The Untamed Episode 24 Recap
> The Untamed Recap
During a formal banquet, when Jin Guangshan suggested the marriage alliance between Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yanli be re-established, Wei Wuxian immediately stepped forward. He asserted that a matter as significant as marriage should first be discussed directly with Jiang Yanli, not just Jiang Cheng. Taking the cue, Jiang Cheng agreed that the decision rested with his elder sister and should not be meddled with by outsiders.
Jiang Yanli then politely thanked Clan Leader Jin for his kind intentions but stated that having just endured a great calamity, her primary focus was to return to Yunmeng and rebuild Lotus Cove, making it an unsuitable time for marriage. With her firm but respectful refusal, Jin Guangshan had no choice but to concede.
Following this, Jin Guangyao, on behalf of his father, extended an earnest invitation to all major clans to attend the Phoenix Mountain Crowd Hunt, to be held at Jinglintai in the autumn. He emphasized it as a generous act to assist other clans recovering from the war. Later, after the guests departed, Jin Guangyao secretly met with Jin Guangshan, who inquired about the last Yin Iron shard.
Jin Guangyao reported that Wen Ruohan had claimed it was on Xue Yang, but a search yielded nothing. He cautiously raised the possibility that someone else took it from Xue Yang, pointing out that, besides himself, only Wei Wuxian had been alone with the prisoner. Although Jin Guangyao feigned innocence by adding that Wei Wuxian was an unlikely suspect, Jin Guangshan immediately grew suspicious.
He connected the disappearance of Xue Yang with Wei Wuxian's sudden possession of the Stygian Tiger Amulet. Concerned that the last piece of the powerful Yin Iron was unaccounted for, Jin Guangshan instructed Jin Guangyao to closely monitor Wei Wuxian. Meanwhile, Wei Wuxian, Jiang Yanli, and Jiang Cheng returned to a desolate Lotus Cove. The once vibrant clan grounds lay in ruins, with a Wen clan sun emblem still hanging from a damaged structure.
Enraged, Jiang Cheng fiercely lashed out with Zidian, shattering the hateful symbol. Elsewhere, Lan Wangji was absorbed in playing his guqin when Lan Xichen arrived to check on him. Lan Wangji requested access to the forbidden chamber of the Library Pavilion to study more music scores, but before Lan Xichen could respond, Lan Qiren summoned them both. Lan Qiren, well-aware of the Sunshot Campaign's aftermath and Wei Wuxian's unorthodox methods, voiced his concerns.
He worried that the widespread death and Wen clan's wicked cultivation arts would lead to endless suffering if not properly cleansed. He then assigned Lan Wangji the task of mending the clan's damaged ancient texts and re-establishing their disciplines, stressing that rules were the foundation of the Lan clan. Unyielding, Lan Wangji knelt, repeatedly requesting access to the forbidden chamber.
Sternly, Lan Qiren denied the request, questioning its necessity and making it clear he was keeping Lan Wangji in Cloud Recesses to distance him from Wei Wuxian's dangerous influence. At the same time, in Lotus Cove, Jiang Cheng officially took on the mantle of Clan Leader, solemnly vowing to uphold the Jiang clan discipline of "attempting the impossible" and to protect his clan.
While Jiang Cheng began rigorously training the disciples, Wei Wuxian maintained his carefree disposition and was frequently absent, much to Jiang Cheng’s growing frustration. Jiang Yanli tried to explain Wei Wuxian was simply unaccustomed to the changed Lotus Cove, but Jiang Cheng retorted that he was also struggling to adapt and felt Wei Wuxian lacked commitment to their cause. One day, Wei Wuxian was drinking in a Yunmeng tavern when he encountered Lan Xichen.
They shared a drink, with Lan Xichen explaining he used his golden core to nullify the alcohol, thus not breaking Lan clan rules. Amused, Wei Wuxian asked why Lan Wangji was absent and learned he was confined to Cloud Recesses, mending over three thousand clan rules. Lan Xichen then suggested Wei Wuxian listen to "Absterge," a piece Lan Wangji had been studying for its calming effects.
Realizing Lan Xichen was there to persuade him, Wei Wuxian listened as he earnestly spoke of the world's established rules and offered the Lan clan’s help in guiding him back to traditional sword arts. However, Wei Wuxian firmly refused. Despite Lan Xichen’s warning that demonic cultivation could harm his temperament and the Stygian Tiger Amulet was difficult to control, Wei Wuxian expressed a desire to master it himself, believing he might be a prodigy.
Later that evening, Wei Wuxian stumbled back into Lotus Cove, liquor pot in hand. Jiang Cheng, seeing his disheveled state, furiously berated him for his lack of discipline and neglected sword. He pushed Wei Wuxian, who fell to the ground. Mistakenly believing his brother's weakness was due to drinking, Jiang Cheng was unaware that Wei Wuxian had lost his golden core. Exhausted, Wei Wuxian refused to fight back and sought out Jiang Yanli in the ancestral hall.
She expressed her fear that his constant arguments with Jiang Cheng might drive him to leave. With tears in his eyes, Wei Wuxian promised he would never abandon her or Lotus Cove, recalling how Jiang Fengmian had rescued him from the streets. Jiang Cheng, who had been listening outside, felt a pang of regret. When Wei Wuxian emerged, the two fell into familiar bickering over lotus root and rib soup before Jiang Yanli mediated.
Their conversation turned to the upcoming Phoenix Mountain Crowd Hunt, and Jiang Cheng reminded Wei Wuxian of their childhood pact to become the "Twin Prides of Yunmeng." He sternly warned him to stay away from Jin Zixuan, but Wei Wuxian, still annoyed, noted he found Jin Guangyao more pleasant than the "peacock" Jin Zixuan. Jiang Cheng dismissed this, stating Jin Guangyao could never be more than a subordinate, while Jin Zixuan was the heir.
Wei Wuxian then confronted Jiang Cheng about his changed attitude toward the marriage. Jiang Cheng admitted he no longer found it "unacceptable." Furious, Wei Wuxian listed Jin Zixuan's past arrogance and his father's philandering, but Jiang Cheng retorted that the decision was Jiang Yanli's, as she was the one who liked him. Wei Wuxian could only lament his sister's affection for the "peacock." As the days passed, Wei Wuxian tried to lead a peaceful life, often wishing he could return to the carefree days of his past.
