Age of Legends Episode 3 Recap
> Age of Legends Recap
Two days later in Xihai City, China, a woman out for her morning exercise discovered Liu Ziguang unconscious on the beach and promptly brought him to a medical station. A doctor performed a comprehensive check-up and informed Liu Ziguang that he had suffered a head trauma, likely a mild concussion, resulting in memory loss. The doctor estimated he had been floating in the ocean for about two to three days.
Unable to recall anything beyond his hometown of Jiangbei and that his family was deceased, Liu Ziguang accepted the doctor's kind offer of ¥500 and arranged for a nurse, Little Jin, to cut his hair and trim his beard. Gazing at his reflection, Liu Ziguang wondered aloud how he had become this way and what had transpired during the past eight years that he couldn't remember.
Meanwhile, in Jiangbei City, Hu Rong and her colleagues were on a mission to apprehend a suspect. When the suspect spotted them and fled into a parking garage, Hu Rong and her team split up. Despite her colleague's warnings, Hu Rong aggressively pursued the suspect alone, engaging in a dangerous hand-to-hand struggle. Fortunately, her colleagues arrived in time to subdue the suspect.
Afterward, Captain Han Jin sternly reprimanded Hu Rong, criticizing her rashness and disregard for discipline, questioning her respect for him as her captain and her capability as a rookie. Hu Rong, however, defiantly mimicked Captain Han behind his back, much to the amusement of her colleagues. Liu Ziguang boarded a long-distance bus back to Jiangbei City, returning to his long-lost hometown with a weary demeanor.
Shortly after his arrival, Jiangbei experienced a hostage situation where several masked kidnappers abducted a child. Captain Han Jin, who had just banned Hu Rong from fieldwork for a month due to her previous insubordination, quickly left for the scene upon hearing the news. Disregarding the order, Hu Rong commandeered a motorcycle and sped off in pursuit of the kidnappers' vehicle, leaving the police car, which was stuck in traffic, behind.
Han Jin instructed his officers to follow her quickly, worried about her reckless behavior. Liu Ziguang made his way to his father’s old restaurant, remembering happier times when his father served customers. He found it empty and learned from the current owner, Li Jianguo, that the Chenguang Machinery Plant dormitories, which Liu Ziguang inquired about, had been torn down long ago and were now an abandoned site.
As Liu Ziguang walked through the streets, he stumbled upon the kidnappers’ vehicle, which had crashed. The kidnappers abandoned the car and fled on foot with the child. Hu Rong, relentlessly pursuing them, cornered them in an abandoned factory. She fired a warning shot, but the kidnappers threatened to harm the child, forcing her to lower her weapon. Two kidnappers then engaged Hu Rong while the others tried to escape with the child.
Seeing this, Liu Ziguang instinctively intervened, confronting the kidnappers and rescuing the child. When Han Jin and his team arrived, they found Liu Ziguang holding the child. They ordered him to put the child down and kneel. Faced with the officers' guns, Liu Ziguang experienced a vivid flashback of a drug factory, with a figure telling him, "Don't move! Freeze!" This triggered a physical reaction, causing him to lose his balance and fall.
Liu Ziguang was then taken to the Public Security Bureau for questioning along with the kidnappers. Meanwhile, Sun Wei met with Hou Sihai and knelt, informing him that "that event failed" due to a "fearless female cop." Hou Sihai expressed his anger at Sun Wei's carelessness, reminding him of the formidable Jiangbei police. Sun Wei assured him that the arrested kidnappers were "tight-lipped" and would not implicate Hou Sihai.
Sun Wei then voiced his concern that Nie Wanfeng might suspect them of involvement in his son's kidnapping. Hou Sihai confidently stated that as long as their men remained silent, Nie Wanfeng would have no evidence. At the Public Security Bureau, an investigation revealed that the individual named Liu Ziguang had been reported missing eight years prior in October 2009 by Gao Yuanchao. With no news for eight years, his death had been declared, and his household registration revoked.
Liu Ziguang stared in disbelief at the death certificate. Hu Rong, eyeing him suspiciously, questioned him about the knife and gunshot scars on his body and a tattoo, as well as his presence at the kidnapping scene. Liu Ziguang claimed he had no memory of how he acquired the scars or tattoo due to his amnesia. He explained that he had simply stumbled upon the kidnapping while looking for his home and had acted to save the child.
Little Bai later confirmed that statements from the other kidnappers corroborated Liu Ziguang's account, affirming he was not their accomplice. Furthermore, the Xihai hospital verified that he had indeed been rescued from the beach and treated for a mild concussion and post-traumatic amnesia. Han Jin informed Hu Rong that Liu Ziguang's story was consistent with the evidence and ordered his release, but Hu Rong remained instinctively suspicious, convinced he was not as simple as he seemed.
At the Jiangbei Public Security Bureau, Wang Long, operating under the alias Nie Wanfeng and claiming to be the child's father, expressed his gratitude to Bureau Chief Song. Bureau Chief Song informed Wang Long that the true person to thank was Liu Ziguang, who bravely intervened. Hearing the name "Liu Ziguang," Wang Long was visibly startled, his heart racing, but he quickly composed himself before leaving.
As Liu Ziguang walked out of the police station, he encountered an old neighbor, Uncle Guo. Initially, Liu Ziguang did not recognize him, but after Uncle Guo recalled fond memories of Liu Ziguang's father sending him to deliver food and liquor, Liu Ziguang's memory stirred, and he remembered Uncle Guo. Overcome with emotion, Uncle Guo, who had reported Liu Ziguang missing eight years ago, tearfully embraced him and took him home.
Later, Wang Long, speaking to his son Cheng Cheng, encouraged him to become stronger to protect himself, recalling a memory of being forced to commit a ruthless act in the past to gain strength.
