Thousand Years For You Episode 14 Recap
> Thousand Years For You Recap
If only one of them could live, Yun Xi chose for that person to be Lu Yan. She wanted him to carry her Energy Core across the Nine Continents, to witness the day when humans and the Spirit Clan would coexist in peace. With her hairpin, Yun Xi extracted her own Energy Core and injected it into Lu Yan's chest.
Using her last breath, she summoned Xin, instructing him to take Lu Yan away and to regard Lu Yan as his new master from that moment on. She also entrusted the hairpin to Xin for Lu Yan. After seeing Xin successfully depart with Lu Yan, Yun Xi slowly leaned against a bamboo branch. In that moment, she realized the profound nature of human love—a willingness to die for the living.
Yun Xi passed away with a serene smile, leaving behind only a golden spiritual feather. Upon waking, Lu Yan was informed by Xin of Yun Xi's sacrifice. He discovered that all that remained of her was the spiritual feather. Xin then revealed a Spirit Clan legend: if a person possessing an Energy Core sealed themselves within a mountain containing a lake, the core's power could nourish scattered spirit fragments, allowing the spirit to reunite after three millennia.
Though this method caused immense harm to the one holding the Energy Core and was merely a legend, Lu Yan, seeing even a faint possibility, resolved to try. He placed Yun Xi's spiritual feather on Qingquan Mountain and sealed himself within the mountain. Later, Lu Yan shared his and Yun Xi’s story with Dengdeng. Hearing of Yun Xi’s deep affection and righteousness, Dengdeng felt a sense of admiration, her initial fear subsiding. Unexpectedly, Lu Yan then immobilized her.
He had obtained the latter half of the "Collection of Thousands of years’ Knowledge," a powerful tome, and intended to use it to uncover whether Dengdeng was truly Yun Xi. With a gesture, he conjured visions in the air. The images depicted a spiritual feather transforming into a little girl. A Yu family couple, passing by, discovered her.
The husband was cautious, recognizing her as a Spirit Clan member, but his wife, seeing that the girl was the same age as their deceased daughter, decided to take her home and raise her as their own, concealing her true identity with energy. Dengdeng watched in shock, unable to comprehend the sight of two versions of herself. Unnoticed, the hairpin in her hair began to glow, and a distinct mark appeared on her forehead.
Overwhelmed, Lu Yan's Energy Core pulsed, and a smile spread across his face. After three thousand years, he had finally found and rescued Yun Xi. Dengdeng, however, refused to accept that she was Yun Xi, finding the memories of the Saintess distant and unfamiliar. She pushed Lu Yan away, insisting on leaving, and returned the hairpin to him.
Lu Yan explained that the hairpin was Yun Xi's, imbued with energy, and that Yun Xi had used it to extract her Energy Core. He added that it could easily take his life, and if Dengdeng ever perceived him as a threat, she could use the hairpin to harm him. Dengdeng was confused, wondering why he had so casually given her such a crucial item before.
Lu Yan clarified that at the time, his urgency to save her life had been paramount, and perhaps it was destiny for the item to return to its rightful owner. Dengdeng, feeling shy, averted her gaze, pretending not to believe him. To prove his words, Lu Yan used the hairpin to cut his own hand. Dengdeng knew that his wounds normally healed instantly, yet this cut remained open, refusing to close.
After contemplating the implications, Dengdeng decided to accept the hairpin. Lu Yan further explained that the hairpin had another use: she could call out to him using it, and he would hear her and instantly appear by her side. Dengdeng, impressed, remarked that it was more effective than a wireless telephone. Dengdeng agreed to keep it, intending to use it for protection against other Spirit Clan members, should the need arise.
Meanwhile, Zhu Rong received a report from his subordinate about Lu Yan's formidable energy during their escape from the Mysterious Market. The subordinate also noted that Yu Dengdeng's energy signature bore a striking resemblance to that of Saintess Yun Xi. Zhu Rong quickly deduced that Dengdeng was indeed Yun Xi reincarnated. His understanding of Lu Yan's persistent efforts now made sense. Consequently, Zhu Rong began laying traps in Yingdu, preparing to test Dengdeng.
Lu Yan and Dengdeng returned to the Rose Hotel with the Wuxiang Pills, which they used to revive the unconscious guests. Dahai and Gu Beixi also arrived. The group questioned Daidai, the young innkeeper, who tearfully explained that her parents and the parents of many other children had mysteriously disappeared in Yingdu. To gather enough money to travel to Yingdu and seek help from the police station, they had resorted to running a "black market inn."
Moved by her plight, Dengdeng promised Daidai that she would help investigate the whereabouts of their missing relatives. The group finally reached Yingdu. Lu Yan honored his promise to Dengdeng, maintaining a distance from her and providing protection from afar. That night, holding the hairpin, Dengdeng's mind raced with doubts about whether she truly was the Saintess.
Dahai, amused by the idea, openly expressed his disbelief, making a humorous comparison that a Saintess was like a "heavenly cloud" while Dengdeng was like "a fertile field." Although Dahai had promised to keep her secret, Gu Beixi inexplicably learned of it the following day, likely from Dahai talking in his sleep. Later, while resting in a forest, Dengdeng idly wished for rain, and a sudden downpour promptly began. Coincidentally, they discovered umbrellas in the desolate woods.
Lu Yan's distant figure appeared, standing in the rain. Dengdeng was filled with a mix of complex emotions, and Gu Beixi, observing the situation, also appeared unsettled. Dengdeng internally debated whether to offer Lu Yan an umbrella, but ultimately decided against breaking their agreement. Gu Beixi then offered to take an umbrella to Lu Yan, but Dengdeng quickly stopped him.
