The two mothers felt Jin Yan was lonely living alone, so she might as well live with them. But Jin Yan is very determined and also very strong. She can go back to work next week; her father's death did not break her. Everyone held a meeting to discuss Shrike's possible whereabouts. Places like Hong Kong and Japan were ruled out; T-wan was even less likely.

Old Lu said Shrike is not someone who gives up easily, and he hasn't played the trump card of Xiaocang yet. Following the lead of Xiaocang, they can find Zheng Lanting. Jin Yan asked Shaobai about her father's last words. Shaobai did not hide anything. Jin Yan continued to ask if the Society Department had investigated her father before he died. Even if Shaobai didn't say it, Jin Yan had a feeling.

Li Xu had already killed all the people Jin Maochang sent to the village and also safely transferred the families of Xu Wei and others.

Shrike excitedly told Xu Wei and Li Xu that they would soon send a big gift to their old friends in Shanghai. Soon, everyone in the Society Department received a letter. Old Lu noticed something was wrong and ordered everyone not to open them. Then he invited Jin Yan and others from the Forensic Science Department. Jin Yan informed them that someone had put anthrax powder in the envelopes.

Fortunately, they weren't opened, but the Forensic Science Department still disinfected the office thoroughly. As ordered by Shrike, Xu Wei and Li Xu blindfolded Liu Guihang and took him to the secret test site. Seeing Meng Heng, who had come with him, covered in sores, Liu Guihang was both shocked and terrified and repeatedly agreed to help Shrike report to the Bureau of Secrecy to apply for funding. Having only Meng Heng for human testing was far from enough.

Li Xu and Xu Wei needed to continue recruiting people, and they couldn't let the Gongan find out. Xu Wei casually tried to get close to Li Xu. He managed to extract information and learned that Zhao Lan was in Jiading, next to Puji Hospital. But when asked for the exact location, Li Xu stopped talking.

Shrike quickly learned about the conversation between Xu Wei and Li Xu and repeatedly warned Xu Wei not to let his guard down, saying good days were ahead. Meng Heng held Xiaocang hostage and took the opportunity to escape. Shrike was greatly alarmed and immediately ordered men to pursue Meng Heng. Meng Heng rushed into a clinic, muttering words like "anthrax". The doctor called the police. Old Lu and Shaobai rushed over, followed closely by Jin Yan.

Meng Heng was already unconscious and was taken back for treatment. Jin Yan speculated that he was a human test subject for anthrax bacteria. Since they couldn't find the person, they would let the Gongan find him for them. Shrike ordered that this matter be handled by Liu Guihang. Soon, several tip-off letters were sent to the bureau. In Deputy Yang's hands, Old Lu was arranged to bring Shaobai back for questioning. Little did they know this was exactly the trap set by the spies. Xu Wei and Li Xu followed Old Lu and easily found the place where Meng Heng was hidden.

As soon as Old Lu left with Shaobai and Jin Yan, Xu Wei arranged for Liu Guihang's men to lead the charge. On the way back, the more Shaobai thought about it, the more something felt wrong. He pointed out that this was likely a spy conspiracy. Old Lu realized it, stopped the car, dropped off Jin Yan, and turned back with Shaobai. By the time they rushed back, the gun battle was over.

Meng Heng had been silenced, and Xu Wei did it. Xu Wei and Liu Guihang both ran away. Lin Shaobai didn't return to the bureau but went out to look for Liu Guihang.
