The Untamed Episode 10 Recap
> The Untamed Recap
Inside the Chang clan mansion, Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji, Jiang Cheng, and Nie Huaisang examined the gruesome scene. They noted the victims' blue bodies, discolored pupils, and red neck cracks, concluding that everyone had been turned into puppets before death. Suddenly, a figure appeared on the eaves. It was Xue Yang, dressed in black, greeting them with an unsettling smile. Xiao Xingchen, clad in white, descended from the sky, revealing he had been tracking Xue Yang relentlessly.
Xiao Xingchen confronted Xue Yang, accusing him of a string of murders since he left Qishan, including the recent massacre of dozens from the Chang clan. Though Xiao Xingchen had tracked him for half a month, Xue Yang had always eluded capture until now. Xue Yang, acknowledging his guilt but challenging their ability to apprehend him, attempted to escape with a leap. However, Wei Wuxian, having anticipated this, ensnared him with a silk thread, sending him crashing to the ground.
As Xue Yang battled Xiao Xingchen, Wei Wuxian assisted, using a powerful talisman he initially called "Wuyi," but mockingly renamed "Dying Together" for Xue Yang. Xue Yang cunningly unleashed his Qiankun Sleeve move, but just then, Song Lan arrived, calling out to Xiao Xingchen by his courtesy name, Zichen, and helped subdue Xue Yang, finally capturing him.
Xiao Xingchen revealed that Xue Yang, despite his youth, possessed a notorious record, being responsible for the recent massacres of numerous minor cultivation clans. He warned everyone that Xue Yang was exceptionally cunning and would seize any opportunity to escape. Lan Wangji demanded the Yin Iron, but Xue Yang claimed ignorance, insisting he was only a murderer and had never touched any treasure. Wei Wuxian, intrigued, attempted to search him, leading to Xue Yang's playful resistance.
Lan Wangji noted that his own Yin Iron had remained strangely silent since they entered the Chang clan ancestral hall, suspecting Xue Yang had shrewdly hidden his piece in a seemingly "safest" location. Wei Wuxian then directly questioned Xue Yang if he was acting under the Wen clan's orders. Xue Yang vehemently denied it, calling himself a mere hooligan unworthy of association with the powerful Wen clan of Qishan.
Wei Wuxian pointed out his mercilessness towards smaller clans, but Xue Yang maintained that his actions stemmed purely from personal vendetta. Just then, Nie Huaisang and Meng Yao arrived. Meng Yao explained that Clan Leader Nie Mingjue had sent him to greet them, having received a confidential letter from Lan Xichen inviting Lan Wangji to Qinghe.
Lan Wangji inquired about his brother's well-being, to which Meng Yao assured him that everything was fine and that Nie Mingjue was awaiting them at the Unclean Realm. Meng Yao asked Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan if they would entrust Xue Yang to Clan Leader Nie's fair judgment, which they agreed to, recognizing Xue Yang's trickery and the need for swift action.
However, Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan declined to accompany them to Qinghe, stating their commitment to a life free from clan affiliations, valuing shared ideals over lineage. They pledged to offer their assistance only if the world truly needed their efforts in the future. Wei Wuxian expressed admiration for their philosophy. Before their departure, Wei Wuxian discovered that Xiao Xingchen was a disciple of Baoshan Sanren.
Excited, Wei Wuxian revealed he was Zangse Sanren's son, which would make Xiao Xingchen his martial uncle by generation. Xiao Xingchen, the latest disciple of Baoshan, expressed regret that he had never met Zangse Sanren and confirmed his master's reclusive nature, stating that once disciples left the mountain, they traditionally did not return. Wei Wuxian watched with disappointment as Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan departed. Meng Yao led the group to the Unclean Realm.
Along the way, he revealed that Wen Ruohan had recently sent a decree: all major clans were required to send at least one inner heir disciple to Qishan for "indoctrination," or the Wen clan would forcibly take them. Nie Huaisang panicked, realizing he was the sole inner heir disciple of the Nie clan and dreaded being held hostage.
At that moment, Clan Leader Nie Mingjue, the formidable Red Blade Master, emerged, his commanding presence leaving everyone in awe, especially Nie Huaisang who visibly cowered before him. Upon learning of Xue Yang’s heinous crimes, Nie Mingjue swiftly moved to execute him. However, Wei Wuxian and Meng Yao intervened, urging against immediate action.
Meng Yao eloquently argued that keeping Xue Yang alive to interrogate him about the Yin Iron’s whereabouts was crucial, especially since Wen Ruohan might be unaware of Xue Yang's capture. Securing this Yin Iron would be a strategic advantage against Qishan. Convinced by Meng Yao’s persuasive logic, Nie Mingjue ordered Xue Yang to be taken to the dungeon under strict guard.
