Dongfang Qingcang told Xiao Lanhua that if she had a wish, he would fulfill it for her. Xiao Lanhua, contemplating that he seemed intent on making her happy, seized the opportunity to ask him to return to Haotian Tower. He immediately refused, prompting Xiao Lanhua to suggest he return the Destiny Book to her after it was repaired.

Again, he refused to discuss it until she recovered, making Xiao Lanhua suspect he was only using the excuse of fixing the Destiny Book to stay by her side. Determined not to let him fall deeper in love with her, she declared her only alternative was to pass the immortal examination.

Dongfang Qingcang questioned her decision, calling her foolish for almost losing her life for such a goal, but Xiao Lanhua insisted that passing the exam would allow her to gain a position at Lord Changheng’s Fountain Palace.

She then passionately praised Lord Changheng, the younger brother of Lord Yunzhong, recounting how he reclaimed all lost territories for Shuiyuntian in less than six thousand years after the battle with the Moon Tribe, stating that Dongfang Qingcang would be no match for him if Changheng had been born earlier. Dongfang Qingcang, realizing Changheng was the one she liked, became frustrated, asking why she kept talking nonsense when he only wanted to know what she desired.

Xiao Lanhua tried to explain that she didn't want him to waste his time on her, believing he would lose interest if he saw more beautiful fairies. Dongfang Qingcang, however, firmly declared that no one in the three realms was as unique as she was to him. Xiao Lanhua reiterated her preference, making it clear she wished Lord Changheng was by her side, not him.

Dongfang Qingcang, observing her weakness, internally mused that serving a small plant was harder than conquering the three realms, yet he was determined to make her the happiest woman in the world. Meanwhile, in Haishi City, a subordinate reported to the lord that a nameless orchid spirit from the Arbiter Hall had stolen the Destiny Book. The lord immediately deduced it was the orchid who had inherited the Arbiter's power and ordered her death to retrieve the book.

However, a subordinate advised caution, explaining that Lord Changheng was currently in Yujing, and a murder would lead to a thorough investigation that could implicate Haishi City. They decided it would be better for Xiao Lanhua to meet an "accident" during the upcoming immortal examination, as such an incident would likely go unnoticed. Back at Arbiter Hall, Xiao Lanhua, startled awake, saw Lord Changheng standing before her.

She was overjoyed until she realized it was Dongfang Qingcang, who had transformed into Changheng's likeness. Annoyed, she demanded he revert to his original form, accusing him of toying with her. Dongfang Qingcang retorted that he was merely fulfilling her earlier wish for Changheng to be by her side. Xiao Lanhua, frustrated by his lack of understanding of human nature and emotions, told him he was hopeless.

When he asked what would make her happy, she insisted she wanted to see the real Lord Changheng, not his disguise. Dongfang Qingcang then offered to tie the real Changheng up for her, but Xiao Lanhua quickly forbade him, reminding him that Changheng could easily defeat him and she needed to prepare for the immortal examination. Dongfang Qingcang warned her not to go, deeming her too weak and in danger, but Xiao Lanhua insisted she must try.

She explained that passing the exam was her only way to reach Changheng's Fountain Palace, serve him, and repay his kindness, which would truly make her happy. Elsewhere, in Shuiyuntian's Shuyu Forest, Fairy Danyin was diligently practicing her magic, but lost control and injured herself. Her father, Lord Li Yuan, appeared, expressing concern and questioning why his noble daughter insisted on participating in the immortal examination to serve others.

Danyin confessed her long-standing affection for Lord Changheng, revealing she knew her father didn't want her to enter Changheng’s Fountain Palace. She acknowledged Changheng’s engagement to the Goddess of Xilan but, believing the goddess was long gone, insisted that if she could become his close attendant, he would eventually fall in love with her. Lord Li Yuan warned her that Changheng’s engagement was orchestrated by Lord Yunzhong, and any deviation could lead to misfortune, not happiness.

Later, Xiao Lanhua heard someone approaching the Arbiter Hall and quickly urged Dongfang Qingcang to hide, instructing him not to come out no matter what happened. Fairy Danyin then arrived, imperiously demanding her Destiny Book to check if she could enter the Fountain Palace. Xiao Lanhua politely refused, explaining that viewing a Destiny Book required a senior immortal's order and that as a junior fairy, she lacked the authority.

Danyin, undeterred, threatened to beat her and began damaging the Destiny Book branches. A vortex suddenly appeared on a tree trunk, revealing a vision of Lord Changheng's wedding. Danyin was distraught to see that the bride was not her, but Xiao Lanhua. Furious, Danyin pushed Xiao Lanhua to the ground. Dongfang Qingcang then emerged from hiding and offered to kill Danyin since she posed a threat to Xiao Lanhua.

