story that He Buzui was working late and would stay at the company for the night. Lu Weixun brought He Buzui back to his home. Traumatized, He Buzui slept restlessly.
Lu Weixun stayed by her bedside, watching over her. The next morning, he busied himself frying eggs and toasting bread. He quietly entered He Buzui's room, but accidentally made a sound while placing the plate on her nightstand. He Buzui opened her eyes and remarked that he was doing a good deed but acting like a thief. Lu Weixun jokingly retorted that her sleeping posture was simply too ugly to bear looking at.
He Buzui acknowledged she might be ugly, but Lu Weixun quickly asserted that no one, not even herself, could call her ugly except for him. He Buzui glanced at the food and thanked him for the "love breakfast," though she claimed not to be hungry. Lu Weixun immediately denied making it for her, explaining he couldn't eat it himself and didn't want to waste it.
He Buzui said she knew he wouldn't specially cook for her, to which Lu Weixun hastily interjected, saying he had indeed cooked it specially for her. Hearing his contradictory statements, He Buzui understood his genuine care. She got up, finished the entire breakfast, and took the empty plate downstairs. She told Lu Weixun the breakfast was delicious. Lu Weixun, pleased, told her to rest well at home as he had to go out.
