The Immortal Ascension Episode 3 Recap
> The Immortal Ascension Recap
As Han Li cultivated, he sensed Physician Mo's return, accompanied by an unfamiliar masked individual. When Mo inquired about his progress, Han Li, now at the fifth tier of the Longevity Art, concealed his true strength by making it appear he was only at the third. However, Mo saw through the deception.
He revealed that the medicine he had given Han Li was a Corpse Worm Pill, a concoction containing worm eggs that would hatch and devour Han Li's organs within a year if not suppressed by regular antidotes. As a veiled threat, Mo mentioned he had recently visited Qingniu Town and seen Han Li's family, noting his sister had grown into a lovely young woman. Undeterred, Han Li vowed to reach the fourth tier within three months.
Mo agreed to stay in the valley and provided Han Li with more pills, assuring him he would not be monitored but warning that failure meant death for them both. Mo also noted with surprise that Han Li had taught himself how to make poisons. Meanwhile, Han Li's friend, Li Feiyu, gave him a manual for the Blink Sword Technique.
Li Feiyu explained it was more of an assassination art than a traditional sword style, focused on using the environment, traps, and light to land a single fatal blow, making it perfect for someone like Han Li with little formal combat training. Han Li trained rigorously, eventually reaching the sixth tier of the Longevity Art, which sharpened his senses to an extraordinary degree.
His newfound speed astonished Li Feiyu during a sparring session, prompting his friend to joke that the student had surpassed the master. Li Feiyu gave Han Li a gift to complement the new technique and urged him to send for help if he ever faced trouble, insisting he shouldn't bear his burdens alone. Three months later, Han Li confronted Physician Mo, asking directly about Zhang Tie's fate. Mo cryptically suggested Han Li already knew the answer and invited him inside.
There, Mo admitted the deception, revealing he looked like a dying old man despite being only thirty-seven, his appearance ravaged by a strange poison he was constantly suppressing. He confirmed Han Li's true purpose was to become strong enough to cure him. Declaring their master-disciple relationship over, Mo prepared to fight. Han Li, having anticipated this, attacked with hidden poisons and techniques, catching Mo off guard.
However, Mo retaliated with his signature Silver Demon Palm, paralyzing Han Li with a potent toxin. With Han Li incapacitated, Mo summoned an Armored Puppet, explaining it was a human puppet he had refined, devoid of a soul and obedient only to his commands. When Han Li asked again about Zhang Tie, Mo chillingly confirmed that he had transformed their friend into the very puppet standing before them after Zhang Tie discovered his secret.
A mysterious voice urged Mo to act, and Mo assured the entity that the Seven Ghost Soul-Devouring Curse would succeed. Suddenly, both Physician Mo and the spirit, named Yu Zitong, invaded Han Li's consciousness to possess his body. Han Li fiercely resisted, asserting control over his own being. To their shock, they discovered Han Li had reached the sixth tier, not the fourth as Mo had led Yu Zitong to believe.
Realizing Mo intended for them to weaken each other so he could claim the body for himself, Yu Zitong withdrew. In his final moments, Mo identified his co-conspirator, warning Han Li not to trust Yu Zitong and revealing two critical weaknesses: the spirit was vulnerable to the same poison Han Li had used, and he feared light. With that, Physician Mo died. Han Li awoke to find Mo's lifeless body.
The disembodied spirit of Yu Zitong appeared, offering Han Li a place in his prestigious cultivator clan in exchange for help finding a new body. Remembering Mo's warning, Han Li ignored the offer, opened the door to flood the room with light, and banished the terrified spirit. He then discovered a letter in which Mo explained the body-snatching was a desperate act.
He revealed that the Silver Demon Palm poison could be cured by his family heirloom, the Sunwarm Jade, and that he had left several months' worth of suppressive antidote. He pleaded for his innocent wife and daughter to be spared and confirmed that Zhang Tie, having learned his secret, was transformed into the soulless puppet. Deeply saddened, Han Li renamed the puppet, now his silent companion, "Qu Hun."
He then began studying Mo's texts, including an incomplete Longevity Art, the Object Control Spell, the Heaven’s Eye Spell, and the difficult Fireball Technique. Later, the Seven Mysteries Sect was besieged by the Wild Wolves Gang, whose leader, Jia Tianlong, demanded a ten-person deathmatch. Han Li, who had been planning to leave the sect, was intercepted by Li Feiyu. Mistakenly thinking Han Li had come to help, Li Feiyu pulled him along to defend the sect master.
Li Feiyu, Li Zhanling, and Liu Chong volunteered for the duel. However, the Wild Wolves Gang had enlisted a cultivator from the Ye family of Qinling, who easily defeated the sect's Mentor Lu. Recognizing the man as a cultivator, Han Li intervened. His Fireball Technique overpowered the enemy cultivator's defensive artifact. After the cultivator fled, Han Li confronted Jia Tianlong.
Ignoring the gang leader's desperate offers of wealth, Han Li executed him for his past atrocities but spared the other gang members. Sect Master Wang Juechu offered Han Li the position of Deputy Sect Master and his eventual succession, but Han Li declined, stating his intent to leave permanently.
Instead, he proposed a deal with three conditions: Wang Juechu must take Li Feiyu as his direct disciple and make him head of the Outer Blade Hall; he must persuade Elder Zhang to allow his daughter, Zhang Xiu'er, to marry Li Feiyu; and he must look after Han Li’s third uncle. Wang Juechu agreed to all terms. In return, Han Li gave him a rare Essence Pill. After striking the deal, Han Li bid farewell.
Li Feiyu vowed that his name would one day be famous throughout the Tiannan Continent and that Han Li could always call on him. As Han Li departed Shenshou Valley, he reflected on Mo's final words—to survive, to remember his mortal roots, and to see the world for him. He resolved that he would not die before his friend achieved his dream.
