Thousand Years For You Episode 7 Recap
> Thousand Years For You Recap
Zhu Rong, the leader of the Spirit Clan, consumed a Spirit Clan member's energy, but it was far from enough to fully recover his strength. Three thousand years ago, Lu Yan had pierced Zhu Rong's chest with an arrow in the Spirit Clan hall, severely wounding him. Now, Zhu Rong was forced to rely on absorbing the essence of others to repair his own energy.
He learned that Yu Dengdeng unknowingly carried Yun Xi's Energy Core within her and planned to seize it to revive the Black Saintess and ultimately command all of the Nine Continents. Zhu Rong vowed to make Lu Yan kneel before him again and suffer the pain of losing everything. Having endured several harrowing experiences, Dengdeng began to suspect that Lu Yan was not merely a spirit-hunter but might also be a member of the Spirit Clan.
However, as Lu Yan chose not to reveal his true nature, she decided not to press the issue. Lu Yan tried to transfer his vital energy to Dengdeng, who, impressed by this "legendary transfer of internal energy," humorously told him to stop, fearing it would leave him vulnerable to monsters.
She acknowledged him as a "big shot"—referencing how Mr. Bu had called him General Yan and his supernatural powers—and declared her trust that he, even if a Spirit Clan member, would not harm her. Lu Yan then offered her a bag of glutinous rice cakes to help her regain strength. Dengdeng, touched by his kindness, asked where he had acquired them in the wilderness.
Dengdeng, moved by Lu Yan's constant protection, jokingly asked if he harbored feelings for her, then quickly dismissed the idea, stating that if she died young, he would become a widower. She then soberly discussed her impending demise and entrusted him with the protection of Qingquan Stronghold and its vulnerable residents, including Lv Er, if she were to pass away. Lu Yan firmly assured her that he would not let anything happen to her.
Overwhelmed, Dengdeng pressed him further, asking why he was so good to her, a wealthy and handsome man, to willingly remain in their impoverished stronghold filled with the elderly and infirm. Lu Yan revealed his true motive: he desired the Bone of Ying Dragon from the ancestral temple of the Yu family. Dengdeng, after clarifying that it was "the bones of the ancient spirit clan," readily agreed to give it to him, considering it a "return gift."
Lu Yan then urged her to focus on staying safe and not to utter discouraging words. Meanwhile, Gu Beixi, worried about Dengdeng's condition, insisted on going out to find the spirit clan responsible. Sometime later, Xin reported that Gu Beixi had disappeared and noted the smell of spirit clan blood where he had last been. Lu Yan immediately set out to investigate, instructing Xin to stay behind and care for Dengdeng. A short while later, Gu Beixi unexpectedly returned.
Dengdeng was initially relieved, but a flicker of suspicion quickly turned into certainty: the person before her was not the real Gu Beixi. She tested him by recounting a childhood memory, stating that she had cut all his hair when they were young. The imposter claimed to have forgotten such a trivial matter. Dengdeng corrected him, reminding him that he was the one who had shaved all "her" hair and was beaten by his father for it.
With this, she confirmed his deception. Dengdeng subtly signaled Xin, and together they prepared to confront the spirit. However, Xin was quickly overpowered and knocked to the ground. The spirit, still possessing Gu Beixi's body, taunted Dengdeng about her "two men" protecting her. In a desperate move, Dengdeng pulled out her hairpin and stabbed the spirit, forcing it to flee from Gu Beixi's body.
The spirit, now a separate entity, was shocked, questioning how her blood could possess the power to suppress Spirit Clan members. Dengdeng taunted it to chase her to find out. To draw its attention away from the vulnerable Xin and Gu Beixi, Dengdeng bravely ran outside. Just as the spirit lunged at her with a blinding, poisonous light, Lu Yan suddenly appeared, shielding her.
He shattered the spirit's energy, instantly reversing the poisoning in all the afflicted villagers, who returned to their normal states. Lu Yan then carefully bandaged Dengdeng's self-inflicted wound, chiding her for being so reckless. Dengdeng explained her father had once mentioned her blood's power against spirits, and she wanted to test it. Gu Beixi, now recovered, warned her not to become "Tang Monk's flesh" to be devoured by demons, subtly hinting at Lu Yan's ulterior motives.
