Age of Legends Episode 45 Recap
> Age of Legends Recap
Hu Rong appeared before Director Song and Captain Han Jin to admit her mistake, explaining that Liu Ziguang had recalled Nie Wanfeng's involvement in a drug trafficking organization and also remembered himself as Huang Zhenwu’s informant. Han Jin questioned her decision to take Liu Ziguang to Nie Wanfeng's home, fearing it might have alerted a suspect if Nie Wanfeng were indeed a criminal.
Hu Rong acknowledged her hastiness and reported that their visit yielded nothing; Nie Wanfeng showed no wolf-head tattoo or even a scar. Director Song found Liu Ziguang's claim of being an informant strange, recalling Li Jianguo's earlier statement that Huang Zhenwu, Liu Ziguang, and A-Se had lived together in a pub. He wondered if Liu Ziguang was deliberately fabricating the story to deflect suspicion.
At that moment, Officer Zhao informed them that Interpol had sent an email revealing the drug lord Sangbo's bank account in Switzerland, along with a login link. However, the bank could not provide the password. Interpol believed that whoever could open this account was most likely Sangbo. Director Hu Yuejin frowned, asking how Interpol obtained the account information. Han Jin stated it was an anonymous tip. Director Hu Yuejin, considering criminal psychology, suspected a trap.
He reasoned that if Liu Ziguang truly were Sangbo, he would certainly feign memory loss or claim to have forgotten the password, never opening the account to confirm his identity. Hu Rong then volunteered to confront Liu Ziguang, confident she knew his special numbers and could not be fooled. Director Hu Yuejin granted her permission, but cautioned her to remain calm, sending Officer Zhao along with her.
After Hu Rong left, Director Hu Yuejin also pondered whether Sangbo might have actually been Huang Zhenwu's informant. Hu Rong went to the boxing gym and placed a laptop in front of Liu Ziguang, presenting the account as his father's, known only to his father and the informant. She urged him to enter any familiar numbers. Liu Ziguang initially claimed he had no code and couldn't think of any numbers.
However, Hu Rong reminded him that whenever he was nervous, he would recite Pi. Liu Ziguang then hesitantly entered the digits of Pi, and to their astonishment, the account successfully opened. Calmly, Hu Rong instructed Officer Zhao to return to the task force and report that Liu Ziguang had opened the bank account. Alone with Liu Ziguang, Hu Rong then painfully revealed the truth: it was not his father's account, but Sangbo's.
This meant he was Sangbo, the one who killed her father, Huang Zhenwu. Liu Ziguang's expression turned complex as he grappled with the realization that he was Sangbo, the murderer, yet possibly also her father's informant, as his own memories had suggested. Hu Rong then informed him of more tragic news: A-Se had died, and Li Jianguo had been kidnapped. After a long silence, Liu Ziguang requested to see Guo Yuanchao, and Hu Rong agreed to accompany him.
Back at the police station, the task force convened. Director Hu Yuejin posed the question of how they viewed Liu Ziguang opening Sangbo's account. Han Jin voiced his suspicions, pointing out the excessive coincidences: the M Country police video was conveniently edited, missing a beginning and end, and the source of the anonymous tip to Interpol about the account remained unknown.
He also revealed that when he tested the account using Pi, it only showed the balance and account name, offering no functional operations. Han Jin concluded that the account was a deliberate scheme to mislead the police into continuously investigating Liu Ziguang. Director Hu Yuejin then ordered Hu Rong and Officer Zhao to maintain close surveillance on Liu Ziguang to ensure his cooperation. Hu Rong accompanied Liu Ziguang to Guo Yuanchao's home, waiting outside while Liu Ziguang went inside.
He quietly entered the room, making sure not to disturb Bei Xiaoshuai, who was asleep by Guo Yuanchao's bedside. From a distance, Liu Ziguang knelt and paid his respects to Guo Yuanchao, promising to return to care for him until his last days. He then cast a final glance toward the door where Hu Rong was waiting and quickly left the house, undetected.
Hu Rong soon received a phone call reporting Liu Ziguang's escape, which sent her rushing back to the station. Director Hu Yuejin was furious, demanding to know how Liu Ziguang could have vanished under surveillance. Han Jin suggested that Liu Ziguang might have already left Jiangbei, prompting Director Hu Yuejin to issue an urgent order for his immediate apprehension. Meanwhile, Liu Ziguang went to Nie Wanfeng's home, requesting safe passage to M Country.
Nie Wanfeng initially refused, stating "We aren't the same," but Liu Ziguang offered the password to his 100 million USD secret bank account as leverage. After a brief pause, Nie Wanfeng agreed to help his "brother." Later, Hou Sihai's subordinate, Monkey, was apprehended and interrogated. Monkey confessed that Hou Sihai had been using his sand transportation routes to smuggle a drug called "Angel" for Nie Wanfeng.
Their partnership dissolved when Hou Sihai, driven by greed, tried to renegotiate his profit share, exceeding Nie Wanfeng's tolerance. Monkey deduced that Nie Wanfeng must have silenced Hou Sihai to protect himself. The police, acting on a lead, went to Nie Wanfeng's villa, only to find he had also disappeared. His housekeeper recalled seeing Nie Wanfeng and Liu Ziguang leaving together the previous night. At the same time, Sun Hu drove Liu Ziguang to Mengla Town.
Sun Hu mentioned that Nie Wanfeng had told him that he and Liu Ziguang once lived like brothers in a pub in that town. As Liu Ziguang walked through Mengla Town, familiar sights triggered a flood of memories from his past eight years, making them vividly clear. During a police briefing, Director Song reviewed the latest evidence, connecting Monkey's confession to Nie Wanfeng's role as the "Angel" drug supplier and his likely involvement in Hou Sihai's murder.
He suggested Nie Wanfeng could indeed be the elusive drug lord Sangbo. Just then, Han Jin received a call from Officer Chang Tuo of the M Country police, who reported that a corrupt local officer named Wanka had been arrested. Wanka confessed to being bribed by Nie Wanfeng, known in M Country as Ye Wanglong, a major drug lord who supplied "Angel" and had been trafficking drugs there.
Wanka had long supplied Nie Wanfeng with internal police information and covered up his crimes, ensuring Nie Wanfeng remained off the police's radar. Chang Tuo also confirmed that the previous video they received was indeed tampered with by Wanka and sent over the complete version. The full video showed Nie Wanfeng, appearing triumphant, walking out of the pub.
It also depicted a flashback scene where Nie Wanfeng (as Sangkun) and Liu Ziguang (as Sangbo) were given their aliases at the pub. Hu Rong concluded that all the misleading evidence, including the edited video, the false tattoo lead, and the black money account, were part of Nie Wanfeng’s elaborate plan to frame Liu Ziguang. She deduced that Nie Wanfeng intended to make the police believe Liu Ziguang was Sangbo, thereby diverting attention from himself.
Han Jin further speculated that Nie Wanfeng was the true Sangbo. Director Hu Yuejin immediately ordered full cooperation with the M Country police to apprehend Nie Wanfeng and rescue Li Jianguo. Soon after, Han Jin received another update from Officer Chang Tuo: Wanka's confession revealed that Nie Wanfeng had orchestrated a car accident to murder his own wife and her parents in M Country. He then inherited their vast wealth, which he used to develop his armed drug cartel.
The corrupt officer Wanka had also helped Nie Wanfeng fabricate evidence for these crimes. Director Song concurred with the new deductions, affirming that Nie Wanfeng was the real drug lord Sangbo, and they decided to collaborate with M Country police to dismantle his criminal organization.
