Dear Mayang Street Episode 11 Recap
> Dear Mayang Street Recap
Niu Yi wondered why Dada had not yet returned. While searching for a piece of waste paper to use as a placemat, Ma Yingjun discovered a letter in Dada's bedroom. In it, Dada declared her intention to run away from home to pursue her dreams, stating she would not return until she had achieved them and brought glory to their family. Niu Yi, unconcerned, suspected Dada had gone to Ma Xiaoxiao's and insisted on calling her.
Ma Yingjun tried to dissuade her, arguing that contacting Ma Xiaoxiao during her Peking University exam period would only distract her. Meanwhile, Ma Xiaoxiao found Dada, who confessed her fear of returning home to face her parents' anger. Niu Yi continued calling Ma Xiaoxiao's hotel, but no one answered. Ou Xiaojian then called Ma Xiaoxiao and urged her and Dada to take the last bus home. Later that night, upon Dada's return, Niu Yi chased after her, scolding her.
Dada tearfully expressed her frustration, explaining that while her academic performance might be lacking, she excelled in singing and dancing, always placing first. Despite her efforts and good deeds, she felt her family never acknowledged or praised her, leading her to believe she was not valued as a good child. She articulated her struggle with fulfilling expectations while simultaneously yearning for personal freedom, like a fish in a tank longing for the world outside.
Separately, Yi Shengli crashed his car while learning to drive. Hao Pushi, though outwardly critical, showed her concern by secretly tucking some money into his pocket after he fell asleep. The next morning, Ou Xiaojian was already waiting outside for Ma Xiaoxiao, who was headed to Tianhe for her exam, and drove her there on his motorcycle.
At home, Niu Yi prepared fresh meat wontons, Dada's favorite, and strategically conspired with Ma Yingjun to praise the "three fat and seven thin" filling, hoping to entice Dada to eat breakfast. Elsewhere, Yi Dongdong and Yi Nannan bickered over food, accidentally breaking a bowl. Yi Shengli, finding the money in his pocket, felt a quiet sense of warmth.
Later, Bai Juncheng, the assistant director for the cast of the chivalrous Princess, who had previously found Dada's wallet on a bus, offered Dada an audition for the role of a female bandit. Niu Yi and Ma Yingjun vehemently opposed this, arguing that Dada's priority should be her studies. Dada, having overheard, asserted her right to make her own decisions. However, Bai Juncheng clarified that parental consent was necessary since Dada was under eighteen.
Undeterred by her family's objections, Dada packed her backpack and left home again, staying with classmates and seeking to privately accept the film crew's offer. Ma Xiaoxiao later found Dada and supported her desire to try new things, telling her she believed in her. She also asked Dada to help her by picking up some silk rice from the Hong Kong store.
The results for Peking University pre-admission were announced, and both Zeng Xing and Ma Xiaoxiao were shortlisted for the re-examination, a topic of much admiration among their classmates. Ma Xiaoxiao, however, seemed preoccupied, which Yi Dongdong noticed. She confided that she was not unhappy about her academic achievements but worried about Dada potentially being taken advantage of by the film crew.
Meanwhile, Ou Xiaojian confessed to Li Zhaohang his desire to stop his undercover work after the Ma Pi case, reiterating his commitment to go to Beijing, a promise he had made to Ma Xiaoxiao. Wu boss invited A FEI to a banquet, but had his subordinates discreetly hide knives under the table. Ou Xiaojian, quick-witted, seized a knife and held Wu boss hostage.
After the incident, Wu boss, feeling publicly humiliated, gave A FEI a condition: for their business dealings to continue, Ou Xiaojian must smash a wine bottle over his own head. Ma Xiaoxiao visited Grandma Ou's Hong Kong store to buy silk rice. Grandma Ou expressed her wish for Ma Xiaoxiao to persuade Ou Xiaojian to resume his studies, concerned about his current lack of direction.
Ma Xiaoxiao countered that Ou Xiaojian was running a successful business and that "every profession produces a master." Later, while playing basketball, Yi Dongdong accidentally hit Ma Xiaoxiao. That evening, Ma Xiaoxiao noticed Ou Xiaojian returning home looking visibly distressed. While getting water, she discovered a broken tooth on the floor. Concerned, she quietly approached Ou Xiaojian's room. He had a head injury but refused to open the door, wanting to conceal his wounds from her.
Seeing bloodstains on the doorknob, Ma Xiaoxiao urgently demanded he open the door, threatening to kick it down if he refused. Ou Xiaojian, left with no choice, reluctantly opened the door.