Yet, when Meng Yao attempted to relay these instructions to the Captain, the Captain dismissed him, mockingly telling him to stick to "trifles" and not interfere with troop movements, then contemptuously called Meng Yao a "prostitute's son." Later, as they discussed Xue Yang's background, Wei Wuxian pondered the surname "Xue," speculating a connection to Xue Chonghai.
They concluded that with two pieces of Yin Iron already in the Wen clan's possession, and Wen Ruohan's relentless ambition, a fierce confrontation with the Wen clan was inevitable. Wei Wuxian mused about using their own Yin Iron to create a weapon to counter Wen's, but Lan Wangji, recalling ancient cultivators' failures to control it, warned against such dangerous thoughts.
Lan Wangji also revealed an urgent message from Lan Xichen, advising him to return to Gusu with the Yin Iron to seek a method to neutralize its threat, based on new findings in their forbidden books. They also voiced concerns that Wen Chao, who had been tailing them, might have alerted the Wen clan to their presence at the Unclean Realm, putting it at risk.
That night, Wei Wuxian, after some drinks, settled down to sleep on the eaves of Lan Wangji's room. He called out to Lan Wangji that he would sleep there, but unbeknownst to him, Lan Wangji had already quietly departed for Gusu with the Yin Iron. The next morning, Wei Wuxian woke to find Lan Wangji gone, and Jiang Cheng swiftly alerted him that Wen clan forces had arrived.
Wen Chao brazenly confronted Nie Mingjue, stating that his father, Wen Ruohan, was enraged by the unsanctioned handling of the Yin Iron and the Chang clan massacre, asserting it was the Wen clan's sole prerogative. He demanded Nie Mingjue surrender both the Yin Iron and Xue Yang, warning of dire consequences.
Nie Mingjue defiantly rejected the demand, prompting Wen Chao to openly accuse the Nie clan of colluding with the "evil" Lan clan, and declared his intent to "cleanse the house" for his father. As the confrontation escalated, Nie Mingjue sent Nie Huaisang away and turned his attention to the battle. Amidst the ensuing chaos, a cry erupted that Xue Yang had escaped. Nie Mingjue rushed to the dungeon, where he witnessed Xue Yang plunge a sword into the Captain's chest.
Meng Yao, standing nearby, hastily withdrew his hand from the Captain and frantically protested his innocence, claiming Xue Yang was the killer. As a disbelieving Nie Mingjue advanced towards Meng Yao, he remained oblivious to an attacker behind him. Meng Yao, however, saw the imminent strike and bravely shielded Nie Mingjue. Despite Meng Yao's quick action, Nie Mingjue was severely struck by Wen Chao and coughed up blood.
Wen Chao gloated, asserting his dominance over Nie Mingjue and the Qinghe territory. Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng helped the injured Nie Mingjue and sternly warned Wen Chao against his outrageous behavior, reminding him that Qinghe was Nie clan territory. Unfazed, Wen Chao mockingly retorted that Wei Wuxian was too meddlesome and delivered a devastating blow: his brother, Wen Xu, had already led forces to Gusu, and Lan Wangji would return only to find the Cloud Recesses reduced to ruins.
Wen Chao reiterated that all Yin Iron pieces would eventually belong to the Wen clan, and ominously declared that if Nie Mingjue dared to defy the Wen clan again, the Unclean Realm would suffer the same fate as the Cloud Recesses. With a final boast about meeting the disciples again at Qishan's indoctrination, Wen Chao departed triumphantly. Despite his injury, Nie Mingjue, supported by Nie Huaisang, demanded Meng Yao be brought to his room. Meng Yao, desperate, finally confessed.
He admitted to killing the Captain because the Captain had consistently belittled, insulted, and beaten him. More significantly, the Captain had repeatedly claimed Meng Yao's military merits as his own. Meng Yao tearfully revealed that moments before, he had witnessed the Captain intentionally release Xue Yang, and upon being confronted, the Captain continued to hurl vile insults, even against Meng Yao's mother. Expressing deep gratitude for Nie Mingjue's past kindness, Meng Yao stated he did not regret his actions.
Nie Mingjue, in immense pain and conflicted by Meng Yao having saved his life, found himself unable to execute him. Instead, he ordered Meng Yao to leave the Nie clan forever, never to return. Meng Yao, with a final expression of thanks for Nie Mingjue's recognition, accepted his fate.
