Police officers concluded their investigation into Yi Dongdong, clarifying the previous misunderstanding and praising his courageous actions. His father, Yi Shengli, however, expressed concern about his son's secrecy, remarking, "Now this kid is big, his wings are hard, he doesn't tell parents anything." Meanwhile, a loud argument at Lin Jiahao’s home drew curious neighbors.

Liang Yuanchao, with a bruised face, presented a photo to the crowd, as Lin Jiahao accused him of improper behavior, lamenting, "Lonely men and women, hugging hugging, how shameful it is. . . They also took photos as a souvenir!" Liang Yuanchao quickly defended himself, explaining that he was simply being taught a popular dance step by a Macau client at a business dinner, insisting everyone was present and the interaction lasted less than five minutes.

Chen Lili, however, scoffed at his defense. When asked to mediate, Grandma Zeng supported Liang Yuanchao, explaining that physical contact is inherent to ballroom dancing and a public photo doesn't necessarily imply infidelity. Sun Benyan added that if Liang Yuanchao truly had something to hide, the photo wouldn't have reached Lin Jiahao's hands. Chen Lili, surprised by his insight, questioned, "Why are you so experienced?" Sun Benyan awkwardly responded that he was merely guessing.

To diffuse the situation, Ma Yingjun suggested the men take Liang Yuanchao out, while the women stayed with Lin Jiahao. At school, the story of Yi Dongdong's late-night underwear escapade had spread, embarrassing him greatly. He confronted Sun Falcon, who admitted to sharing the story with Liang Xiaobao, claiming they had both sworn to secrecy. However, Liang Xiaobao then confessed to telling Zeng Hao, who in turn told her brother, Zeng Xing.

Liang Xiaobao expressed disbelief that Yi Dongdong had saved Ou Xiaojian, the notorious "Big Brother" of Mayang Street. Yi Dongdong, still unaware of the identity of the man he saved, pleaded with Ma Xiaoxiao not to misunderstand him, asserting, "I'm not that kind of naked ass, hooligans running around. I am a good man who is courageous."

Ma Xiaoxiao thanked him on Ou Xiaojian's behalf and took an item Yi Dongdong had found on the injured man, promising to return it. Back in the neighborhood, Aunt Niu brought Lin Jiahao honey-flavored noodles to calm her nerves, but Chen Lili continued to fuel her anger, implying Liang Yuanchao was indeed having an affair. Fang Jie then intervened, advising Lin Jiahao to focus on her appearance as a key to self-confidence.

Aunt Niu agreed, and the women decided to treat themselves to a day out, shopping for new clothes and getting fresh hairstyles. Lin Jiahao, for instance, chose a stylish haircut. As Ma Xiaoxiao walked, her thoughts drifted to Ou Xiaojian's past declaration that he would become a good policeman, to prove that his family was not weak.

Back home, Ma Xiaoxiao became enraged when she found Ma Dada had used her cherished copy of "A Tale of Two Cities" as a mat, scratching its cover. Ma Dada argued it was still readable, prompting Ma Xiaoxiao to retaliate by threatening to tear Ma Dada’s poster. Their argument was cut short when their mother reminded them it was Ma Yingjun’s birthday and she still needed to pick up his cake. Ma Xiaoxiao volunteered to get it.

Chen Lili, proudly showing off her new bat-wing shirt, admitted to Sun Falcon that she had spent a fortune and then bribed him with a trendy pair of "radish pants" to keep the expenditure a secret from his father. Meanwhile, while picking up the birthday cake, Ma Xiaoxiao encountered Grandma Ou, who had twisted her ankle.

Grandma Ou was trying to deliver fish soup, which she had spent all day simmering, to Ou Xiaojian in the hospital, fearing it would spoil. Ma Xiaoxiao offered to deliver the soup, and Grandma Ou gratefully accepted, asking her not to mention her injury to Ou Xiaojian. However, at the hospital, Ma Xiaoxiao learned from a nurse that Ou Xiaojian, despite suffering severe internal bleeding, had left his room without permission.

Ou Xiaojian soon returned with Big Fat, who was with him on his unauthorized outing. Big Fat confirmed Ou Xiaojian went to deal with a gang problem, asserting that the "Ma Pi gang" wouldn't bother them again. When a nurse informed them that a girl with long hair had brought the fish soup, Ou Xiaojian eagerly snatched it from Big Fat, happily consuming it himself.

Elsewhere, Yi Dongdong, who had gone to pick up steamed cakes, saw Ma Xiaoxiao looking troubled and realized she had forgotten the cake. He discreetly followed her home, carrying the forgotten cake, feeling content in his role as her silent protector. He later presented the cake to Ma Dada, claiming Ma Xiaoxiao asked him to. That evening, Liang Yuanchao, Sun Benyan, and Ma Yingjun gathered for drinks, complaining about their wives and the constant marital strife.

Ma Yingjun, celebrating his birthday, half-jokingly confessed to being broke and expecting his family to have forgotten. To his surprise, he returned home to a birthday celebration. Liang Yuanchao, however, penned a heartfelt letter to Lin Jiahao, expressing his need for space and a break from their ceaseless arguments, desiring more romance in life beyond daily chores. He then quietly left, hoping time would provide answers. Ma Xiaoxiao’s thoughts drifted back to a childhood memory with Ou Xiaojian.

She remembered a school assembly where they were both honored as "learning models." Ou Xiaojian had been eagerly anticipating his father's return from prison, telling Ma Xiaoxiao that Grandma Ou was preparing a celebratory feast. However, his father never arrived. Instead, Sun Benyan and Ma Yingjun returned from their search near the prison with only a box containing his father's belongings, informing a distraught Grandma Ou that the police were still salvaging his father's body from the Pearl River.

This tragedy profoundly affected Ou Xiaojian. Ma Xiaoxiao recalled how Ou Xiaojian later told his teacher he intended to abandon high school for police academy. Despite his teacher’s attempts to persuade him to continue his studies, Ou Xiaojian was resolute, explaining to Ma Xiaoxiao that enrolling in police academy would allow him to quickly earn money and support his ailing grandmother. He declared, "I will be a good policeman in the future. This is what I want to do.

I will let everyone know. That man is cowardly and useless, it doesn't mean our Ou family, they are all cowards." When Ma Xiaoxiao inadvertently mentioned his father, Ou Xiaojian retorted sharply, "He is not my father. Don't mention him to me again." Ma Xiaoxiao apologized and then assured him, "Whatever decision you make, I support it." She then gifted him her favorite book, "A Tale of Two Cities," hoping its inspiring message would also bring him strength. Ou Xiaojian, in turn, solemnly promised her, "Xiaoxiao, I will never cheat you."
