Sangsang and Ning Que’s carriage arrived to a scene where thousands of crows circled above. As Sangsang stepped down, the Badlanders knelt in reverence. Xiong Chumo, Ye Hongyu, Cheng Lixue, Luo Kedi, and other cultivators from various nations were stunned, recognizing her as the Daughter of Lord of the Deceased. Ning Que, using his Demonic Cult skills, made himself invisible and launched a fierce attack on the opposing forces.

West Shrine cavalry fell from their horses as Ning Que moved swiftly through the mountainous terrain, making it impossible to pinpoint his location. To force Ning Que to reveal himself, Xiong Chumo attacked Sangsang with his power. Ning Que immediately appeared to shield Sangsang, deflecting Xiong Chumo’s power with a divine talisman. Xiong Chumo, disappointed in Ning Que’s perceived weakness, dismissed him as a nobody and continued to chant about the enduring light and righteous path.

As Sangsang's internal coldness intensified, causing her to cough uncontrollably, Ning Que held her tightly, urging her to hold on, reminding her of their struggles to survive. Enraged by the injustice of being targeted by the world, Sangsang cried out, unleashing a storm of dark clouds, strong winds, and flying sand. Ning Que was thrown far back by her power, and the sky turned ominously dark, making everyone fear the arrival of the ever night.

Sangsang, feeling incredibly powerful yet unhappy, eventually reined in her abilities, and the sky instantly returned to clear. She lamented that no one would like her anymore, to which Ning Que assured her of his unwavering affection, saying his love for her remained unchanged. Suddenly, Xiong Chumo reappeared, brandishing his staff to summon a massive dragon that lunged at Sangsang.

Ning Que bravely rushed to embrace the dragon, but its overwhelming power slammed him heavily to the ground amidst swirling sands and the dragon's chaotic energy. Sensing Ning Que's predicament, the Sage instantly appeared. The dragon spewed a fiery breath at him, but the Sage called for Sword Saint Liu Bai’s sword. Liu Bai, sensing his sword being taken, telepathically commented that even the Sage should give notice when borrowing.

The Sage brushed this aside, stating that a Sword Saint like Liu Bai wasn't a cheapskate. Wielding the “sword of the world,” the Sage fought the dragon, and after several intense exchanges, both the Sage and the dragon vanished. Xiong Chumo secretly rejoiced, believing that the Sage's intervention to protect the Daughter of Lord of the Deceased would unite everyone against him, providing a perfect pretext for conquering Tang State.

Ning Que regained consciousness in a moving carriage, seeing the Sage beside him. Disoriented, Ning Que questioned if he was dreaming or alive, but the Sage assured him that they were both alive and told him to focus on living. Ning Que immediately asked about Sangsang, concerned if she was truly the Daughter of Lord of the Deceased.

The Sage firmly stated that Sangsang was just Sangsang, and that he had suppressed the Lord of the Deceased’s mark by injecting the Brilliance of Haotian and the "power of the world" into her while slaying the dragon. When Ning Que asked what the "power of the world" was, the Sage declared that he himself was the human world, and his power was its power.

A chess piece fell from Sangsang’s hand, and Ning Que picked it up, recalling Master Qi Shan's words about it, but the Sage simply announced it was time to eat. Ning Que wondered where they could find food in such a desolate place and expressed concern for Tang State. The Sage revealed he had taken the Tang people and the Badlanders to a safe location.

He playfully chided Ning Que for asking about his wife, Tang State, and the Badlanders before asking about him. Just then, Sangsang emerged from the carriage, her expression cold and a faint, chilling smile on her face. Seeing this, the Sage quickly instructed Ning Que to get back in the carriage, urging them to leave.

Meanwhile, Luo Kedi reported frequent Tang army movements to Long Qing, who declared that the war had already begun the moment the Sage saved the Daughter of Lord of the Deceased. He believed West Shrine’s allied forces, despite their numerical advantage, were disunited and no match for Tang’s disciplined army unless the Golden Horde joined.

Confidently, Long Qing stated that while Wu Zhu Chanyu might lack the courage to fight, he did, and promptly sent a signal flare to summon the Golden Horde’s troops. In the Tang capital, Ma Shixiang reported to King Li Zhongyi that West Shrine had launched an undeclared attack on the northern army's right flank. King Li Zhongyi was confident in General Xian Zhilang's ability to defend.

However, Ma Shixiang informed him that a thousand elite horsemen from the Golden Horde, led by Prince Long Qing, had unexpectedly attacked from behind, blocking the Tang army’s retreat and leaving them vulnerable. If reinforcements didn’t arrive within a day, the entire army could be annihilated. Despite the danger, King Li Zhongyi immediately decided to personally lead eight hundred heavy cavalry from Helan City to reinforce his troops, arguing that only a king could inspire the morale needed for victory.

Though Ma Shixiang and other generals pleaded with him not to risk his life, the King’s resolve was firm. Li Zhongyi led his troops out of the city as Xia Tian and Li Hupo watched from the city wall. Li Hupo repeatedly called out to his father, but King Li Zhongyi never looked back. Xia Tian explained that a king must appear strong and unburdened, ready to face death without hesitation, to inspire his people.

Back with the Sage, Ning Que prepared roasted mutton, but the Sage found it bland and unappetizing. Ning Que offered Sangsang a bowl of mutton soup, but she angrily spilled it. Ning Que was worried about Sangsang, but the Sage, still dissatisfied with the food, decided it was time to move on to a new location. The Sage then explained the universal law of "Tian," which is not the sky but an omnipresent rule governing everything.

He described Tian as having desires, just like humans, and that it "eats" to sustain itself. Ning Que was horrified at the implication that Tian consumed people, particularly powerful cultivators, who were its "delicacies." Sangsang then remarked that the Sage himself was "surely the most delicious delicacy in the world," prompting the Sage to leave in a huff.

Confused, Ning Que pursued the Sage, asking how one could avoid being eaten by Tian and questioning if the sun and the entire world were fake, even Sangsang. Sangsang interjected, stopping their argument, and asked where they were going next. The Sage replied, "The Arctic Burning Sea," and casually reminded Sangsang that she liked peony fish. Ning Que then urged their mount, Blacky, to depart. A few days later, Xia Tian and Li Hupo waited anxiously on the city wall. Finally, King Li Zhongyi and Ma Shixiang returned, but the King was visibly exhausted and gravely wounded. Li Hupo expressed concern, but his father assured him he was just tired.
