> Dear Mayang Street Recap

Mayang Street was abuzz with excitement as Shuangcheng International offered surprisingly high compensation for property demolition. Many residents eagerly queued up to sign contracts, with Sun Falcon's family already having received their payment. Aunt Niu, who had long wished for a new home with modern amenities like a private toilet, and Ma Yingjun were also keen to sign. However, Yi Dongdong felt uneasy about the unusually generous offer, suspecting foul play.

He tried to persuade Ma Yingjun and Aunt Niu to hold off, suggesting they wait for Ma Xiaoxiao to return and offer advice. Aunt Niu dismissed his concerns, noting that other families, like Aunt Lily's, had already received their funds without issue. Even Yi Dongdong's own mother, Hao Pushi, was eager to sign. She envisioned using the compensation, combined with Yi Shengli's earnings, to buy a house in Shenzhen so the whole family could finally reunite.

Yi Dongdong then publicly appealed to the residents waiting in line, cautioning them against signing too quickly, calling the compensation "very inconsistent with market logic" and "business rules." He warned of potential "accidents," but the residents grew impatient, accusing him of jealousy and trying to sabotage their good fortune. Hao Pushi eventually pulled him away, telling him to stop arguing. Unconvinced, Yi Dongdong sought out Ou Xiaojian, who was revealed to be in charge of the Shuangcheng International project.

Ou Xiaojian had just finished a meeting with Accountant Wang, stressing the importance of ensuring "every person in Mayang Street" received their compensation smoothly and without error. Yi Dongdong asked for reassurance that there were truly no underlying problems with the demolition project or the contract. Ou Xiaojian emphatically promised, "I, Ou Xiaojian, will never do anything that harms the residents of Mayang Street." He explained his only desire was for the long-time residents to "get the best compensation."

He then requested Yi Dongdong not to disclose his role with Shuangcheng International to others. Yi Dongdong agreed to keep his personal affairs private but stated he would "keep an eye on all matters within my scope of work." In another part of the street, Zeng Hao confided in Ma Xiaoxiao about her strained relationship with Lin Jiahao, lamenting that "Xiao Bao's mother has been targeting me everywhere. It seems that everything I do is wrong."

Ma Xiaoxiao, recalling her own grandmother's past resentment towards her mother for having only daughters, suggested that Lin Jiahao might feel that Liang Xiaobao was no longer by her side because of Zeng Hao. Zeng Hao acknowledged Lin Jiahao's deep affection for her son and agreed to try and empathize with her mother-in-law's feelings, especially as Lin Jiahao was getting older and her son was not around.

Later, at the demolition office, Li Yunlai created a scene, refusing to sign the demolition contract. He claimed legal ownership of the property after Zeng Zhenmei's passing and demanded that Liang Yuanchao and Zeng Hao buy him a new apartment in the city, not just his share of the compensation, to ensure he had a place to live in his old age as he was now alone. Neighbors grew agitated, fearing he would halt the entire project.

Yi Dongdong tried to mediate, but Li Yunlai was unyielding. Despite the initial shock and anger, Liang Yuanchao eventually agreed to Li Yunlai's demand. Yi Dongdong then visited Ma Xiaoxiao to bid her farewell. He explained that his entire family was relocating to Shenzhen for good, as his mother wanted an elevator apartment with a private bathroom and to be closer to Yi Shengli and Yi Nannan.

As they sat overlooking the familiar street, Ma Xiaoxiao sadly observed that soon, "only this big banyan tree is still guarding Mayang Street." She expressed hope that the tree "will definitely remember us. . . and everyone who has lived in Mayang Street." Meanwhile, Ma Xiaoxiao had joined the legal team of Xingshi Law Firm and was now representing Shuangcheng International. While reviewing her mother's demolition contract, she discovered inconsistencies with other documents she had handled.

She specifically noted that the contract didn't include a clear payment date for the second half of the compensation. Concerned, she questioned Sun Falcon, whose family was among the first to sign and had received full compensation. Sun Falcon revealed that the second batch of contracts, like Ma Xiaoxiao's mother's, had changed project managers and content, resulting in later signees not receiving their full compensation.

Under pressure, Sun Falcon admitted that "It's Brother Xiao Jian," confirming Ou Xiaojian's involvement with Shuangcheng International. Driven by this revelation, Ma Xiaoxiao hurried to Shuangcheng International. At the same time, Ou Xiaojian was confronting An Ye, who had taken over the project from him. Ou Xiaojian had learned that the company lacked "follow-up funds" for the remaining compensation, with the accounts transferred to An Ye's finance department under "Fang's general meaning."

Ou Xiaojian demanded the money, questioning the company's financial status and even hinting at unlaundered funds from seven years prior. An Ye stated that Fang had given him full authority over the Mayang Street project and that Ou Xiaojian "doesn't have to worry about it." An Ye brought up his past attempt to recruit Ou Xiaojian and the accidental death of Ou Xiaojian's grandma due to Antu, implying that Ou Xiaojian had then orchestrated Antu's death as revenge.

He directly questioned if Ou Xiaojian was a police officer. Ou Xiaojian, though denying it, conceded there were things he couldn't explain but asked An Ye to trust him. An Ye, however, gloated, warning Ou Xiaojian that he was "done this time" and would be sent to Hong Kong to meet Fang, cautioning him against "play[ing] tricks on the road, otherwise you will die faster."

As Ou Xiaojian was forcibly escorted into a car, Ma Xiaoxiao stepped out of the elevator. Ou Xiaojian saw her but was restrained by the men in the car, unable to reach her. This fleeting moment of proximity was their last; they never saw each other again, and Ou Xiaojian disappeared from their lives. Back at Shuangcheng International, Yi Dongdong arrived to discuss the contract issues, unaware of Ou Xiaojian's departure.

An Ye, introducing himself as Ou Xiaojian's replacement, confidently asserted the contracts were legally sound. He then directed Ma Xiaoxiao, who was part of Shuangcheng International's legal team, to address Yi Dongdong's concerns. Ma Xiaoxiao, visibly surprised to see Yi Dongdong, affirmed the contracts' legality. Yi Dongdong, dismayed, realized Ma Xiaoxiao was now representing the company responsible for the issues. He left frustrated, believing Ou Xiaojian and An Ye were colluding.

He later faced a crowd of angry Mayang Street residents who had not received their full compensation, some having received nothing due to lacking property certificates. They regretted not heeding his earlier warnings. Yi Dongdong promised to fight for their justice through legal channels, acknowledging it would be a "protracted war." Ma Xiaoxiao's legal team began reviewing Shuangcheng International's financial records, while An Ye assured them funds from their Hong Kong branch were being processed.

Despite the professional reassurance, Yi Dongdong remained despondent, consoled by Hao Pushi, who reminded him that he had tried to warn everyone. She urged him to look forward to their new life in Shenzhen, where family unity was paramount. As Ma Xiaoxiao reviewed a neighbor's housing contract photocopy, she received an urgent call from Zeng Hao on her phone: "Something happened in Mayang Street. . . Uncle Li wants to burn Little Hong Kong."