However, Dengdeng failed to grasp his warning and, relieved, walked away arm-in-arm with Lu Yan. Back at the stronghold, Dengdeng and Lv Er erected a tombstone to mourn Mr. Ya. Dengdeng's thoughts turned to her own mother, lamenting that she had never mourned her or even known where she was buried. Lv Er consoled her, explaining that her father likely kept the details hidden to spare her pain.
Dengdeng pressed him, asking about her mother's death and the mysterious ability of her blood to repel spirits. Lv Er recounted a traumatic event from Dengdeng's childhood: when she was three, a group of outlaws attacked their village, killing residents and seeking young girls. Her mother had bravely hidden her, sacrificing her own life. He further explained that the unique properties of Dengdeng's blood stemmed from an incident when she was a sickly child.
Her father had found and fed her a spirit bird, which not only cured her but also imbued her with great strength and this special blood. Lv Er advised her not to dwell on these thoughts, focusing instead on her good fortune to be safe. Later, under the bright moonlight, Dengdeng went to meet Lu Yan in Gongbao Garden, where he had arranged for them to appreciate the blooming flowers.
Dengdeng presented him with the Bone of Ying Dragon, reiterating her promise. Lu Yan, experiencing a mix of emotions, expressed his desire to thank her properly. He then directed her into a palanquin, which transported her into a magically recreated snow-covered landscape of her childhood home. Overjoyed, Dengdeng recognized the snowfall, the snowman she had built, her mother's handcrafted scarf, and even the old house she grew up in.
She saw her younger self and, deeply moved, cautioned her not to be mischievous or talk about her mother not loving her, reminding her to be filial and protect her mother, especially due to her mother's leg pain. Her mother then approached the adult Dengdeng, noticing her thin clothes and cold hands, and kindly offered her own scarf.
Dengdeng, overwhelmed with emotion, reached out to touch her mother's face and tearfully warned her that the village was unsafe, urging her to leave quickly with her child. Her mother, confused, promised to remember her words. Emerging from the palanquin, Dengdeng returned to reality, tears streaming down her face. She embraced Lu Yan, thanking him for the profound experience, and confessed her worry that his kindness made it impossible for her to ever leave him.
A nearby Xin subtly reminded Lu Yan that the following night was the full moon, and having obtained the Bone of Ying Dragon, it was time to extract Yun Xi's spirit, cautioning him not to be soft-hearted when leading Dengdeng out of the stronghold. Observing the moon, Lu Yan then extended an invitation to Dengdeng to attend the lantern festival in town on the upcoming full moon night.
Dengdeng, delighted by his unexpected invitation, playfully teased him for "getting a clue" and enthusiastically agreed to accompany him. Unbeknownst to Lu Yan, Xin had secretly gone to the city and established a Spirit-gathering formation in an alley within the lantern festival area. However, his actions were discovered by Gu Beixi's men, who reported it to their leader. Gu Beixi sought out Master Huangxuan, a Great spirit-hunter, to examine the formation.
The Master identified it as a potent Spirit-gathering formation created from ancient Spirit Clan bone ashes, controlled by a powerful entity, and declared it unbreakable. He advised that the targeted individual (Dengdeng) must absolutely avoid stepping into the formation. Master Huangxuan then provided Gu Beixi with four consecrated bullets, two for each of them, to use against spirits.
Gu Beixi intercepted Dengdeng at the lantern festival, desperately trying to warn her that Lu Yan was a Spirit Clan member and that the formation was intended to kill her. Dengdeng, however, stubbornly dismissed his warnings, reiterating her trust in Lu Yan and declaring she would marry him even if he were a spirit. She accused Gu Beixi of fabricating stories because he couldn't bear to see her happy.
Gu Beixi persisted, urging her to consider if Lu Yan intended to take her to the riverbank that very night. But Dengdeng again brushed off his concerns. As Lu Yan arrived, Dengdeng cheerfully presented him with a Honeyed glutinous rice cake, a local delicacy said to symbolize sweet and unwavering love. Lu Yan declined to eat it, so Dengdeng tucked it into her bosom to keep it warm. At that moment, Xin urgently reminded Lu Yan that the full moon night was fleeting, the Ying Dragon ashes had been utilized, and this was their sole opportunity.