Xiao Lanhua, however, quickly rebuked him, asking him to stop causing trouble and to stay still while she left to prepare for the immortal examination. On the day of the immortal examination in Yujing, other fairies gossiped about Fairy Danyin, believing she was already chosen by Lord Changheng due to the Immortal Pill he had refined and gifted her after seven days of seclusion. They resigned themselves to being mere "green leaves" to her "flower."

Lord Sansheng announced silence, and Lord Yunzhong and Lord Changheng made their grand entrance. While the fairies were captivated by Changheng's presence, he was lost in a memory of Xiao Lanhua, recalling his promise to fetch her a Magical Firefly Stone from the Northernmost Ocean because she loved the stars. Lord Yunzhong, seeing the scene, inquired about Rong Hao’s whereabouts, noting that he had arranged a seat for him.

He then addressed the candidates, reminding them of the humiliation suffered by the gods during the Moon Tribe war. He announced Lord Changheng as the main judge and himself as the supervisor for the exam. The rules were simple: candidates must use demon-subduing pills to subdue one of the nine monsters in Shuyu Forest before sunset. With forty-eight candidates and only nine monsters, competition was fierce.

When asked who would enter first, Xiao Lanhua, who had been jostled forward by an unseen force, instinctively said "I." Dongfang Qingcang, observing through a scrying mirror, asked Shang Que if he should intervene. Shang Que expressed disbelief that the mighty Moon Supreme would resort to such petty tricks for a small fairy, but Dongfang Qingcang stated he had no other choice to make Xiao Lanhua happy.

He then instructed Shang Que to lure the weakest monster, Ying Zhao, towards Xiao Lanhua, but to maintain distance as Ying Zhao could sense Dongfang Qingcang's presence. Xiao Lanhua, having wandered to a secluded part of the forest, spotted Ying Zhao. Despite being terrified, she attempted to cleverly subdue it by offering it Liuli Grass, a favorite treat, hoping to catch it off guard while its vigilance was lowered.

Dongfang Qingcang noted her intelligence despite her weak power, while Changheng, observing through a mirror, remarked that Ying Zhao, a spiritual beast, only trusted those with pure and kind hearts, earning a warning glance from Lord Yunzhong. As Xiao Lanhua cautiously approached Ying Zhao, several other fairies surrounded her, demanding she hand over the beast. They claimed they had a right to it despite Xiao Lanhua discovering it first, reminding her that private fights were allowed during the exam.

Xiao Lanhua refused, leading to a confrontation. Fairy Danyin joined them, declaring that even if she didn't want Ying Zhao herself, Xiao Lanhua wouldn't capture any monster, threatening to ruin her cultivation and send her back to being a mere un-enlightened grass. Despite the overwhelming odds, Xiao Lanhua refused to back down, proclaiming that she would never retreat and would risk her life to pass the exam and repay Lord Changheng.

The fairies attacked, but to her surprise, Xiao Lanhua found herself resisting their magic and even striking some of them down, wondering if she had somehow become enlightened. At that moment, Dongfang Qingcang sensed an evil energy and instructed Shang Que to watch over Xiao Lanhua while he investigated. The source was Dieyi, who subtly injected the evil energy into Ying Zhao. The once gentle Ying Zhao suddenly turned monstrous, growing fangs and lunging at Xiao Lanhua.

Changheng, seeing Xiao Lanhua in peril, was about to rush to her aid when Shang Que appeared just in time, intercepting Ying Zhao's attack. Other fairies also encountered the now-crazed Ying Zhao. Fairy Danyin attempted to subdue it but was struck down. Xiao Lanhua bravely intervened, saving Danyin and then trying to subdue Ying Zhao herself. Other fairies, seeing her courage, joined the effort, but Ying Zhao was too powerful.

Spotting a tree hole, Xiao Lanhua quickly led everyone inside for shelter. She then proposed gathering all their demon-subduing pills, reasoning that a single pill wouldn't be enough, but a combined force might subdue Ying Zhao. Although hesitant, the other fairies agreed. Xiao Lanhua, taking all the gathered pills, volunteered to lure Ying Zhao away, offering herself as bait. With her injured hand, she taunted the rampaging Ying Zhao, leading it away from the tree hole.

Meanwhile, Danyin, recovering, rushed back to the main hall with some fairies to report the terrifying turn of events to Aunt Sansheng. Lord Li Yuan, worried about his daughter, checked on Danyin, while Changheng, alerted to Xiao Lanhua's danger, quickly mobilized others, splitting up to search for her in Shuyu Forest as Xiao Lanhua's desperate cries for help echoed through the woods.
