Lin Shaobai wanted to follow Liu Guihang's lead to find Shrike's location. He persuaded Lao Lu to agree to his plan. In the last operation, Liu Guihang's men charged first, resulting in deaths and injuries. He was devastated. To get the approved funding from above, he instructed his subordinates to fabricate reports, claiming that news such as the bridge collapse and the death of government officials were all their doing.

A subordinate produced a newspaper which reported that the Fourth Detachment harassed the public but soon failed. Liu Guihang immediately told his subordinate to invent a Fifth Detachment and fabricate non-existent "deeds". Liu Guihang found that the watch shop was for rent. He immediately sent his subordinate to inquire about the rental situation. This subordinate was a bit slow-witted, making Liu Guihang furious and roar. --- The gold bars and US dollars in the watch shop were missing.

Liu Guihang could never get over this, so he decided to go look for them again. Lin Shaobai followed Liu Guihang's subordinate, deliberately exposed a weakness, and was captured by Liu Guihang. Liu Guihang immediately understood that the money he hid in the watch shop had been taken by Shaobai. When Lao Lu led his men in, he was surprised to see Lin Shaobai drinking with Liu Guihang. Liu Guihang was immediately arrested.

Lin Shaobai honestly stated that his money had been turned over to the national treasury. Liu Guihang was both angry and annoyed but dared not show his anger. Lao Lu ordered Liu Guihang to be interrogated on the spot. Liu Guihang said a lot of nice words. Lao Lu went straight to the point, asking him about Zheng Lanting. Xiao Yun stayed behind to cover the retreat and delay time, and was shot dead by Lao Lu.

While escaping, they ran into Jin Yan. Zheng Lanting ordered his men to capture her and take her back to the anthrax base. He then ordered her to be locked up with the anthrax test subjects. Later, the Public Security found the getaway car, but there was no one in it and no bloodstains, so Jin Yan was likely still alive.
