After Sun Falcon plunged from a two-meter platform while escaping the police, he suffered a torn ankle ligament, which made him unable to walk. Yi Dongdong quickly carried him to the hospital. Sun Falcon cried out in pain, asking if his leg was broken, but Yi Dongdong reassured him it wasn't.

At the hospital, the doctor informed his family that while there were no major problems, Sun Falcon's torn ligament meant he lost his chance at a guaranteed spot in the Sports College and, with it, his dream of becoming an athlete. His spirits plummeted, and he often sat by himself, watching other athletes and feeling a deep sadness.

When Ma Dada tried to cheer him up, he snapped at her, declaring he was "a loser who can't go to college" and didn't need concern. He felt that "everyone in the world thinks I'm a loser" and expressed profound despair over not being able to play basketball. Yi Dongdong, burdened by guilt, went to the video hall alone.

He believed the illegal films shown there were to blame for the police raid and Sun Falcon's injury, which led to his lost future. He angrily confronted the owner, who dismissed his concerns, saying Sun Falcon injured himself by jumping and it was "none of our business." In a fit of rage, Yi Dongdong tore down the video hall's sign and fled, chased by the staff. Luckily, Ou Xiaojian, passing by on his motorcycle, intervened and helped Yi Dongdong escape.

Later, Yi Dongdong confided in Ou Xiaojian, feeling that he was responsible for Sun Falcon's predicament. He believed if he had been more resolute in not letting him come to the video hall or had managed to catch Sun Falcon when he jumped, the injury wouldn't have happened. Ou Xiaojian offered solace, reminding Yi Dongdong that he once saved his life, and emphasizing that "many accidental things will happen in life," and "every choice will lead to different results."

He urged Yi Dongdong to "believe in yourself," "not do things you regret," and to "go ahead bravely," taking control of his own future. Yi Dongdong reflected on Ou Xiaojian's words, finding comfort in the idea that the future was in his hands. He noted that it was the first time Ou Xiaojian had spoken so much to him, and he appreciated the long conversation.

Ma Dada, still worried about Sun Falcon, shared her concerns with Ma Xiaoxiao, observing that despite his physical size, Sun Falcon was very fragile emotionally. She mentioned how he used to accompany her to film sets and she hated to see him so sad. Ma Xiaoxiao suggested that Sun Falcon needed time to process his pain and heal. Meanwhile, Chen Lili, Sun Falcon's mother, tried to cope by telling herself, "The most important thing is that people are fine."

She bought nutritious food for him, but Sun Falcon was irritable, demanded money, and rushed out into the rain, upsetting Chen Lili. Hao Pushi came to offer an umbrella and advised Chen Lili to give her son some space. Sun Falcon, still wallowing in his despair, went to a pool hall where he was verbally abused by a group of hooligans, who called him a "dead cripple."

Ou Xiaojian appeared and intervened, asserting that Sun Falcon was his "brother" and warning the hooligans to leave. Observing Sun Falcon's self-pity, Ou Xiaojian confronted him about not studying or wanting to do anything. When Sun Falcon said he would just "mix" instead, Ou Xiaojian questioned how he planned to do that with a broken leg or a broken mind.

He then offered Sun Falcon a chance to work at his repair shop that evening, seemingly offering him a new path. When Sun Falcon arrived at the repair shop, Ou Xiaojian sternly questioned his commitment to "mix society," explaining that it's a harsh world where one must "either mix to the best or get beaten." Sun Falcon, though still on crutches, claimed to have strength, asserting his leg would heal, and he wasn't afraid of a fight.

Just then, a group of men arrived, seemingly looking for trouble with Ou Xiaojian. A staged confrontation escalated into a fight, with Ou Xiaojian's associate, Big Fat, appearing to get injured. Witnessing the violence, Sun Falcon was terrified and fled, unaware that the entire scene was orchestrated by Ou Xiaojian. Ou Xiaojian found the shaken Sun Falcon and had a heart-to-heart talk with him.

Sun Falcon admitted he was scared and felt "shameless" and "worthless" since his special skills were gone, and he couldn't find his own value. He confessed he couldn't stand the pity or mockery in others' eyes. Ou Xiaojian gently but firmly reminded him that "whether you can get into college or not, you have to try your best to know." He advised Sun Falcon that once he made a decision, he "must stick to it."

Inspired by Ou Xiaojian's words, Sun Falcon returned home with renewed determination. The next day, Sun Falcon's demeanor had completely changed. He woke up early, began studying diligently for the college entrance examination, and even encouraged his friends to join him at the library. He often repeated Ou Xiaojian's advice: "whether you can get into college or not, you have to try your best to know."

Chen Lili, still worried, considered having him attend a technical secondary school for better job prospects, but Grandma Zeng strongly opposed it. She urged Chen Lili to "look further," emphasizing the increasing demand for university-educated talent and advising them to "work harder" towards a college degree. Meanwhile, Ou Xiaojian went to meet A FEI to deliver money from his latest shipment. Ou Xiaojian expressed gratitude to A FEI for the opportunity. A FEI, while feigning trust, had grown suspicious of Ou Xiaojian. As they were talking, A FEI's men surrounded and apprehended Ou Xiaojian, taking him into custody.
